hernia-surgery

Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar f tn Having hiatal hernia (Nissen) surgery in a few days. My questions are : How soon would it be safe to climb stairs? When can I resume exercising? Some say that sit ups would strengthen the abdomen. Is that true? if so when should I start that? Reading the blog, most people are complaining about not being able to eat. Is this a normal? Would it be better to do a liquid diet for awhile? If so, How long should it be?
1666825 tn?1303252659 There is a manual manipulation of the hiatal hernia that may help to see if it is the hernia...at least b4 u consider surgery.....check around ur area for a chiropractor that specializes in this....but do have ur heart checked first to be sure there is nothing else going on, and that ur GI agrees.
Avatar m tn had hernia surgery in march ,hurt more now than before surgery, what the hell is going on?
Avatar m tn A second exploratory surgery was performed to see if the femoral nerve was entrapped in any way with the mesh from the hernia surgery. The nerve appeared free from the mesh. I have had every nerve block available in my spine, in my pelvic region, and in my testicle. I have been on pain medication for over two years and have tried several nerve medications, (Nuerotin and Lyrica) to no avail. I am getting to the end of my rope with pain and options for treatment.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar m tn My boyfriend had hernia surgery over 2 years ago, since the surgery he has a lot of pain during and after sex. It is to the point he doesn't want to get off, because that is when it hurts the worst. Is there something he can do to correct this problem.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar m tn In the surgery report it said they had to sacrifice the genitofemoral and ilioinguinal nerve branches due to severe adhesion to the hernia. Post-operation I have not since had "morning wood" and have experienced somewhat of a decrease in size (both flaccid and erect).
Avatar m tn If this was the nerve, then the testicle pain is not due to the nerve. It could be from hernia pull or a muscle pull. It can also be due to pudendal nerve entrapment. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?

Avatar m tn i had hernia surgery 3 1/2 years ago. In recent days I have had a lot of discomfort in the area where the surgery was performed, left side inguinal. Should I be concerned?
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.

Avatar m tn I had hernia surgery and my nerves were stitched up. What kind of damage/problem could this cause?
Avatar f tn Hi. I think the question of recovery from the surgery is best answered by the doctor who is treating you, since he can actually examine you and tell you what else you need to do to hasten your recovery. In general, the speed of recovery would depend on how strong the patient's body is prior to the surgery, and the presence of any other chronic illnesses (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, COPD) which may hamper full recovery.
Avatar n tn You see, I too have been the victim of hernia surgery. October 7, 2014 was the day I had my open inguinal hernia surgery - my life has never been the same since. Progrip mesh was implanted in me,and my inguinal nerve was also removed during the surgery. Immediately after the anesthesia wore off I knew something was seriously wrong. The pain was way more than the normal I just had surgery pain.
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
