protein

Avatar f tn Greek yogurt is high in protein. I get the plain and mix fruit into it, but you can get small cups with fruit already in if that works better for you.
Avatar f tn I'm a ftm and is at 19 weeks & 1 day. I was curious about how much weight I should of gained since my pregnancy. I'm afraid that I'm under weight for my baby and that she will be under weight when she gets here. Any suggestions on snacks or meals to gain weight?
17593698 tn?1458185817 What works for me are snacks that are low in carbs and packed with protein and fat (mostly protein). Nuts are a good choice, just look for lower sodium options. Jerky and other dried meats are good as well. Also consider fresh fruit but beware tropical fruits (Mango, pineapple, papaya, etc.) these are particularly heavy on sugar relative to size. A small to medium sized banana or apple are always a good snack and don't spike your blood sugar.
Avatar f tn Lots! Every 2 hours I eat something. I have to eat small meals. With my first one I was working full time and I had to bring a shopping bag of food to work with me daily! The girls laughed at my stash at the office. I try to eat an egg or two every day and keep the protein up. Also tons of fruits/veggies daily. TG I'm not craving bacon this time. That was a stinky craving last time.
Avatar f tn Fiber and protein snacks will be best make you fuller and hold you over longer :-) fiber one bars are great like the oher girl mentioned. Get some jack links beef jerky too! Low fat good protein.
Avatar n tn But maybe you could try small snacks, like crackers and cheese. things high in protein like cooked deli meats fruits and veggies. This is so hard. Maybe you should also notify your Ob and see what suggestions they have. Mine had a list of things to eat when sick. Hope this helps and hope your Ob can to. Ya know some ppl just have sickness throughout their pregnancy, my sisten in law did.
Avatar f tn i am losing the battle against calorie intake. I know you're not supposed to go over 2,200 calories per day..... but how? Every once in a while I go over and I'll feel super guilty. I do protein shakes, protein bars, healthy snacks and no meals and extra water. I don't regularly give in to cravings either. It is hard when all I can think about is my next snack. What do you do to stay under 2,200? Any recommendations to ease the pain of the calorie count?
Avatar f tn I struggle with eating enough sometimes and was sick almost every other day early on but my nurse gave me some a advice that works great for me... tiny snacks high in protein will help with the nausea and are great for your growing baby! Small bites of protein bars every so often, sipping high protein shakes like boost or really anything that sounds good that you actually want to eat. This helped me a bunch so i hope you try it! Feel better!!
Avatar n tn So I figured it out eventually that I needed to avoid high refined carb snacks. But I still seem to get hypoglycemic episodes sometimes and I can't always figure out why. Today I had a high protein, low carb meal - paleo bread (9g protein, 6g carbs(1 sugar)) and hemp seed butter (9g protein, 4g carbs(1sugar)). Within an hour, hypoglycemic symptoms began. Is it because I didn't have enough sugar?
579258 tn?1250649343 I also love hard boiled eggs for snack, as well as protein bars from Herbalife. High protein, low calories and carries me quite a long ways. So many exciting choices you have listed above. I do believe I shall have to branch out!

Avatar f tn There are a million foods made out of soy and other legumes, high in protein. Bananas -- lots of energy, high in electrolytes. Seeds -- hemp seeds most complete vegetable protein, even more complete than soy. Whole grain pasta -- you can get it made out of brown rice, spelt, kamut, amaranth, even with protein added from legumes. There's a world of food out there.

Avatar f tn Hi im 25. im 3 months and 3weeks pregnant. I been trying to gain waight but instead im losing a lot of it. I weight 93 pounds , I've lost 4 pounds throughout my whole pregnancy. I eat about 2 meals a day plus snacks in between. Is there any another way I can actually try to gain weight. My nauseas just went away about 2 weeks ago. Maybe I need to give it a little more time for my weight to actually to stay high?
Avatar f tn I added high fat/protein snacks like nuts and nut butter. I also added a few good carbs like fruit. I am on a 3 meals a day and 2 or 3 snacks. In fact I had my 38w appointment today and I have lost 4 pounds since my last appointment. My ob doesn't say anything about my weight unless I pack on the pound. All my lab work has been fine but I eat alot of red meat or try too for the iron.
Avatar n tn Try eating late snacks with higher protein such as meat, trail mix, maybe even have one of those protein shakes as a night snack. Protein really helped me last pregnancy. Also try eating before getting out of bed even if it's just crackers or juice.
Avatar f tn You sound like you have hypoglycemia. You are correct to have several small meals. For snacks protein is best because it is digested slowly. I keep boiled shrimp in the refrigerator and use them for snacks. You must stay away from sugars and anything that easily converts to sugar. Are granola bars high in sugar. Better check that.
11157192 tn?1430159059 Try and prepare a load of snacks in the morning and eat them throughout the day. If its already prepared ur more likely to eat it. Keep some snacks next yo u in the evening when watching tv. U may have a nibble without even thinking about it.
Avatar f tn There are lots of healthy snacks. Yogurt. Cheese. Cottage cheese. Fruits. Veggies. Nuts. Hummus. Peanut butter. Eggs. Beef jerky. Glass of milk. Trail mix. Even "bad" snacks are OK sometimes as long as you usually keep a good mix of healthy snacks in the rotation. Protein bars or granola bars can also be convenient.
2186195 tn?1339430622 no i'm not on any meds. the only time it goes on the high side is when i havent eaten for a longg time & then after i finally eat its kinda high. never over 110 though. is that normal?

Avatar f tn My snacks are a piece of fruit then later a couple slices of salami with a slice of hard cheese for protein (add a sundries tomato for extra yum!) Popcorn is also a favorite for me.
Avatar f tn If not- work on getting high protein foods into your diet, and cut back on the carbs. Your fasting sugars can usually be brought down by having a good protein/low carb snack a little bit before bed.
