Avatar f tn You can find out what percentage of protein is in the food that you are feeding and ask your vet if it is adequate or too high. Avatar f tn There can be many factors, but for me it was just my diet. In general I am a big meat, bean, all around protein eater and my body stores it longer, or digests it slower. So they will just watch and make sure it isnt something else causing it and if it levels out they'll make sure it isnt causing any other issues.
14652685 tn?1435693430 ve lived with this issue for most of my life however I normally maintained my protein intake via a diet high in bio-available protein sources (Red meat and fish due to their acidic nature along with some plant based sources) however, due to financial hardship I can no longer afford the diet I need to stop my body from eating my own muscle tissue. It's beginning to affect not only my skeletal muscles but also my heart and other internal muscle structures.
Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.

Does anyone know if lowering ones protein intake would be beneficial to the liver by not making it work so hard. I am thinking in regards to a vegan diet benefiting someone with Hep C.

As for protein foods, keep in mind some people don't do well without meat, and B12 is hard to get without it. And that's important for energy. But beans of all kinds are wonderful sources of protein, as are nuts.

Avatar n tn The best diet is one that incorporates lots of fresh/frozen veggies, lean protein such as meat, eggs, dairy and legumes, healthy fats such as avocados, olive and coconut oils, nuts and seeds, along with a serving or two of fruit/day. Add olive or coconut oil for seasoning or to cook with.

Avatar f tn My dog was perfectly fine with SLIGHT high BUN (35-38). I put her on the NF diet in an effort to keep the kidney disease at bay, and suddenly her pancreatitis went crazy! She got very ill and didn't want to eat. I tried to put her back on her old food to get her back to normal, but it was too late. She's been hospitalized for four days. Her BUN/Creat "stabilized" at 116/6.7.
Avatar m tn Eat the healthiest diet you can. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and lean protein. Healthy foods help keep you strong, give you more energy and support your immune system. If you're nauseated, try eating small meals throughout the day. Choose foods that are soothing and easy to digest, such as soups, broths or a plain baked potato. A registered dietitian can be especially helpful if you have weight loss or trouble eating.
Avatar m tn high fat damages the liver adequate-protein is ok but from vegetable or little white meat, no red meat, no diaries low-carbohydrate leads nowhere, it is processed and refined carbohydrates to increase blood glucose which makes damage, so the problems is refined cereals not not carbohydrates the answer is orgains-raw carbohydrates which still contain the fibers which block too fast glucose absorption, they must be bio because you have more poisons/pesticides on the surface of raw carbohydrates

Avatar n tn My sister had a little boy about 2 years ago & decided that he would be vegetarian – which is fine, I can live with that. What has actually happened is that shes blocked all meat & fish out of his diet.....and I don’t think he would know a vegetable if it hit him in the face. All I see is that he eats cheese & chips, cheese sandwich, block of cheese, Egg sandwich, vegetarian burgers....but the diet is mainly chips.

Nothing new here. You'll need more calories, though, again, because you exercise a lot.
Avatar f tn That's an awful lot of protein... my doctor has me on a high protein diet, 108 grams/day and most days I can't make that, even with a couple of shakes. Are shakes and water all you plan to consume? If so, that's not good or sustainable. In addition, weight lost too and not in a healthy manner will most likely be regained as soon as you start eating normally again, even if maintaining a healthy diet.
971283 tn?1247767572 low carbs, low sugar, mostly veggies but use whey protein bars AND whey protein powder for my high protein diet. Avatar f tn Every time researchers dig into this, they still come up the same place -- the societies with the healthiest, longest-lived, and least obese people eat a diet high in veggies, fruits, grains, and moderate amounts of animal protein. Americans in general eat pretty high protein diets to begin with, though the protein has traditionally been high fat pork and beef.
