What we eat affects the formation of neurotransmitters, and some diet-related neurotransmitters have a significant affect on our mood, our appetite and our cravings. This in turn causes the brain to communicate in the form of an impulse (craving for certain foods) the need for certain neurotransmitters that it requires to restore balance.
Avatar f tn You can find out what percentage of protein is in the food that you are feeding and ask your vet if it is adequate or too high. Dogs are omnivores and do not need primarily meat diets and these high protein diets. I don't know that numbers off the top of my head, but you can probably find it online somewhere.

14652685 tn?1435693430 I have a pretty severe protein issue, I know protein deficiencies like mine are rare but sadly I have to live with one. If I don't take in massive amounts of protein (about 45% of my daily caloric intake I've calculated) my body will begin cannibalizing my own muscle tissue at a pretty rapid rate.
1027304 tn?1333973406 Just wondering if anyone knows if the protein shakes are recommended or not advisable. I've read alot of conflicting information on the internet. I know I should ask my OB, which I will next week at my next appt., but until then, i always hate being a pain and making calls into the office.
Avatar f tn In the past it was thought cirrhotics should keep to low protein, but recent evidence shows that it not the case. As Hector and paen53 pointed out above, adequate protein of the right kind is important for patients with cirrhosis. It's generally advised to keep red meats to a minimum, and derive protein from veggies, beans & nuts, & fish. My husband who has cirrhosis now tries to substitute red meat, which was his staple for years, with peanut butter, fish, eggs, and beans.
3211536 tn?1359385569 In the meantime, please do try to drink Ensure or Carnation Instant Breakfast (blah), look for the high protein foods that are low in sodium (send that son of yours out fishing!), and eat the small frequent meals that I already know you are doing. Personally, if it were me in your situation Cree, I would avoid spinach and kale, and only eat other greens (e.g.
Avatar f tn I was wondering what healthy foods are you all eating now that you are pregnant? I've been eating lots of grapes lately red and green, never really was into them before.
Avatar n tn I eat everything they tell you not to eat (real-food-wise, that is), and I stay away from processed foods. I do not eat any processed sugars, carbohydrates, sodas, or trans-fat. I load up on saturated fats (I go through 2 packets of butter in a week), and eat probably more than my fair share of protein. Not as much chicken, but real, red-meat foods (steak, lamb, etc) with the fat still on it. I eat at least 3 eggs a day, everyday (whole eggs, not this egg white only stuff).
Avatar n tn The dark cola drinks also need to be avoided as they are rich in phosphorus which tends to accumulate. Foods that are high in protein are meat, poultry (chicken), fish, eggs, and dairy products (milk, cheese, yogurt) should be taken in lesser amounts as they are to be excreted by kidneys and hence increase the renal workload. There’s no drug to decrease creatinine levels but the only way is to find out the underlying cause of the deranged kidney function and rectify the same.
Avatar f tn Having fish or meat with lots of vegetables like cabbage, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower will also fill you up. Eggs are a good choice because these are protein foods that will give you satiety and will also release energy slowly. The protein foods and slow energy release foods will also make you feel no so hungry so quickly. It takes our brain 20 minutes to get the message that the stomach is satisfied and full.
Avatar f tn So I'm 10 weeks today and for the past week I have had a complete aversion to all meat. The smell and thought of it makes me nauseous, even chicken! Anyone ever have this before? If so how long until it passed?
1657684 tn?1307375035 Rice is OK if you must, but not too much. The main things to avoid are cheap dry cat foods that are mostly filler, and wheat-based products, and things that are simply too rich for their digestive tract (as in tuna or milk). Your vet can tell you in a nano what foods are really pretty bad for cats. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Very very very normal in your first trimester and even Into your second. There are ways around it, I found protein shakes worked really good for me. Because the smell or thought of meat made me sick. Plus you can mix in veggies like spinach and other veggies the contain.protein and it doesn't taste like them. Try and eat protein rich foods, like beans! I couldn't stomach eggs until my third trimester. Read up on protein high foods.. it doesn't have to be just meat and dairy.
148588 tn?1465778809 BHA causes cancer in mice, rats and hamsters. Although they are believed to be safe in low levels, there are alternatives that do not contain these preservatives.
Avatar f tn We also note this food contains chelated minerals… minerals that have been chemically attached to protein. This makes them easier to absorb. Chelated minerals are usually found in better dog foods. Pedigree Dry Dog Food The Bottom Line Wow… what a collection of synthetic chemicals and agricultural waste. Judging by its ingredient quality alone, Pedigree Dog Food looks like a particularly low-grade product.
11988597 tn?1438629414 There are a lot of foods that have protein. Cheese, beans, milk, nuts, lentils, hummus with vegetables so yummy.
Avatar n tn Just my recommendation from studying nutrition, you probably need to find a nutritionist close to you and find out if your body is really getting everything it needs. A general physical probably won't be able to really help you with that. Having meat in your body is healthy for you, but I would make sure to buy meat with no hormones or steriods. I personally wouldn't avoid it all-together though.
