Avatar m tn My brother and I take both a statin for our high cholestorol and Tricor for the high trigs. Our blood is so thick with fat we have no choice but to take these meds. On the meds are levels are almost perfect. Without we are doomed. Try doing a search on familial hypercholesterolemia or familial hypertriglyceridemia for more information.
Avatar m tn Chrs Gym for reply, I do take omega 3 nearly everday, Cinamin, and veggies and fruit. I am on a DASH diet as such to help keep my blood pressure down. Also just back from a 18 m bike ride to another town. So I would consider myself doing what you say already. I was on a low card last year and had better Triglyceride figures than what I have now on the DASH. It could be the frutose lvls though from 4 to pieces of fruit daily and salads.
Avatar f tn Before this issue also he was having high levels of triglyceride in this blood. Before 2 months when he checked it was under 250 and when he checked this month it was increased to 393. Avatar n tn There may be many causes for the high triglycerides, such as obesity, high sugar diets, diabetes mellitus, excess alcohol intake, familial disposition. However, the most important is Unknown causes which are known as idiopathic factors, such factors which have not been explained as yet. I am sure that you would be practicing measures to ensure that they remain in the safe range from you. You may find more information at: http://en.wikipedia.

Avatar f tn I drink off/on but had been drinking in excess prior to having my blood work drawn. My triglycerides came back high so I need to go back and have my blood drawn again. How long after quitting drinking will my triglycerides go down to normal?
Avatar m tn I'd like to add, since this is my true enemy, that having high triglycerides means there is fat (plaque) in the blood and this is what clogs the arteries. Make sure he is taking the fenofibrates (Tricor) and a statin.
Avatar m tn Hi, and sorry you have a moderately high blood sugar, and triglycerides. These things can definitely be controlled by diet and exercise (provided the blood sugar problem is not genetic. Drinking alcohol and not exercising will raise your triglycerides. Also eating junk food and a lot of sugary foods can raise your blood sugar too. You sound like you are normally vegetarian? or eat better? Are your blood sugar values and triglycerides usually normal? If so get back on your normal diet.
Avatar m tn There is an extremely and I mean EXTREMELY small chance that Tricor can cause Diabetes, but it is extremely rare. How high was you fasting blood sugar level? What does your doctor say? Let us know so we can hellp provide better help.
Avatar f tn For triglycerides, alcohol is a big culprit. Also true . . . drinking alcohol raises blood pressure. Eat whole grains and avoid sugar. Niacin (*** check with doctor first before taking!!) and B vitamins (okay to take on your own) are also said to help. https://www.webmd.
Avatar n tn Food containing red meat, dairy products (butter, oil, cream), organ meat, and high sugar can increase triglycerides. Persisting high levels can be dangerous. However with most people a diet control helps. Presence of diabetes and hypothyroidism too can cause a high triglyceride level and hence should be eliminated. Please consult your doctor regarding this. If diet control and exercise does not help, then there are drugs which can be taken to lower these. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn my brother has 210 triglycerides in blood . Is it serious?. how he can reduce the level. His age is 32. Weight is 67kg.
Avatar m tn Much depends on how high you LDL is. It needs to be under 130, preferably under 100. Cut out the empty carbs like sugars, pastas, breads and don't drink. All this will increase you LDL and TGLs and total cholesterol. Also, your HDL is high which is good, but some exercise may increase the HDL levels and that will help off set any high LDL, but ask your doctor first.
Avatar f tn Raising HDL is a good protective for high LDL cholesterol, and antioxidants that affect the blood vessels will help protect from the effects of triglycerides, but again, the best way to lower them is to not ingest them in the first place.
Avatar f tn Please tell me how to lower my t3 levels. I also have lost all enamel on teeth, and have become pre-diabetic with high blood sugar levels . The intense sweating & insomnia is the worst.
Avatar f tn 30 What is the meaning of these numbers in this context? I am aware that high Triglycerides/ Low HDL can mean insulin resistance and could also mean that ApoB is elevated even with low ldl. Does this warrant an ApoB or A1c measurement? My doctor isn't concerned. I have a bit of a family history of heart disease so I would like to make sure I am covering my bases, especially since I am young and have time on my side.
Avatar n tn Thank you everyone for all of the info. This is totally new to me!
