Avatar f tn Hey, I am very new to this app but I have lost 3 stone and is a very decent weight but I want to be able to control ny eating habits. Does anyone have any healthy meal ideas that taste really good and are low in calories? I also need some tips on how to avoid snacking so much!
568875 tn?1424397205 and i have severe swelling and the doc told me i need to be on high protein and low sodium diet. i have no idea where to begin looking for good snack ideas and easy meals. i cant seem to find really anything on google, so i was wondering if any of u ladies have this swelling problem and were put on this diet what did u do for snacks and meals...or if anyone just has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar n tn And if you want to see what people eat who actually live the longest and healthiest, scientists have been actively studying clusters of them. None of them eat a high protein diet -- they are all in the grains and beans and veggies and fruits categories. Food for thought.
Avatar f tn I have been on insulin for about 15 years. I can't get my blood sugars under control. I take 86 units of Lantus twice a day; 50 units of novolog at each meal; 1000mg metformin twice a day and 30mg actos once a day. My sugars run 280-500. The new dietician I just saw put me on 90 grams of carb at EACH meal (I think this is really high!). All the doctors say is "take more insulin". I could eat 24/7. I am 54 years old, female, 5'10", 275 pounds.
Tbd 2. Very low fat, adequate protein, high carb. This is the plant based and even vegan diet that some are promoting. This diet does not have processed foods. The diet that absolutely does not work is a diet that is high in both carbs and fats. For me, considering that diabetes is an inability of the body to properly process glucose I choose low carb / ketogenic diet. This diet is fairly easy to follow. No grains, no sugars, no starchy vegetables.

Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.

Avatar n tn Threwout the school yaer, i would eat large ammounts of cheese, and penut butter, for my protein sources, but thats very high fat, and i gained a large amount of weight. For the past few months, ive been eating more eggs, but, im still having trouble with what to eat when im going away. If im planning on going away for the day, or im not gonna be home, finding somethign i can bring to eat can turn to be quite troublesome.

Avatar f tn If you have a refrigerator, you can buy frozen veggies that you can cook in a microwave - assuming that you have one. You can buy frozen veggies for a fraction of the cost of fresh and they are just as good for you. Add a meat, eggs, dairy, etc to get your protein, bread or cereal to get your whole grains a serving or 2 of fruit every day, some healthy fat, such as olive oil, and avocado in your salad.

She has me on a high protein diet I'm very sensitive to carbs so for every meal wether is breakfast or snack, lunch or dinner I have to have protein. And limit my fruits I could only have 2-3 servings of fruit and the only ones are berries or apples everything else is high in sugar. And eliminating pastas, rice, bread switching to Splenda sugar or equal anything zero in sweetner. Switching to Almond milk even for coffee.

Avatar n tn Your diet seem fine and yes if 2h after meal bg is fine you are on the right track. I had to cut fruits also not easy. But you can still eat a fruit as snack as long as you include protein... for me cheese, nuts and yogurt work great. Also after bigger meals taking a 15 to 30 min walk can help you a lot. I'm follow by a nutritionist and an endocrinologist. I'm 23 weeks and diagnosed since 8 weeks because of family history.
