Avatar n tn What I found interesting, was that after looking at my favorite top 5, increase and decrease in libido was not even mentioned although they were quick to note side effects such as depression, vaginal dryness and legathy. Even the official website for Arimidex itself and the "largest known site for the most comprehensive list of side effects" doesn't touch libido...at all. Hmmm However, women taking this medication tell a different story.
Avatar n tn t enough for me to suffer the side effects. Each woman is different, though. Other women obtain a very high risk reduction rate by taking hormone-suppressors - or have a lower tolerance for risk in general and see even a 3% reduction as valuable enough to endure the significant side effects. There is a lot of pressure to take hormone-suppressors and many articles around - a lot of it written by so called experts and placed through publicity channels in the mainstream media.
Avatar f tn The most serious effect from high doses is that estrogen (the active ingredient in Incurin) may have a tumour-promoting effect in target organs with estrogen receptors, such as the mammary gland. The most dangerous effect of PPA (phenylpropanolamine) is hypertension.
Avatar f tn If you go to chemocare.com you can read all the side effects of Tamoxifen. What you mention are all listed there. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. Avatar f tn I am a 45 year old women who has been very active. I ran two half marathans in the past year. The most recent in May. In July I was diagnosed with DVT and PE. I am on Coumadin. 216278 tn?1308861082 m on my third round of femara, and had no side effects the first month, but the second and third cycle, I did have a headache on and off for a couple of days. No tummy aches or breaking out, though. BUT, since you took such a high dose all at once, it wouldn't surprise me if the stimulation of the ovaries is causing some crampiness. Like dnikki said, you could always call your doctor and check. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn Enlarged breasts are one of the first and most noticeable side effects to appear in men when estrogen levels are elevated. This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too. Other side effects include loss of muscle tone, a decrease in body hair, shrinking testes, depression, fatigue, lower energy levels, poor memory, low stress tolerance, an ncrease in fat around the mid-section (belly fat) and erectile dysfunction.
Avatar f tn A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc. and even more in women than men, so the only true way to know if you had abnormally low levels would have been to test you a lot, not just twice. You did have the same levels twice, so it might be a problem. A question would be, how's your sexual desire? How's your stamina? How's your ability to build muscle? How's your energy levels?
Avatar f tn My ob/gyn had me to do some additional blood work which shows that my estrogen level is very high regardless I'm taking the estrogen blocker med Tamoxifan. Therefore, she recommended me I should consider a surgery to take out both of my ovaries and uterus at the same time. Did anyone have this type of procedure done before, and what are the potential side effects afterwards?

Avatar m tn I recently did a saliva test for Cortisol and it came back high in the evening. I am having insomnia like problems and taking psychiatric drugs to help keep me asleep. These are my test results in the picture blow. I am planning on trying supplementation first to reduce my night time cortisol. What do you all recommend? Avatar n tn Is there a clinical study and shows femara vs placebo rather than femara vs tamoifen (novartis trial)? What is the general recommendation? Can you stop femara if side effects become a quality of life issue? Thank you.
Avatar m tn Some sites even stated I should have been on HCG during my therapy to reduce the side effects of shrinking testicles, which I have experienced. HCG is supposed to reverse this so I'm wondering if this is what I need, or just another supplement I can buy to help me feel better and energetic again. My doctor has given me no suggestions or recommendations so ANY help is much appreciated!!!

Avatar f tn I think estrogen is high during pregnancy too but WAY WAY higher than what you get from an estrogen patch. My doctor feels the same as yours. I talk to him at every appointment since it is scary to me but he always tells me that it is such a low dose and that I will do just fine. Maybe it is case sensitive. My borderline was stage l. There was just one with no implants or invasion and my pelvic washings were all negative. I will be talking to him again in March about all of this.
1112541 tn?1286311213 Some herbal products (like soy isoflavones, red clover and some Chinese herbs) can act like estrogen in our bodies, and may not be safe for women who need to avoid estrogen. Also, there are some antidepressants that are supposed to be helpful for those of us who can't take the hormones, so that might be another option you could ask your doctor about. Take care!
Avatar f tn As I said in my previous post, you could talk to your Oncologist about changing the drug if Femara is giving you too much trouble.Although these anti estrogen drugs have similar side effects, some people can tolerate one better than the other. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Why don't oncologists periodically check the hormone levels of estriol, estradiol, estrone and progerterone for those of us on these drugs? Why is it that we all get the same dosage for years and the only thing checked for is CA 27-29? Wouldn't it make more sense to check the hormone levels and adjust the dosage or frequency of taking these drugs accordingly? Maybe if this were done fewer women would have to put up with so many side effects.

Avatar f tn Thank you for your answer. I already talked to my ob-gyn but he says that progesterone doesn't have side effects. I don't belive him because I know myself better than he does. I'm just looking for a way to get rid of excess progesterone in my body. I also suffer from hair loss because of progesterone. I used to have thick curly hair but I literally lost half of my hair. I sometimes hate myself for all the problems I have.

Avatar f tn Most women have no lasting side effects from an epidural. Only about 2-3% of women have lasting side effects such as headaches and even less likely partial paralysis. The most common side effect of an epidural is a drop in moms BP. This can sometimes reduce fetal heart rate but usually isn't enough to cause any harm to mom or baby. If you go in and there are any concerns with baby's heart rate they may not allow an epidural at all.
