454221 tn?1259445739 I'm almost 34 y/o. Have 4 kids. After the 4th pregnancy I now have an umbilical hernia that I would like to repair, but I might also need an abdominoplasty as well. Has anyone had an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck? Would like to know how the recovery part of it was afterwards. How much pain? Very nervous to do this. I'm not a fan of going under the knife. Want to know the risk involved? I've been told that abdominoplasty is one of the high risk surgeries for blood clots.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar n tn If what I have described IS what is happening, delay could get you a bowel resection surgery and peritonitis in addition to a hernia repair. Get going to your doctor or ER NOW.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar f tn Hi , I had a hiatus hernia for 10 years and am in recovery from a repair ( key hole surgery ) to the hernia. Prior to the surgery I suffered with heart burn, waking up coughing acid reflux vomit, pain in my stomach ( over the diaphragm), bloating to the stage where I looked like I was 7 months pregnant, weight gain, wind and gave up alcohol, spicy foods and chocolate due to acid reflux.
Avatar f tn Having hiatal hernia (Nissen) surgery in a few days. My questions are : How soon would it be safe to climb stairs? When can I resume exercising? Some say that sit ups would strengthen the abdomen. Is that true? if so when should I start that? Reading the blog, most people are complaining about not being able to eat. Is this a normal? Would it be better to do a liquid diet for awhile? If so, How long should it be?
Avatar f tn Yes, this is true. It takes that long for the internal parts to heal correctly. You could risk a hernia, or even ripped stitches if you try to do too much too quickly. Laparoscopic is also the procedure with the fastest recovery time. It's that vs. an open procedure. Best wishes.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
202436 tn?1326474333 ( I have had hernia repair surgery but not that kind so I have know clue on recovery time and what not:( I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers!!
Avatar m tn 1- Go for a good urologist and surgeon using laparoscopic surgery which provides faster wound recovery and leaves no scars, as opposed to regular surgery which takes longer to heal the wound, and leaves a 2-3 inch c-section like scar in your groin area. 2- If money is an issue, get it done at an outside surgery facility not in a hospital, its cheaper, and has a lesser chance of infection... some hernia centers/ OBGYNs/Urologists and such have their own surgery facilities.
Avatar f tn I had Bilateral Inguinal Hernia Repair in 2012. It was a very painful recovery. The doc prescribed Vicoprophen for 1 month with a refill. I only took for 3 days and tossed the rest. It was painful yes, but I remembered how painful the detox was years ago and decided the pain from the surgery wasnt as bad as pain accompanied with all the other stuff that comes with detox. (Sleepless night, bathroom issues, depression, anxiety, restless leg, nausea, etc...etc) Good luck with the surgery...
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar f tn Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.
1580703 tn?1651904887 The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
1666825 tn?1303252659 There is a manual manipulation of the hiatal hernia that may help to see if it is the hernia...at least b4 u consider surgery.....check around ur area for a chiropractor that specializes in this....but do have ur heart checked first to be sure there is nothing else going on, and that ur GI agrees.
440989 tn?1281001534 It is not getting worse. I will be seeing the Dr. this week and will let him know. This surgery and recovery is at the least challenging. Hiatal Hernia repair is not to be taken lightly by those contemplating having it.
Avatar m tn After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.
Avatar f tn I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hello, thanks so much for reaching out regarding issues post-inguinal hernia surgery. Do you experience erection and ejaculation issues post surgery? Have you noticed any improvement over the years in these issues? If you have any questions for me please feel free, I've been trying to reach out to anyone who has experienced the same issues but have struggled to do so. I also found this one article that is quite an interesting read and seems to support what we are talking about: https://www.
