hernia-surgery

Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn I have already planned the surgery to fix the hernia for next week . 2 days ago I had an ultrasound which showed that I have gallbladder sludge and maybe some very small stones . I never had any pains in the stomach and the only thing that might be a symptoms is some digestive problems . The doctor advised that since I am going to surgery for the hernia I should proceed with the removal of the gallbladder .
Avatar m tn i had hernia surgery 3 1/2 years ago. In recent days I have had a lot of discomfort in the area where the surgery was performed, left side inguinal. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male who had inguinal hernia repair on left side 3 years ago. Weeks after surgery I as well returned to my surgeon complaining about my right testicle not hanging as low or where it use to hang. He said don't worry about it and to workout, run, do whatever I want at 100%. Well off and on over the past years I get pain in my right testicle still. Any pressure over my surgery repair, and I can feel pain in my right testicle.
Avatar f tn Im 11w and my question is the doctors found a small hernia above my belly button about a year and a half ago and they saw no need to go into surgery for it but now that im pregnant do u think this hernia is going to cause issues at all??? Or does anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks ladies!!!!
341655 tn?1240368839 Hi a year and half ago I had Nissan Fundiplication Surgery. Very successful surgery. Although there is no guarantee that it will last or for how long. I had a thoracic surgeon a very good one. Here I am now one & a half years after and I have been diagnosed now with a paraesophogeal hernia and a zenekers diverticulum. The first hernia was a sliding hernia and they are very common. Often not treated if no symptoms are present. I did have symptoms. As I do now.
Avatar m tn I had to have emergency surgery for a bowel obstruction several years ago following a number of stents in the LAD and RCA, and exactly the protocol that CCFHeartMD25 suggested was followed. They held the scheduled Plavix dose and planned for some extra bleeding with blood plasma. I indeed had some extra bleeding but they were ready for it. As long as all the doctors are on the same page, I'd precede with confidence.
Avatar m tn few years ago I had a hiatle surgery done. two years later I am having the same problems I had before surgery. What did I do wrong. In a month I have an appt. with a gastriology.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend had hernia surgery over 2 years ago, since the surgery he has a lot of pain during and after sex. It is to the point he doesn't want to get off, because that is when it hurts the worst. Is there something he can do to correct this problem.
Avatar m tn Hello, I've been recommended by my urologist to fix the hydrocele 6 months ago, and I have finally decided to do it. But I am also suspicious that I have hernia on the same side (I have heard tearing sound few years ago while exercising, don't have any symptoms tho). My urologist didn't even evuluate me for that, and honestly I am not prepared to have hernia surgery anyway (I hope hydrocele surgery is a bit easier to recover?).
Avatar m tn Up to this point he has had no symptoms until a year ago when he went into the hospital with chest pain and the same hoarseness of his voice. We knew he had this condition about 5 years ago when he had a motorcycle accident and the scans showed the condition, but hasn't affected him until last year as far as breathing, etc. He's actually been a high school basketball official for the past 35 yrs. and has never had a problem until a year ago.
Avatar f tn The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too. Since the recent upper GI series said “no obvious hiatal hernia” my gastroenterologist said she doesn’t believe my GERD is caused by hiatal hernia. I went to a surgeon who specializes in repairing hiatal hernias for another opinion. He told me that he believes my GERD is caused by hiatal hernia and I should get surgery to fix it.
Avatar n tn I am searching for some excessive that will not aggravate my hernia. I also had fibroid surgery a few years ago and since then I have gained some stomach fat. Do you have some suggestions on what excessive are safe for the upper and lower abdominal are.

Avatar m tn I had an ilioinguinal hernia repair over 10 years ago and I believe my ilioinguinal nerve is the one which had been severed. I likewise have exactly the same issues you do -- there is definitely a connection. Prior to surgery, I could instantaneously get an erection, it was hard as steel and would last as long as it needed to. Afterwards, I struggle to get one using manual stimulation, and it quickly goes away without constant stimulation. What a nightmare.
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
Avatar f tn I had an inguinal hernia 9 years ago and it was repaired with surgery and a mesh. I have a new hernia in almost the same place. My original scar has not been visible for a long time but all of a sudden the scar has reappeared and seems more pink than normal where the new hernia is. Any cause for concern? I wouldn't say the current hernia has changed colour... Usual flesh colour out than the old scar showing up again.
Avatar n tn I did an open surgery Nissen around 6 years ago and never had a problem. Only beginning of this year was having some few problems with reflux and as well pain under my ribs when I bend or laugh. I did a gastroscopy last April and they found only a small hiatus hernia and a small polyp at the duodenal valve but surgeon told me all was ok.
Avatar m tn An incisional hernia can occur years after a surgery, including a laparoscopic procedure. I have a hernia which has developed at the site where I had a procedure some time ago. The weakness in the abdominal wall is created by the incision, even a perfectly healed one. Then the wall is strained through excercise, heavy lifting and even weight gain causing the weaker portion of the abdominal wall to tear (herniate).
Avatar n tn Hello, I have a question for you about umbilical hernias. I'm not completely sure i have one but I used to get terrible pains in my naval area and my gyn told me that i had a hernia because the pain increased I went to a surgeon and he told me that i didn't really have one so I didn't need surgery. I still had the pain though.
Avatar f tn She had a c-section six years ago and didnt get it fixed then.
Avatar f tn Went to urgent care, they sent me to the ER of the hospital where I had the surgery. Met a nurse there that said she has a hernia and has had it for 20 years and won't get it fixed, I asked her where the hell she was before I had my surgery. They ran a bunch of tests couldn't find anything things continued to get worse. I thought maybe everything just wasn't healed after the surgery but mine had to do with nerve damage.
202436 tn?1326474333 I know someone who had this, though it was years ago so I apologize if I am a little off. The surgery is quite simple and would require no more than a one night hospital stay. Limitations would be to just not be doing heavy lifting for a period of time and then can go back to regular activities. I can look more up later, but that's all I remember off the top of my head. Sorry to hear about this and hope the surgery goes well.
Avatar f tn However I have had 8 years between each surgery and for the first 5-6 of those years after surgery my lifestyle has improved incredibly. I have to admit, I would gladly take surgery every 8 years for the benefit to my life in between as we all know when it gets really bad life is pretty awful. About the sugery itself. of course any surgery is a lot to cope with, not just physically but also mentally.
Avatar n tn I got operation on 11/30/2011 for multiple inguinal hernia. Bilateral scope surgery. I had this hernia for over 15 years. As of right now I feel tenderness and throbing in my left scrotum. "the same EXACT pain i had when I had my hernia" I was constipated for about 4 days. after 4 days I was ok using restroom. I have to use it now however I have pain in scrotum and scared to use any muscles cause it feels like something will bust out of my testicles if I try pushing. Please help.
