Avatar n tn We have described best glucose levels in children as they grow and develop: Five and younger: Normal blood sugar targets are 100 to 200mg/dl. Age 5 to 11: Normal blood sugar targets are 70 to 150mg/dl. Fasting blood sugars should be nearer to 70mg/dL. Blood sugar after meals and before bedtime should be near 150mg/dL. Age 12 and older A healthy glucose level of age 12 and elder should be near 70mg/dl when fasting and 150mg/dl after meals.
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar n tn As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases. An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.
1773108 tn?1314158067 Good Morning, I have a question about high blood sugar levels that don't seem to stabilize. My boyfriend has been struggling for years with high blood sugar. He told me this morning that his level was at 480+!!!! He says he doesn't feel any different whether it's high or low. The lowest it's been (to my knowledge) is still in the high range of 200+.
8734227 tn?1405101066 I just received a message from my dr office saying my levels were high in my one hour glucose test.. I tried to call them back as soon as I got out of work but the office is closed till tomorrow. . I know that I'm going to schedule a 3hour test.. my question is what do I do until I get my next test? What food should I stay away from? What foods would be best to eat? This is my first pregnancy and I don't want to harm my baby!! Any advice will be greatly appreciated! !!
Avatar n tn It sounds as if you have a glucometer since you said you have checked his glucose levels. Do you know what is considered "normal" in glucose readings? Glucose levels for non-diabetics and for diabetic people go up and down all day long. Most doctors don't consider glucose levels to be too low unless they drop below 70, but a person can start to feel a little bit bad if in the low 70's, so this might explain why your son didn't feel like eating when his sugar was at 73.
Avatar n tn The real danger is if glucose levels are STAYING high all day. If this is happening (and you can tell by doing more frequent testing for a few days at random times), then you probably need your doctor's help in lowering the daily average so that your baby's health is not at risk. I would expect that most doctors would try all of the simple helps before putting the expectant mother on insulin, so don't worry too much about that yet.
Avatar f tn Clinically I’m overweight but I am a weightlifter so I do have a lot of muscle. Can a kidney stone raise glucose levels. I checked again this morning and it was 112 which it’s never been that high.
Avatar n tn My numbers are high when I check them right after getting up in the morning. Usually around 6:30am. Does anyone have any advise to bring these numbers down an it?
Avatar m tn Average fasting sugar level in the morning : 125 mg/dl (varies from 120 to 129) Average sugar level after two hours of breakfast (After taking Metformin): 120mg/dl Average sugar level after two hours of lunch : 150 mg/dl Problem: 1) There is weight loss of about 6 Kgs in the past 2 years. My weight of 56 Kgs became 50 kgs now. How to regain my weight 2) Morning sugar level is as high as 125 mg/dl average.
Avatar n tn In my 36 years with diabetes, I have noticed that sometimes I can FEEL the drop in glucose before my glucose levels get below normal. The symptoms that you describe can happen even when the actual number is normal at the time. In my case, when this happens it ALWAYS means that my glucose is on the way down towards hypoglycemia even if when i test it, my glucose is normal. If I test again in a half hour (and do not eat or drink any carbohydrates), the glucose will be low.
Avatar n tn Caffeine can make my glucose levels rise a couple of hours later also. Not always, but often. I compensate by testing a couple of hours after my first sip of coffee and compensating with a tiny bit of insulin if glucose levels are rising. I believe that in my case, my body starts producing adrenalin when the caffeine kicks in. And adrenalin can make sugars rise. So I suspect that this effect is different for different people.
576054 tn?1217783138 My doctor will be doing tests in a few weeks, but I have had some fairly high glucose levels lately. I also have a history of high blood pressure although that has been better most of the time lately. Tonight all of a sudden I started having a terrible headache and nausea. My glucose level was somewhat high. So either this was due to the glucose levels or due to high blood pressure. Whatever it is, I am so tired of being sick and tired all of the time.
Avatar n tn is commonly associated with two conditions. Spinal stenosis and diabetes. With abnormal blood sugar levels in the morning the osmolality of tisues are affected, which causes fluid to exert pressure on nerves, causing numbness. After breakfast, as the sugar levels improves, the pressure relaxes and the numbness disappears. Thus, the first tests to take with "morning numbness" (assuming it is not positional are blood glucose and an hbcA1c.
Avatar m tn In the morning, I feel shaky and dizzy...
Avatar n tn have you tested your glucose levels when these symptoms hit you? You may find that your glucose levels have dropped too low, for these are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar. Many people do mention tingling in hands when glucose levels drop too low. I would heartily recommend that the next time this happens, you do an immediate glucose test, and then perhaps test again about 45 minutes later.
Avatar f tn The oral glucose tolerance test is conducted by measuring blood glucose levels five times over a period of 3 hours. In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
Avatar m tn I dont think this med is taking care of my diabetetes, i ahe other high sugar levels at times, have swae\tinf spells, and i ahve checked it during these and my blood sugar isnt low. any sugestions out there. BY iam type 11 diabetic.
390388 tn?1279636213 Both. Dr's want hear your prandial (fasting b4 breakfast) and postprandial (2-3 hrs after meal) results. Well, mine does. You probably know this but its worth repeating; some meters require calibrating to the test strip prior to usage or the test readings/results will be inaccurate. Your postprandial of 124 is really good. If you are fasting 8-10 hrs prior to prandial test, you may want to discuss with your doctor why your morning levels are high.
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar m tn Check your glucose level in the middle of the night (around 3 AM). If your blood sugar is high, you are probably experiencing Dawn Phenomenon. One thing to try is not to snack 2-3 hours before bedtime. Carbs will raise glucose levels during the night.
Avatar m tn 8-10 hrs with no food or colored liquids. Normally first thing in morning before breakfast. Fasting and preprandial - 60/70 to 99 mg/dl Prediabetes - 100 to 125 mg/dl Diabetes - above 126 mg/dl 1b.Glucose levels Postprandial [2-3 hours post meal] Diabetics <141 mg/dl, optimum <121 mg/dl A 'normal' nondiabetic would average <99 mg/dl 1c. Random testing is useless. Test before walking then 15-20 mins after when your body has come to rest.
