579258 tn?1250649343 I also love hard boiled eggs for snack, as well as protein bars from Herbalife. High protein, low calories and carries me quite a long ways. So many exciting choices you have listed above. I do believe I shall have to branch out!
Avatar f tn Greek yogurt is high in protein. I get the plain and mix fruit into it, but you can get small cups with fruit already in if that works better for you.
Avatar n tn But maybe you could try small snacks, like crackers and cheese. things high in protein like cooked deli meats fruits and veggies. This is so hard. Maybe you should also notify your Ob and see what suggestions they have. Mine had a list of things to eat when sick. Hope this helps and hope your Ob can to. Ya know some ppl just have sickness throughout their pregnancy, my sisten in law did.
17593698 tn?1458185817 What works for me are snacks that are low in carbs and packed with protein and fat (mostly protein). Nuts are a good choice, just look for lower sodium options. Jerky and other dried meats are good as well. Also consider fresh fruit but beware tropical fruits (Mango, pineapple, papaya, etc.) these are particularly heavy on sugar relative to size. A small to medium sized banana or apple are always a good snack and don't spike your blood sugar.
Avatar n tn So I figured it out eventually that I needed to avoid high refined carb snacks. But I still seem to get hypoglycemic episodes sometimes and I can't always figure out why. Today I had a high protein, low carb meal - paleo bread (9g protein, 6g carbs(1 sugar)) and hemp seed butter (9g protein, 4g carbs(1sugar)). Within an hour, hypoglycemic symptoms began. Is it because I didn't have enough sugar?
Avatar n tn Whole foods are the best sources of calories and protein, but if you have a naturally high metabolism, you may find it difficult to get what you need through whole foods alone. I also suggest buying Whey protein Concentrate NOT Isolate!! Avoid those with added sugars and preservatives. Add high calorie ingredients to your protein shakes to boost the calorie content.
Avatar f tn That's an awful lot of protein... my doctor has me on a high protein diet, 108 grams/day and most days I can't make that, even with a couple of shakes. Are shakes and water all you plan to consume? If so, that's not good or sustainable. In addition, weight lost too and not in a healthy manner will most likely be regained as soon as you start eating normally again, even if maintaining a healthy diet.
Avatar n tn For snacks I usually go with like salad and things of that nature.
Avatar f tn There are a million foods made out of soy and other legumes, high in protein. Bananas -- lots of energy, high in electrolytes. Seeds -- hemp seeds most complete vegetable protein, even more complete than soy. Whole grain pasta -- you can get it made out of brown rice, spelt, kamut, amaranth, even with protein added from legumes. There's a world of food out there.

Avatar f tn You sound like you have hypoglycemia. You are correct to have several small meals. For snacks protein is best because it is digested slowly. I keep boiled shrimp in the refrigerator and use them for snacks. You must stay away from sugars and anything that easily converts to sugar. Are granola bars high in sugar. Better check that.
Avatar f tn One ounce is only 16 calories and since they are frozen they take more time to eat. Best snack by far! U can also search 10 calorie snacks and find a list of things like two strawberries, one peanut m&m. Sometimes thst tiny lil bit is all it takes.

Avatar f tn i am losing the battle against calorie intake. I know you're not supposed to go over 2,200 calories per day..... but how? Every once in a while I go over and I'll feel super guilty. I do protein shakes, protein bars, healthy snacks and no meals and extra water. I don't regularly give in to cravings either. It is hard when all I can think about is my next snack. What do you do to stay under 2,200? Any recommendations to ease the pain of the calorie count?
Avatar f tn Lots! Every 2 hours I eat something. I have to eat small meals. With my first one I was working full time and I had to bring a shopping bag of food to work with me daily! The girls laughed at my stash at the office. I try to eat an egg or two every day and keep the protein up. Also tons of fruits/veggies daily. TG I'm not craving bacon this time. That was a stinky craving last time.
Avatar f tn Fiber and protein snacks will be best make you fuller and hold you over longer :-) fiber one bars are great like the oher girl mentioned. Get some jack links beef jerky too! Low fat good protein.
Avatar f tn If you don't think you're gaining enough you should try a supplement shake or drink....boost, enfimil or even carnation instant breakfast....they are all descent tasting and have many many flavors to choose from.
Avatar f tn t have more than 1-2 servings of fruit in a day. Try to eat higher protein foods as protein suppresses hunger and lasts longer. Try getting a protein powder and make a protein shake about 45 min before lunch and dinner to help curb your hunger. Last thing you want to do is starve your body, all that will do is cause your body to hold onto calories and also create other health issues and bad habits.
Avatar f tn Eat regular small sized meals / snacks (every 3 - 4 hours). Snacks/meals should always contain protein and healthy fats - carbs mostly from vegetables, nuts, unsweetened dairy. Thisdm should help keep your blood sugar stable. Are you on any medications? Have you had any testing by your Dr? Do you monitor blood sugar after eating? When are you seeing these lower numbers?
Avatar m tn sometimes i take whole wheat peanut butter sandwich, or ham sandwich, almonds, apples, protein shake, oatmeal bars. or foods with high fiber. I take protein bars too but they can be expensive throughout time, so i made my own.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem my Dr told me to eat lots of protein and eat high protein snacks. I'm already on a high fiber diet because of digestive issues. It actually helped a lot.
Avatar f tn My nutritionist put me on a plan of 45g carbs per meal, breakfast lunch and dinner, and three snacks per day at about 15-20g carbs in each snack. High protein to give you energy and all the veggies you want, to fill you up. I eat lots of green salads with lean meat (baked chicken, usually).
