Estradiol (estrogen) 26 pg/mL FSH 5.0 mIU/mL LH 12.2 mIU/mL These are the ones they have done. What does this mean?

I had a total Thyroidectomy (with papillary cancer and De Quervain's thyroiditis, difficult surgery and i am having problems with vocal cords and throat) on March 27th.

Avatar n tn I found out i have high cortisol levels form blood work. A Dr. in emerg called my house to tell me my thyriod hormone was a little low and said he'd fax something to my family Dr. My family docotor said it was fine. I asked for a copy of the lab work from emerg and it said my lymphocytes were High. I asked my doc what caused my heart rate to go to 148 at rest and my b/p was low.
Avatar m tn TSH is Thyroid Stimulating Hormone and the lower your thyroid hormone levels go, they higher TSH goes, because your pituitary gland (where the TSH comes from) is trying to get your thyroid to produce more thyroid hormones, but since you don't have a thyroid, that's not going to happen. Your TSH is way too high and it looks like your Free T4 might be way too low, but we need the reference ranges from your lab report.
Avatar f tn Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) is secreted by the pituitary in response to serum thyroid hormone levels. So you cannot control TSH directly. Also, symptoms result from the actual thyroid hormone levels, not TSH. Based on the levels you listed I suspect that your T4 and T3 tests were for Total T4 and Total T3. Those tests represent total serum levels. Most all of that is bound to protein. Only the small portions not bound to protein are biologically active.
Avatar f tn The high levels could be hashimotos, meaning your antibodies attack your thyroid so you have low, very low thyroid levels. same for perioxidase antibodies. TSH being high(4.64)is considered high according to new lab results which means you have low thyroid issues among other things. Again, I am not a Dr., just been through this. If you find a Dr. that is a family Dr. many times they can help you understand this better. Endos for me, in this area, were not so good about thyroid issues.
Avatar n tn Then I would talk about how the real objective should be to relieve symptoms. And when it comes to relieving symptoms, scientific studies have shown that the thyroid hormone test that correlates best with hypo symptoms is free T3. Here is a link to a study, and a quote from the study. Give the doctor a copy of this info also. http://www.ingentaconnect.com/content/routledg/cjne/2000/00000010/00000002/art00002 "Purpose: To evaluate and compare laboratory indices of thyroid function.
Avatar f tn I have never had itchy boobs during my period but i now have really itchy boobs everyday. Do you think this is a sign of pregnancy or due to my high prolactin levels? I know women who are breast feeding also have high prolactin levels. Im TTC almost 3 years now had my HSG to clear out tubes 1week and half ago. Im really hoping this is my time. Was just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences? ?
Avatar f tn TSH itself causes no symptoms. TSH is a pituitary hormone that signals to the thyroid gland to produce thyroid hormone. Doctors tend to believe that TSH accurately reflects the levels of the active thyroid hormones, but it cannot be shown to correlate well with either Free T3 or Free T4, much less with symptoms which are far more important. Having said all that I have to add that in your case your TSH is high enough that it is a strong indicator that you are hypothyroid.
Avatar f tn It means that you probably have higher thyroid hormone levels. Ideally, when TSH is high, thyroid hormones are low and when TSH is low, thyroid hormones are high. What are your FT3 and FT4 levels? Please post them, along with reference ranges, which vary lab to lab and have to come from your own report. What, if any, symptoms do you have?
Avatar f tn Just because your TSH came down to 0.1, doesn't mean you are hyper. You're only hyper if your Free T3 and/or Free T4 are too high, or if you have hyper symptoms, such as weight loss, diarrhea, etc. Do you have hyper symptoms? Did you have Free T3 and Free T4 tested? If not, you should ask your doctor to do them. TSH is a pituitary hormone and when one is on a thyroid replacement medication, it often does not correlate to actual hormone levels. My own TSH stays at < 0.
3065790 tn?1340728823 When your thyroid struggles to produce T4, and your T4 levels drop, your brain releases more TSH. So higher TSH levels indicate lower thyroid hormone levels...at least in primary hypothyroidism. People with primary hyperthyroidism on the other hand, will have low TSH levels and high T4 levels because their brain is trying to shut down their over active thyroid, and failing at it. So you have hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn t have raging hyper symptoms despite your very high FT4, I think you have to have FT3 tested (along with a repeat of FT4 and TSH) to see what's going on with that. If your FT3 is low, it would explain why you can't lose weight. Also, If your doctor will do it, I'd ask for RT3 (reverse T3). Many mainstream doctors view RT3 as something close to witchcraft, so it can be difficult to get them to do this test.
1847989 tn?1319105097 just found out I have high levels of TSH according to my bloodwork, I will knw exactly what levels they are at tomorrow but I have checked google and I do have 90 percent of the symptoms of hypothyroidism except for the yellow skin, in fact mine is pale according to alot of people lately lol. So this explains the sore lump feeling on the lower left side of my neck Im assuming?
Avatar f tn At the age of 35 yrs, having T3 and T4 within normal limits, T3 65 ng/dl and T4 1.00 but TSH value shockingly shows >150 during a routine checkup, with no apparent symptoms/reasons. Anything to get concerned about?
Avatar n tn When TSH levels are low, thyroid hormone levels are , typically, high and the patient is hyper. TSH is what many doctors go by when determining thyroid status and deciding whether to medicate, increase/decrease, etc. It's important to know, however, that TSH is a pituitary hormone, not a thyroid hormone and there are many circumstances under which it does not correlate well with actual thyroid hormones. Free T4 and Free T3 should be tested every time TSH is tested.
