579258 tn?1250649343 I also love hard boiled eggs for snack, as well as protein bars from Herbalife. High protein, low calories and carries me quite a long ways. So many exciting choices you have listed above. I do believe I shall have to branch out!
Avatar f tn Our kids and I are going camping this weekend with some family and I am trying to come up with some easy snacks that I can eat discretely that will hold me over for awhile. Our meals are so thrown off when we are up there. Might not have lunch and dinner until like 2-3 and 7-8 when we are there. I don't want them to question it. But I also don't want them to say well you can wait just like everyone else. Any ideas what I could take with me?
Avatar n tn I found lemon water (fresh slices in my water) helped me a lot and having frequent protein snacks like nuts or cheese helped me a lot. If you're extra tired the extra protein helps a little with that too also it's okay to have a little coffee or something. When I worked at a daycare my OB actually told me to ha e a second cup of coffee to help me keep going.
Avatar f tn There are a million foods made out of soy and other legumes, high in protein. Bananas -- lots of energy, high in electrolytes. Seeds -- hemp seeds most complete vegetable protein, even more complete than soy. Whole grain pasta -- you can get it made out of brown rice, spelt, kamut, amaranth, even with protein added from legumes. There's a world of food out there.
Avatar f tn You sound like you have hypoglycemia. You are correct to have several small meals. For snacks protein is best because it is digested slowly. I keep boiled shrimp in the refrigerator and use them for snacks. You must stay away from sugars and anything that easily converts to sugar. Are granola bars high in sugar. Better check that.
17593698 tn?1458185817 What works for me are snacks that are low in carbs and packed with protein and fat (mostly protein). Nuts are a good choice, just look for lower sodium options. Jerky and other dried meats are good as well. Also consider fresh fruit but beware tropical fruits (Mango, pineapple, papaya, etc.) these are particularly heavy on sugar relative to size. A small to medium sized banana or apple are always a good snack and don't spike your blood sugar.
Avatar f tn My snacks are a piece of fruit then later a couple slices of salami with a slice of hard cheese for protein (add a sundries tomato for extra yum!) Popcorn is also a favorite for me.
Avatar m tn sometimes i take whole wheat peanut butter sandwich, or ham sandwich, almonds, apples, protein shake, oatmeal bars. or foods with high fiber. I take protein bars too but they can be expensive throughout time, so i made my own.
Avatar f tn With my first one I was working full time and I had to bring a shopping bag of food to work with me daily! The girls laughed at my stash at the office. I try to eat an egg or two every day and keep the protein up. Also tons of fruits/veggies daily. TG I'm not craving bacon this time. That was a stinky craving last time.
Avatar f tn i am losing the battle against calorie intake. I know you're not supposed to go over 2,200 calories per day..... but how? Every once in a while I go over and I'll feel super guilty. I do protein shakes, protein bars, healthy snacks and no meals and extra water. I don't regularly give in to cravings either. It is hard when all I can think about is my next snack. What do you do to stay under 2,200? Any recommendations to ease the pain of the calorie count?
Avatar f tn t have more than 1-2 servings of fruit in a day. Try to eat higher protein foods as protein suppresses hunger and lasts longer. Try getting a protein powder and make a protein shake about 45 min before lunch and dinner to help curb your hunger. Last thing you want to do is starve your body, all that will do is cause your body to hold onto calories and also create other health issues and bad habits.
Avatar m tn Try feeding him food of high nutritional value so he gets as much protein and calories as he needs. For example, having a protein source each meal --- meat / fish or cheese or yogurt; with a carbohydrate --- bread, pasta, rice, cereal; and a fat ---- pat of butter or mayonnaise if you made a sandwich. Good protein sources are meats, chicken, fish, beef, pork, etc.; and dairy products such as milk, yogurt, cheeses, pudding, and ice cream. It is good he eats pork and chicken.
Avatar n tn So I figured it out eventually that I needed to avoid high refined carb snacks. But I still seem to get hypoglycemic episodes sometimes and I can't always figure out why. Today I had a high protein, low carb meal - paleo bread (9g protein, 6g carbs(1 sugar)) and hemp seed butter (9g protein, 4g carbs(1sugar)). Within an hour, hypoglycemic symptoms began. Is it because I didn't have enough sugar?

Avatar n tn My mom is just plain diabetic (not pregnant). But she says it helps to eat a serving of protein when you eat a serving of carbs because it helps stabilize your blood sugar and keeps it from going up and down. I think it's something about the way your body metabolizes stuff. Also, there are mixed studies out on this right now, but I don't think it would hurt to try- adding cinnamon to stuff like oatmeal, applesauce, etc.
Avatar f tn I had the same problem my Dr told me to eat lots of protein and eat high protein snacks. I'm already on a high fiber diet because of digestive issues. It actually helped a lot.
Avatar f tn As far as vegetarian diets go, do you eat eggs or cheese or completely sustain from all animal products? Both, although great sources of protein, can be very high in fat. So maybe use only egg whites in baking and limit your cheese to low fat varieties. You may want to also think about what kind of oils you use and op for canola oil or olive oil. Also coconut milk/meat, nuts, and avocado are all pretty high in fats.
Avatar f tn Cheese, yogurt and nuts are my most fulling snacks. Also if your blood sugar is high try avoiding starch, it work for me. Be careful too get enough glucides but from nutritious food.
Avatar n tn For snacks I usually go with like salad and things of that nature.

Avatar f tn Tips to control sugar cravings •don't deprive yourself 100%, take something healthy like fruit or granola and drizzle just a little bit of chocolate on it(instead of eating a whole chocolate bar) or that hazelnut spread is really tasty too. •don't go too long in between meals, when you get hungry your body wants an instant fix...carbs/sugar. So that's what you will crave because if releases endorphins and gives you an energy boost.
Avatar n tn I have tried eating pure glucose, and it only partially helps (with physical energy), leaving me mentally-foggy and with a strong craving for protein; so it seems it is not just hypoglycemia, and just eating sugar won't fix it. What is this?
933846 tn?1353452448 I'm about six weeks pregnant and have had all-day morning sickness for three weeks now. I've been prescribed Phenergan. The meds stop the feeling of nausea, but make my mouth unbelievably dry, my vision impaired, my stomach queasy (instead of nauseous), and me sleepy. So, after one dosage of 12 mg, I decided it was best to stick with the morning sickness. There is an article "CURES for Morning Sickness" on the Med Health Pages that I recommend reading.
Avatar f tn If he wants to stay the cereal route he should look for higher protein ones. It would be great if he could add eggs to his breakfast or even take hard boiled eggs to work. Ensure he increases his beans and legumes as well. Is it possible to join a volleyball team or an exercise club that you can go to together? Or look at getting an eliptical or treadmill for home and put it in front of the TV. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I added high fat/protein snacks like nuts and nut butter. I also added a few good carbs like fruit. I am on a 3 meals a day and 2 or 3 snacks. In fact I had my 38w appointment today and I have lost 4 pounds since my last appointment. My ob doesn't say anything about my weight unless I pack on the pound. All my lab work has been fine but I eat alot of red meat or try too for the iron.
Avatar f tn It is quite opposite to the establishment high carb low fat diet. This diet needs to be high fat, moderate protein and low carb. Essentially the carbs are replaced mostly with fats, and with some additional protein.
Avatar f tn I've been feeling the same way these last few days. I'm always hungry. I'll eat healthy snacks like nuts cheese granola bars peaches nectarines and I'll still feel hungry someone told me on this site to try high protein and fiber snacks and someone else suggested a Lil sugar in my snacks. Today wasn't as bad as yesterday but I do eat every 2 to 3 hrs.
