Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi, It depends on how large the hernia is. I had one repaired with mesh in 2006. Now I can still feel a hard tissue at the sight where the hernia was. I can also feel something if I sleep on my right side, as well as when I sneeze or cough. There is no bulging like there was before, but things do not feel like it did prior to the hernia surgery. Mine was an incarcerated hernia and I was in hospital for about 4 days.
329994 tn?1301663248 I tried to eat solid food and that has not set well on my stomach, very nauseous, so I am gone back to drinking Boost, eating soup, soft foods and that sets better on my stomach, but does not produce a bowel movement. Is this normal after surgery and will it just take more time. I also have a hiatel hernia and take Prilosec 20mg/day. Thank you for any help.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar f tn Hey has anyone had a robotic Hernia surgery done before? I have two inguinal hernias and I wanted to know if the recovery time is quicker than a traditional laparoscopic? Thanks!
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
202436 tn?1326474333 ( I have had hernia repair surgery but not that kind so I have know clue on recovery time and what not:( I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers!!
433485 tn?1321813390 I have not had the operation, and I looked to see if we had a forum for folks with hernias, but, it looks like we don't. I would do a google search on umbilical hernias and surgery, you should hopefully be able to find something that will be helpful. Sorry that I can not help you more.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
Avatar f tn Hi. I think the question of recovery from the surgery is best answered by the doctor who is treating you, since he can actually examine you and tell you what else you need to do to hasten your recovery. In general, the speed of recovery would depend on how strong the patient's body is prior to the surgery, and the presence of any other chronic illnesses (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, COPD) which may hamper full recovery.
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
454221 tn?1259445739 The risk of blood clots exits, but with an experienced surgeon, use of intermittent calf compression boots at surgery, relatively short operative time, and early ambulation, I have not seen this complication in over twenty years. Occasional seromas and minor wound healing issues are more common. Recovery time is usually about two weeks.
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
Avatar f tn s better to ask for more time and be back before than to ask for some time and then have to call and ask for more. Good luck.
1570782 tn?1296689507 Hey Everyone! I'm new to this whole forum thing, but I thought I'd give it a try. I was just wondering for those of you who've had surgery, how long your recovery has been? I just recently had the surgery and I'm having a hard time dealing with the after math. I am here to find some friends to talk to who are going through the same thing as me. Please feel free to talk with me anytime.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
Avatar n tn Thank you for the advice? Do you know of another store who carries that Flexies girdle. I like in South Texas and we don't have a Belk's department store.
Avatar m tn I can only tell you how I am progressing post op. I had my surgery on June 20th. I was in the hospital for 7 days. During that time, they had me up and walking with a walker 48 hours after surgery. I was able to walk with supervision at 10 days post op. I was able to go to Mass at 2 1/2 weeks post op. and I'm returning to work (1/2 days for 2 weeks to start) this Weds. 9/19/12.
245285 tn?1220498346 1. How invasive is a surgery for something like this? I was reading about hernia surgery and it seems some are just done by laser - but I am guessing that mine be more involved than that? 2. If I were to get the surgery now, can I still have children later, or will it be too hard to repeat the surgical procedure once undone? I am in the Cosmetic Surgery section for this because my dr was going to set me up with a Cosmetic/General surgeon when it came time to do the surgery. Thank you!
Avatar f tn My doctor suspects I have a hernia, a complication from having a large cyst, ovary and tube removed in May. I will need surgery to repair. Anyone else experience this? I'd appreciate your experiences and thoughts on recovery time, when I can return to work (I'm a preschool teacher), length of surgery, etc. Thanks!
Avatar f tn you may give us the answers and we will try to help you. 2.5 weeks is considerable time for recovery for a small bowel surgery. However, a major surgery may require more time. Do also let me know if you think that there may be some psychological problems that you may be facing.
