High protein urine child

Common Questions and Answers about High protein urine child

protein

Avatar n tn I had high protein 2 weeks ago. Tested again this week and it was normal. Most women test high at some point in pregnancy, doesn't mean anything unless you get more than one in a row. I hadn't eaten much 2 weeks ago, that was probably the reason it was high for me. Dehydration can be another reason. Odds are you have nothing to worry about, just take it as it comes. Good luck, and congrats on the baby!
280234 tn?1532986249 Your questions are good ones and by no means too many. They are really more in the area of nephrology and obstetrics. I have requested that your questions be shifted to the gynecology forum. Your last question regarding proteinuria secondary to a urinary tract infection is a "yes." The true amount of protein in your urine can be best figured out by doing a 24 hour urine collection and your kidney function can also be calculated on that specimen.
1837090 tn?1328040121 ve never experienced anything like this in any of my other children or even my m/c has anyone experianced very high urine protein levels and whiteouts and actually get a diagnosis? I am still pretty sick puking wise but nothing as bad as when I couldn't even keep down water at first .. Ok well now I'm rambling lol so any info or insight would be greatly appreciated im sort of freaking out as I don't even know what to expect.
Avatar f tn At my 39 weeks visit I had a lot more protein and my BP was still high so they had me do another 24 hr urine and now I am currently sitting at my Dr appt on my due date waiting to discuss possibly being induced due to the BP and protein. My Dr really didn't want me to go early if it wasn't necessary. Hopefully everything works out just as well for you!
1305271 tn?1320984748 Sometimes, when your body is under some type of stress, they can malfunction and let things like protein and glucose sneak through (which they should not). Protein in the urine is something they monitor in pregnancy esp if there is high blood pressure because it can indicate pre-eclampsia (along with high BP) or some type of stress on the body.
Avatar f tn If your blood pressure is high and you have protein in your urine it's because your kidneys are not functioning properly to filter the protein out. Protein in your urine without high blood pressure is usually due to diet, dehydration, or something preexisting.
Avatar m tn very high protein in urine is not uncommon in late stage kidney disease, if this were the case though and to be that high, you should ahve other tell tale symptoms, I really would get a simple blood test to check your kidney function though.
Avatar f tn They dont even ask because when you first gwt to your appointment the receptionist gives you a label for your sample and you go in the back do tour sample, slap ypur label on it.
Avatar f tn Pre eclampsia means my body is not producing enough blood for whatever reason which is making my liver and kidneys over work so my body is not absorbing protein. High protein in urine can be extremely dangerous for me and baby. Causing seizures or other heart problems. My protein is border line which means they caught it early. A sign of it is high BP which is how they knew to test my urine.
Avatar n tn I suffer from high "protein in urine" or high creatinine levels, now it's 2.4, but it was higher. I reccommend you read Dr. Walser's book on a low-protein, low-phoshorus diet to avoid dialysis. Your kidney doctor will probably tell you to go on a low-protein diet, but won't give you specifics. Dr. Walser's book explains the diet. It's rather hard diet to stick with, but beats the alternative.
Avatar f tn The only time I have heard of it is when you may have preclampsia and they take the urin for 24 hours then test the proiten in it. If you have had high blood pressure or they seen some protein in the urin or if you are swelling. Do you have any of those symptom??
Avatar f tn I had high BP and had to do a 24 hour urine test and came back with protein in my urine. As long as the protein is not accompanied by high BP or swelling, you're good. :) I'm actually being induced on the 14th at 37 weeks because of Pre E. I was diagnosed with it at 32 weeks and have been closely monitored since then.
Avatar f tn I have high levels of protein in my urine @ 35 weeks. anyone else? what has your doctor told you about it?
Avatar f tn Not every woman has protein in their urine..protein in urine is abnormal and not every pregnant woman has abnormal urine. You can also have pre-eclampsia without protein showing in urine. I had pre-eclampsia and it only started with really high bp, headaches, and blurred vision. There was no protein in my urine until 36 weeks but my dr. Had already diagnosed the pre-eclampsia before because of the other severe symptoms.
Avatar f tn Just been to see midwife have protein plus in my urine but no high blood pressure anyone else had this thanks
Avatar f tn You're blood pressure would be up if you had pre eclampsia. That's what pre-eclampsia is high blood pressure. There are many reasons you could have protein in your urine. It's a problem if it's there in high amounts several times. If you have sex before your sample (even the night before) it can cause protein to show in your urine.
9455625 tn?1412820762 Have protein(ketones) in your urine means you aren't eating enough, so your body is using up fat reserves as a source of energy, therefore meaning your body is in starvation mode
Avatar f tn high blood pressure, spilling of protein into urine, headaches, swelling/edema, sudden weight gain. Most women have a "trace" amount of protein in their urine but when this arises above a certain level that suggests she may be developing preeclampsia. From the research I conducted, it was indicated that if the total content of protein in a 24h urine collect is greater than 300 mg (milligrams) then that is cause for concern.
5889951 tn?1380316047 Protein Excess protein in your urine can be a sign of a urinary tract infection (UTI), kidney damage, or certain other disorders. Later in your pregnancy, it can also be a sign of preeclampsia if it's accompanied by high blood pressure. If you have protein in your urine but your blood pressure is normal, your sample will be sent to the lab for a culture to see whether you have a UTI.
1756475 tn?1330538713 Which is high levels of protein in ur urine and it also cause high bp. They will do many cath samples of urine and if it gets to bad the will induce labor. but they monitor u because if ur bp becomes a problem they can give u meds in ur iv when u deliver to bring it down.
8408613 tn?1414894692 What does it mean if your doctor tells you they found protein your urine??
Avatar f tn I have traces if protein in my urine as well and had high blood pressure. Doctor made me pee in a jug for a whole day and turn it in. turned out I had a uti. Never had one before and heard they were painful. I told doctor that I wasn't in any pain or discomfort. My doctor said because we are pregnant some symtoms won't show. So it really could. Be a uti. Don't worry to much about it.
Avatar m tn specially after high protein meals. The only thing i do not understand is that if my urine is foamy after high protein meals, how come there was not any protein detected in two seperate urinalyses dipstick test that i had. I am not worrying about it too much.
1527017 tn?1291671470 This is what I know about protein urine testing. Urine protein testing is used to help evaluate and monitor kidney function, and to help detect and diagnose early kidney damage and disease. If the level is high, the doctor may order a secondary test to determine which proteins are being excreted and in what quantities. Greater than 1200 appears high. However, rereading your post I am unsure if you are mixing the tests urine protein against urine keytones?
