Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...

Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. 202436 tn?1326474333 Has anyone every had any experience with this? What type of surgery was done and how long was the recovery time? What type of limitations were set after the surgery and for how long? DH is our only source of income at this point and while this is most likely going to be a workmans comp issue I want to be prepared. Thanks for any insight!
1766773 tn?1313668171 I am on day 5 of recovery from staging surgery including removal of the omentum and I am assuming that is what is causing the left side in line with navel pain. It is worse than anything else. I guess it doesn't help that previous right oopherectomy, with 10.5 cm cyst and fall tube was just barely 3 weeks ago. My heating pad is my new friend.
Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
Avatar f tn I had my appointment today with a surgeon to make arrangemtns to get a large hiatal hernia repaired. The test show that 75% of my stomach is above my diaphragm and the junction between the esophagus and stomach is above the diaphragm. He did not talk that much about post-op care other than I would be on a soft diet for about 3 weeks and would need to be off work 3 to 4 weeks. He gave me a brochure on the surgery. I'm reading it tonight and it is talking about the risk and complications.
Avatar n tn I am curious, those of you who have had surgery for CM1 what are some of the side effects you are or have dealt with? My Neurologist was telling me about one patient who after surgery anytime she hits a bump in the road she becomes disoriented. So I am just trying to find out what other side effects there are. Thank you all for you help!
709686 tn?1277432159 I understand that we all can experience different side effects to certain meds but was hoping someone could tell me what, if any, side effects they experienced while taking Prilosec or Zegerid. Both meds are basically Omeprazole. I also noticed that, in my opinion, my doctor had me on WAY TOO MUCH. I was prescribed 40mg twice a day..EVERY DAY! I've seen that the most common script is written for 20mg a day for two weeks.
415684 tn?1257329318 My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. She is now 4 months post op but still feels lot of stretch internally at the mesh site. Other than that she has had no problems. She was even able to take IP chemo with this mesh inside.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Avatar f tn If it gets really bad there is Gamma knife surgery. It can have side effects so it is not first line. I would probably gradual up the Gabenpentin before moving to another drug. I am not sure how well the others work. You can always go to a pain clinic. My neurologist sent me there for diaphragm spasms. They cured them.
Avatar f tn so i had the ultrasound and the cyst is not major thank god and now I just have to get surgery to take out hernia and close the hole so every thing is great and I will be just fine
Avatar f tn So I had a inguinal hernia repair about 2weeks ago on my left side and everything has been going good I hope I’m just a really worried person on account that I try not to do much ...
Avatar n tn t make the mistake of not resting while your body is healing from the surgery. I also had emergency surger in 2005 to have a right incarcerated hernia removed on the right site. From most of the surgeries that I have had, this seemed to be healing then any other surgery that I have had. As for the possibily of scar tisue being a problem, I think that the possibility of that is slim.
Avatar f tn Some people do well after surgery with few complications (this is the norm) but it does take time for the hormones to settle and more than the physical side of surgery will be the hormone side that will be the issue imho as it may make you more tired etc. If you have insurance on your trip, yeah! I would also plan to not be super duper active as you are still healing and while you are technically over the hump, if you go full bore, you may bust open your surgical site or get a csf leak.
Avatar f tn hi, sometimes with pure medication the hernia goes back in place, even by itself sometimes, if in time it does not then the only alternative is surgery, but not surgery in the classic sense, these days its less intrusive and without side-effects, pinhole surgery is the usual tool thats favoured by gps these days, cheers.
Avatar n tn i have hepatitis c and i've developed a hernia,, how risky is it to perform surgery on my belly buttom while i have hepatitis c.
Avatar n tn Hello sir, Sorry for my English, I have been diagnosed with "early hernia" at the left side of the triangle area below my belly button, it's not a "real hernia" (I think), I mean no organs went out yet, but looks like the area is so weak that the left side is a bit higher than right side (of the triangle), I'm a male, 27, used to do about 20-30 minutes of ab workouts 3 days/week for the last 4 or 5 months, maybe I did something wrong coz I can't remember I never
Avatar m tn I saw the surgeon yesterday and he said everything looked good and that the side effects should settle down. I still get halos, shadows, diagonal lines from lights, sensitivity to bright lights, and some fatigue. My biggest disappointment, I guess, is that for the first day or two after the surgery I had distance vision in my left eye that was more perfect than ever before.
Avatar n tn There can be side-effects from most medications and most surgical procedures. This surgery is no different. If anyone is considering the Nissen, they should sit down with their doc and have all the post-surgical side-effects discussed fully.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
Avatar m tn ve has since my heart operation is that about 6 months later I had a very simple and successful lower hernia operation on the right side about midway between my belly button and genitals. I've been on One Thyroxine 125mg for several years. I currently take SIMVASTATIN 40 mg daily A baby asprine daily 2 fish old tablets. And a multi vitamin for years.
Avatar f tn Hi. I think the question of recovery from the surgery is best answered by the doctor who is treating you, since he can actually examine you and tell you what else you need to do to hasten your recovery. In general, the speed of recovery would depend on how strong the patient's body is prior to the surgery, and the presence of any other chronic illnesses (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, COPD) which may hamper full recovery.
