Avatar m tn I have a 2 year old teacup Schnauzer & recently changed her diet to a raw diet. We used Stella & Chewy's raw food. The first week she did great, the second week she began vomiting, sometimes food, other times white foamy stuff. She laid around for about 2 or 3 days, but still had an appetite, loved her new food & drank the normal amount.
905425 tn?1242337287 If your cat continues to have GI problems than a hypoallergenic, novel protein diet should be tried. These diets consist of a novel protein, such as lamb or venison, which are not typically used in cat foods, or a prescription hypoallergenic diet available from your veterinarian.
Avatar f tn I typically run high protein and have perfect uneventful pregnancies otherwise. (Just delivered Thurs). There can be many factors, but for me it was just my diet. In general I am a big meat, bean, all around protein eater and my body stores it longer, or digests it slower. So they will just watch and make sure it isnt something else causing it and if it levels out they'll make sure it isnt causing any other issues.
Avatar n tn though above said u had a lactose test. try bulking up your food a little. high calorie high protein diet. thats what we give a lot of patients at the hospital when they are malnutritioned. High Cal High fat try to absorb some of it so maybe u can put your weight back on. just a suggestion bbut definatly dont decrease your fluids u need that! since ur losing it a lot drink extra fluids during the day like 3000cc, (about 3 liters) thats definatly important since u have chronic diarrhea.
Avatar n tn As a high protein diet, they are a lot of animals that have problems with it being too rich. Defintely use a high quality food. The sister brand Acana is made by the same company as Orijen but is not high protein. They have both grain free and regular formulas with oatmeal. Being a golden-doodle I would try the Acana Large breed puppy formula first (chicken based).
Avatar f tn m hearing a lot about kidney issues and wonder if my dog is at risk because of his high protein diet.
Avatar m tn For weeks I had really bad chronic abdominal pain on my right side. I couldn't laugh it hurt so bad. Then I had a MRI they said they saw stool. Now I went to the plasma center my protein levels were high so I couldn't give blood. They say my protein was high because fatty foods. Is this reason I feel tired and don't have regular periods, breast milk dried?
Avatar f tn Glad some testing has been done but there can be other causes such as Inflammatory Bowel disease, IBS, malabsorption, pancreatic problems, bacterial or viral infections. Etc. some of these can only be checked with specific blood work, X-rays and scopes with biopsies being done, which means more Vet bills. What food are you feeding? I might try something other than chicken or beef and no grains. Hope you can get this resolved.
Avatar f tn A successful diet plan should contain high protein diet, protein is useful in the matter of weight reduction in light of the fact that it is hard to process. This implies that you will feel full more aside from the way that protein makes you feel full quicker. Make sure, high protein eating plan just conveys extensive weight reduction results when the consumption of carbs is limited.
1415174 tn?1453243103 There is so much literature out there that shows how bad it is to eat a high fat diet and too much meat. Yet a lot of people are on the Paleo diet including some friends. It is very acidic. Well, that is my opinion. Of course genetics plays a role too.
Avatar f tn s nearly impossible with 2000 mg of sodium limit daily. I hit the protein shake w/ chick pea n hemp protein. The whey protein made me tired. Too much bad protein can bring on HE. You'll find your balance where you can feel good. Lots of protein bars and dry cereals have high protein and I consume a lot of those!
Avatar n tn The only thing i can imagine to include as a possible factor is the fact that that same week this started, i started a high protein diet consisting of protein bars for breakfast and then protein shakes blended with banana and flax for snack with normal meals for breakfast and dinner. No fever, no blood in stools, the left side from the ribs down to hip bone spasms and there feels like blockage pain. I obviously have stopped the diet but still not regular.... can anyone help?
4862546 tn?1360241703 In patients with decompensated cirrhosis and hepatic encephalopathy (HE) Lactulose/Kristalose is the first line of treatment after the elimination of red meat protein from the diet, which during digestion produces high levels of ammonia and other toxins. Kristalose can be mixed in plain water and has almost no flavor. Mix it in juices and you will never taste it. Kristalose is manufactured by Cumberland Pharmaceuticals Inc., Nashville, TN.
9438937 tn?1403776528 The stress is gone, but it seemed a good time to continue the fast, as I have high blood pressure problems. No growling of the stomach. Mild headache on and off. Generally going well. I broke the fast with roughly 2-3 ounces of meat on the 4th and 5th day. This has resulted in diarrhea. But on the 3rd day of the fast, I had about 2 ounces of salmon with no ill effects. Is it because I was on my 4th and 5th day of caloric restriction?
568875 tn?1424397205 and i have severe swelling and the doc told me i need to be on high protein and low sodium diet. i have no idea where to begin looking for good snack ideas and easy meals. i cant seem to find really anything on google, so i was wondering if any of u ladies have this swelling problem and were put on this diet what did u do for snacks and meals...or if anyone just has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Now I don’t get bad diarrhea unless I eat dairy, soda, high sugar sweets, and spicy foods. But my stool is still bulky and very soft (almost powdery in a way because it turns to powder when I flush) and I see bits of food in it. Throughout the day I am also accompanied by frequent chills and pins and needles all over my body. I can eat and eat and eat but not put on any weight. What could be wrong with me?
Avatar n tn Here's my take, for what it's worth. Calories aren't a very good guide to weight -- they're a factor but how you metabolize your food is more important. Also realize that most of the people in the world who have been studied for having the healthiest lives eat a lot of carbs -- they aren't on high protein diets. We all know that vegetables are the healthiest foods and should make up the largest portion of our diets, but they are all carbs.
Avatar n tn Hi, I found a link recently which was discussing research on the impact of high protein diets on subjects with and without kidney disease. They concluded that high protein did not cause kidney disease, and neither did it cause most kidney disease to deteriorate.. I will post the link if I can find it again. Controlling BG levels is essential to preventing kidney complications, and has been shown to reverse disease in many cases.
Avatar f tn Just been to see midwife have protein plus in my urine but no high blood pressure anyone else had this thanks
Avatar f tn ve started him on a strictly wet food diet. Am trying several different high animal protein, low carb/grain free canned foods (Merrick, Wellness, EVO, Instinct) to see what he will eat. He is eating A LOT and seems to be putting some weight back on. He is urinating less (was completely filling the box twice a day) however, he still has a very runny stool. How long does it normally take to see a change in that? I do NOT want to put him on steroids if I can avoid it.
Avatar m tn s one of the reasons I choose to feed kibble -- because the better dog food companies do research and testing on the nutritional balance of the foods they sell. If you can work out a way to feed a high quality kibble as your base diet, then you can still supplement it with raw foods. IMO that's a pretty healthy diet. I know that some of the raw food people will disagree with me, and I don't want to start any disputes here. To each his own.
Avatar f tn Do not lower your calories!!! Eat whole, high protein foods. You can worry about losing weight later (chances are you are gradually without trying anyway) working out is always a good idea, but don't push too hard or the stress can effect your milk supply. Remember to drink as much water as possible and eat as much protein as you can, you are building your baby's muscles and baby needs that to grow strong and healthy. Above all, remember supply and demand!
Avatar f tn My doctor assumed it was ibs and possible intolerence to gluten.. so I began doing an elimination diet (GAPS diet) and it worked great for about 3/4 months. And then suddenly one day I stopped digesting meat/protein, and then it went from that to abdominal pain in the upper right side of my stomach and lower belly button area and then I stopped being able to digest anything except bananas pretty much....
Avatar f tn The cost is hard to predict as it depends on a number of factors. Ask your vet for an honest appraisal based on no complications. Then get quotes from two other vets and see if the prices are reasonably similar. Stopping the med's to check on the diet... well, it isn't a bad idea, but you have to be aware there is always a risk when you change the situation. I'd consider keeping a careful watch on her stool if you do.
Avatar f tn That's an awful lot of protein... my doctor has me on a high protein diet, 108 grams/day and most days I can't make that, even with a couple of shakes. Are shakes and water all you plan to consume? If so, that's not good or sustainable. In addition, weight lost too and not in a healthy manner will most likely be regained as soon as you start eating normally again, even if maintaining a healthy diet.
