Grrr- at least baby sounds great (got to hear her hiccups on doplar!). Guess I'll goggle hernias until my surgery consult in 2 weeks.
Avatar f tn Im 11w and my question is the doctors found a small hernia above my belly button about a year and a half ago and they saw no need to go into surgery for it but now that im pregnant do u think this hernia is going to cause issues at all??? Or does anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks ladies!!!!
1630763 tn?1304719937 t have this particular issue, however a girlfriend of mine did. She developed a hernia while pregnant with her twins. She conceived again very quickly after they were born, so carried her second pregnancy with it still there. She said it wasn't awful. There was definately some discomfort, but nothing terrible. And as far as I know, it doesn't endanger the baby. It is something I would most definately bring up with your OB though. Perhaps there is a solution available now.
248382 tn?1274938634 I have just been dx with an umbilical hernia. my platelets are 74.3. Not in pain w/hernia. What about hernia surgery while on treatment?
Avatar f tn I thought hernias usually required surgery?
Avatar f tn I was told they wouldnt do surgery while I was pregnant unless it became strangled. I had surgery about 2 months after my son was born. I got pregnant a few weeks later and went on to deliver my 4th child without difficulties. The surgery itself didnt take long and I left the same day. You are told to do no lifting afterwards. The insiion is maybe 1.5 inches long and kinda curved like a smiley face smile.
Avatar f tn It is possible it will go down or be less noticeable after you deliver, yet will always be there. If it gets worse surgery will be the treatment. I scheduled my hernia surgery just this morning for the end of NOV. YIPPY LOL Hope This Helps.
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
1580703 tn?1651904887 The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!
Avatar m tn I am a 58 year old male. Two CAT scans show a diaphragmatic hernia on the left side. My stomach is basically under my left breastbone. I have some breathing issues but thought most of those were due to being about 30 pounds overweight. Other than that I had no idea this problem existed. The surgeon said surgery will be through the back, cutting the muscle and putting in a material to hold everything in place. He has only performed 4 or 5 of these surgeries in his 15 year career.
419158 tn?1316571604 No I haven't... but I did/do have hernias around my belly button. (Umbilical hernias) I did have the large ones repaired a few years ago, but they couldn't correct all of them. So, I was warned that when I do become pregnant (hopefully again soon) that once my belly begins to grow, there would most likely be some pain. But, my doctors did tell me that they wanted to repair any hernias that became more pronounced AFTER I had the baby.
Avatar f tn Well I've had my hernia since 2010 usually I get pain and my hernia HardenS after I lay down it goes away but now that I'm pregnant it's gotten really hard and really painful enough where I can't move to the sides.strangulated means that my honey is now sticking out and won't go in at all. but I don't think that's your case since you just started. doctors didn't want to give me surgery because I'm pregnant.
1287128 tn?1331134538 You need to let you doctor know about it at your next visit. Mine was an umbilical hernia. I spoke with a surgeon while I was pregnant but was told that unless it became stangelated they would wait untill after the baby to do sugery. I vaginaly deliverd my son and it was okay but had surgey when I was about 7 weeks PP. If it is a hernia its a routine surgery to fix it. Best of luck!!
Avatar m tn Now that u r post partum u should have further testing...could be u have a hiatial hernia that slides and while pregnant moved up into ur diaphragm and why u feel like u do.... Deff go to a GI Dr and get tested....if it is a sliding Hiatial hernia they can sometimes manually manipulate it with out surgery....but things do get shoved out of place when pregnant and this could be a reason....so do look into it further.
Avatar f tn thank you so much it did help me I'm currently awaiting to be scheduled for surgery it's just seems to be taking a while I assume because of the holidays but i pray that soon I will get the surgery done until then i will keep calling and asking whast taking so long for them to schedule me for surgery thanks again happy new year
245285 tn?1220498346 1. How invasive is a surgery for something like this? I was reading about hernia surgery and it seems some are just done by laser - but I am guessing that mine be more involved than that? 2. If I were to get the surgery now, can I still have children later, or will it be too hard to repeat the surgical procedure once undone? I am in the Cosmetic Surgery section for this because my dr was going to set me up with a Cosmetic/General surgeon when it came time to do the surgery. Thank you!
Avatar f tn Hi. Iam 32 years old. Before 12 years i had a minor surgery fixing the umbilical hernia right above my navel. During last period of time i was living normal life doing all physical activities as others after fixing my hernia. But now its back again and i can see it while i am coughing or when i pull in my abdomon. I am being fat and overweight since last 6months(height:170cm, weight:90kg).
1444053 tn?1365456815 I've just always been told that PPIs were only meant for short term use. I am still taking prevacid 30mgs 2x a day along with the steroid that I have to swallow 2x a day. I'm not familiar with pariet--what is it? I know what you mean about the pain like a heart attack!! I used to get it in the earlier days of my reflux. It would hurt in the middle of my chest, clear through to my back, up to my neck and even make my teeth hurt sometimes!!
