Avatar n tn ok i have recently taken a urine test because i had some kind of uti they said there was a very high abnormal range of glucose in my urine but when i came back the next day they gave me a blood suger test which was normal does anyone know what may have caused the high glucose in my urine?
Avatar n tn Most doctors will do a fasting glucose reading, perhaps a glucose tolerance test, or perhaps a hemoglobin a1c test, which would show the average glucose level in your body during a 3-month period. That really is the best test to find out whether your body is usually maintaining healthy glucose levels or not.
Avatar n tn They starting gettin more sever ( extream dry moth, mental foginess, shaking, vomiting) so I went to the Dr. They tested my fasting glucose levels in the office (finger *****) and it was 227. I was immedicately sent to a lab for blood work. My gloucose level came back at 80. That was w/in half an hour. A week later I returned to the Dr. office they said I was "normal". I insisted on another test. They did another in office test (fasting again) and I came back at 180.
Avatar n tn I thought it was strange so that night I asked my father for his Blood glucose meter and when I tested my son, his glucose level was 188. Should I re-test his glucose again?
Avatar n tn It sounds as if you have a glucometer since you said you have checked his glucose levels. Do you know what is considered "normal" in glucose readings? Glucose levels for non-diabetics and for diabetic people go up and down all day long. Most doctors don't consider glucose levels to be too low unless they drop below 70, but a person can start to feel a little bit bad if in the low 70's, so this might explain why your son didn't feel like eating when his sugar was at 73.
Avatar n tn It really is imperative that she have a true lab test done to see if there really is a blood sugar problem. She could do a glucose test in the lab to compare the number with the number that the lab gets if she thinks that her machine is in error. Which doesn't seem likely to me since your husband's result was normal and significantly lower than hers. Herbs of any sort should not be causing this high reading. If she is diabetic, herbal remedies alone will not solve her problem.
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar m tn She said there were traces of glucose and white blood cells in my urine. She has asked me to go in for a blood test and I think a Prostate psa test. I'm worried it could be something serious?
576054 tn?1217783138 My doctor will be doing tests in a few weeks, but I have had some fairly high glucose levels lately. I also have a history of high blood pressure although that has been better most of the time lately. Tonight all of a sudden I started having a terrible headache and nausea. My glucose level was somewhat high. So either this was due to the glucose levels or due to high blood pressure. Whatever it is, I am so tired of being sick and tired all of the time.
Avatar n tn have you tested your glucose levels when these symptoms hit you? You may find that your glucose levels have dropped too low, for these are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar. Many people do mention tingling in hands when glucose levels drop too low. I would heartily recommend that the next time this happens, you do an immediate glucose test, and then perhaps test again about 45 minutes later.
Avatar n tn I am really trying to better understand blood glucose levels as they relate to a prognosis of diabetes, especially in relation to your diet and quantity of food.
Avatar n tn Recently I have been suffering from anxiety attacks and light headedness. Done a fasting blood sugar test and it seems I have high blood sugar levels. Than this be the result of my anxiety attacks This discussion is related to Mysteriously high fasting blood glucose.
Avatar n tn First, any prandial test (fasting and after meal) captures glucose only at test time, not yesterday, two days ago, or a three weeks ago. It really doesn't tell a doctor what is going with your glucose levels at all times of the day. Home glucose meters are good to see how well one is managing their glucose levels. Having scaled results (high to low, or normal to near high or above) calls for an A1c test to see the entire picture. An A1c test measures your glucose going back three months.
1096641 tn?1271707225 1) whether the types of food consumed are causing unnecessary/unexpected rises in your blood glucose levels above normal levels [see below]; 2) whether your body can shed the excess glucose caused by the foods/liquids consumed. Normal levels are: * Fasting [prandial]: 70-99 mg/dl * After meal 2-3 hrs [postprandial]: below 180 mg/dl although some doctors prefer to see below 140 mg/dl. You need to reference your lab copy of the test results for the ranges expected by your doctor.
Avatar n tn Caffeine can make my glucose levels rise a couple of hours later also. Not always, but often. I compensate by testing a couple of hours after my first sip of coffee and compensating with a tiny bit of insulin if glucose levels are rising. I believe that in my case, my body starts producing adrenalin when the caffeine kicks in. And adrenalin can make sugars rise. So I suspect that this effect is different for different people.
Avatar f tn The oral glucose tolerance test is conducted by measuring blood glucose levels five times over a period of 3 hours. In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
Avatar n tn The thing that worries me the most is that the glucose test came out about 5 points high and I have to go in for the 3 hour glucose test. Has anyone had this happen and ended up not having anything wrong? I'm fearing the worst and hoping for the best.
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar n tn Its just means that your sugar levels were a bit high but dont worry that happened to me and when i took the 3 hour test everything came back normal!
Avatar m tn The body recognizes intense exercise as a stress and releases stress hormones that tells your body to increase available blood glucose to fuel your muscles. If your glucose levels exceed normal levels discuss with your doctor medication or medication adjustment.
Avatar n tn He told her to contact her doctor immediately in regards to high blood glucose. This was on Monday. She had an appointment with her primary care physician on Tuesday anyways for an unrelated issue. She said she told her primary care physician about the blood work, but her doctor didn't take it seriously or did not believe her. This is where my sister intervened. She received a call from the nephrologist's office nurse with her concerns about the blood glucose.
Avatar m tn Doctor said c peptide levels are high, and your sugars jumped a lot more in response to glucose. Will refer you to endocrinologist.
Avatar f tn If your glucose is to high at this test then you get the diagnosis of gestational diabetes. So accurate blood glucose is critical so the fasting is very important. Some docs skip the screening 1 hour test altogether and start with the three hour, which accounts for the variability in the answers above.
Avatar n tn I was told to come in for a fasting glucose test, so I did. When the test was done I had not had anything to eat for twelve hours and was famished. I also had a headache that didn't disappear until after I had eaten. To my surprise the blood glucose level came back as high -- 170. How can it be that I was so hungry but the glucose level was high?
