High estrogen side effects in women

Common Questions and Answers about High estrogen side effects in women

If you were my patient, I would advise you that the side effects that you are experiencing could be due to the Mirena. Many women don't respond well to the progesterone, even though only a very small amount is systemic. It could also be the lack of natural estrogen that is affecting you this way. You may need to have it removed, or ad something back--eg. take birth control pills. Good luck!
In October and November I missed my periods and when I went to see my doc the blood test showed that I have very, very high estrogen level in the blood (almost 1000). Also, the pelvis Ultrasound showed that I have lots of big (5-6 cm) cysts with walls on both ovaries. My ovaries were clean back in July when I did the CT scan. My obgyn said that it's very weird and confusing to have high estrogen, no periods and the cysts at the same time.
It is not uncommon for women to experience side effects from the aromatase inhibitors such as arimidex. You might touch base with your oncologist to discuss the following: Any medications or interventions that may help in dealing with the side effects and/or there are other drugs (such as femara) that have a similar mechanism of action in terms of estrogen suppression. Your oncologist can also discuss with you the risks versus benefits in terms of your specific case.
I have not gone through menopause myself, but I've dealt with some of the side effects, which sent me straight to researching. Unfortunately, I can't put my hands on the results, but I can tell you that menopause and hypothroid go hand in hand. Darn, I wish I could put my finger on the details, but I'll look again and post you if I find the test infor (it's good stuff).
Progesterone has decreased over time from 58% down to the most recent test where she is BELOW range. I understand that early in the follicular phase the estrogen and Progesterone are at the lowest levels. But that does not explain the consistent decrease of Progeesterone. My wife if currently 45 years old so this could be a natural decline as she approaches menopause or is evidence she is in preimenopaus. It is the testosterone that is of most concern.
Be careful with Red Yeast Rice as it is the original statin in natural form. You can have the same side effects as a prescription statin. Also, because it is a supplement it is not controlled by the FDA so dosages can vary between pills, brands and bottles.
Initially, I bled a lot but then my homeopath, who is a registered GP treated me to control the bleeding. All in all I have had no side effects until last Friday when I had the first one taken out and replaced with a new one. I have been nauseous, lightheaded and slightly feverish for the last 3 days. My gynae checked it again this morning and it is in place. She is running blood tests to see what is wrong.I need answers and checking out other sites.
I am sticking with the 11 pm or 3 am time because of the nasty side effects if I wait and take it in the morning. For me the side effects were WORSE with synthroid. I guess I am in the minority there. Anyone else have a story like mine? I am so new to this I want advice. I also have a cyst on the other side which they have to watch. My brother's cyst was malignant and he has no thyroid now. He has been on Syn for 18 years and has never complained. he gets up at 4:30 to take his.
Plus, there are so many women around here that now want to take it, I'm planning a seminar. So, the side effects will be helpful in discussion. My doctor has been injecting it for 2 years as a maintenance program and so has his wife. Plus, he says in some of his fibromyalgia patients, the hcg has really helped their pain lesson (not in all but in some). Everybody should investigate it for themselves and need to feel good about, wholly, before taking it.
I have been taking Savella for three months. The drug is incredible in relieving fibromyalgia pain. However, the side effects are horrible. Horrible sweats and hot flashes, constipation, insomnia, nausea, and during the past week I have passed out four times. I have decreased my dosage from 100 mg. to 12.5 mg. per day. I have decided that this drug is dangerous. Just read the hundreds of reviews. Savella reacts with different people in different ways.
Supplementation with DHEA/DHEAS may be a preferred treatment in women due to its ability to raise androgen levels without significant side effects. Anecdotally, rotation from one opioid medication to another may also be effective. In summary, opioid treatment is intended to reduce patients’ pain, and to improve physical and social functioning.
I know that *most* ovarian cancer is not estrogen receptive, but I am reading that treatments such as Arimidex and Tamoxifin have been useful in these cases. Any information that can be passed along would be much appreciated.
Is it like saying just taking longer birth control pills? What are the side effects? What are the benefits? Has FDA approved? Where i can search more about Yaz? Will it affect my future plan of having a healthy pregnancy? Also, i was told if i do want to get pregnant, i should wait 6 months after taking the birth control pills. is that true?
I am hoping I am ready Sunday for trigger, but if not I will have to go back in. I don't mind that.. I just hope, hope at least 1 follies on my good side.... If I don't we probably won't do IUI :( I would love to give it a try.
Most of the women in my February group jumped ship early, but my little one is hanging in there. I'm scheduled for a c-section on Valentine's Day unless baby turns, although that's unlikely at this point. I can hardly believe this journey is about to end and new adventure is going to begin. I am so incredibly grateful to the many amazing women I've met on medhelp who have encouraged and supported me along the way.
I am 50 and in 2000 had lumpectomy & radiation on rt breast for DCIS. In Dec 03 a surgical biopsy of lump in left breast found infiltrating ductal cancer. A subsequent core needle biopsy on another 'suspicious' area also showed invasive lobular. I had mastectomy & sentinel lymph node biopsy. One lymph node was + so axcillary was later done but no more positive nodes were found. Pathology report states ER positive, PR negative, HER-2/neu negative (+1), tumor 1 cm, final grade III.
A Strong Woman VS. A Woman Of Strength A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape… But a woman of strength builds relationships to keep her soul in shape. A strong woman isn't afraid of anything… But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear. A strong woman won't let anyone get the better of her… But a woman of strength gives the best of herself to everyone.
Well i have been on my meds for 3 days now and so far so good no real side effects feeling crampy in the ovary area and i'm bloated hopefully things are happening in there i go for my u/s on fri 27th then we'll know how many and how many and how big please keep your fingers crossed
headache and hot flashes sounds like estrogen issues. The estrogen and pro will stay in your body for awhile...excuse me..estrogen will still be there (estrone is the estrogen produced in the fat during menopause)..but your levels are off and maybe low (I know for sure that low levels cause night sweats and that hot flases can be caused by fluctuating levels. Headaches are often a hormonal symptom. Glad you posted. Keep researching.
Unfortunately, tubals can cause heavier and longer periods and most women are not told this beforehand. Most women are not told about the long-term effects of hysterectomy either which is why it is so common. Since only 2% are done for cancer in the U.S., most women would likely forego having a hysterectomy if they knew the truth beforehand. You are right to be concerned about an increased risk of pelvic organ prolapse as well as vaginal vault prolapse after hysterectomy.
Boy that med is really kicking my butt this time. I've had a good bit of the side effects. But it's all worth it in the end! Yesterday I had major cramping in my left ovary. But it seemed to let up if I wasn't walking. So now we just have to wait for a smiley......then it will be IUI time :) Oh, remember how I said that took blood to see if I have a clotting disorder? Well the ladies had a really hard time getting blood out of me.

all done with Clomid I hate the side effects it really makes me feel weird...so just on standby waiting on + opk...have been having small twinges on the left (no tube there) but praying I o from the right....
But normally all my AF pain is in my lower back. It's a trait in my family. All the women have 100% back labor and we all have back cramps during AF. Weird. But this time my lower back is sore... but not cramping. All my cramps are just little twinge cramps in my abdomen. Way low, so I know it's not my stomach. So I don't know what that's about yet. We'll see in a few days. We're supposed to test on Sunday. Not much longer to wait now!

When I was reading for information on the internet, I don't think I read that much information as far as how long it would be in your system. I did read in a book, that states that the side effects would only last for as long as you take the medication. But today, I am feel horrible. I don’t know when to test, because I have been irregular, for the past 6 months. December , I had a cycle for 16 days. Then nothing until March 4th.
(not this one) Okay, now, my concern is the effcts after STOPPING yasmin. I understand that all bc pills are different and so are we women as far as side effects go. I have read postings about women who stopped taking yasmin and have experienced the following: - anxiety, panic attacks, heart palpitations and fluttering - depression - excessive weight gain - hair loss *I already have a prob. with depression, anxiety and panic attacks, so I am currently on medication.
