Avatar m tn t stay down and would go back into the groin occasionally, but always came to the normal position. Mesh was put in to prevent that from happening) and I had a hernia repair surgery. My mother asked the doctor if it would affect fertility and they said it shouldn't. Anyways, my question is, if I were infertile, would my wife have gotten pregnant in the first place, even though it ended in a miscarriage? I've been confused a lot lately and wanted to get some opinions.
Avatar n tn Hi aliparkone, If she has undergone a laparoscopic surgery, the recovery time is faster. She can go home in 2-3 days. She might have pain at the surgery site for which pain killers can be taken.Generally a semi-solid diet is presribed from the 2nd or 3rd day during the first week. If the semi-solid diet is tolerated well, then other foods can be slowly introduced. This usually takes 2-3 weeks.Complete recovery takes 2-3 weeks.
Avatar f tn The last surgery was laprascopic. The surgery I had back in Sept was a horizonal laparotomy. I read that with the laprascopic the return to work and normal activity is 4-6 weeks. I think my doctor is taking extra precautions because of the hernia and the scar tissue. I am still really sore from the last surgery and very blotted. I just don't want to over do it, but Im already having some cabin fever and it's only been a few days. If your doctor hadn't already mentioned...

Avatar f tn My Gynecologist thinks I have a hernia. I have a CT scheduled for Friday and a follow up on Tuesday to discuss results and the plan. It's looking like, either way, I'm having another surgery. If it's not a hernia and nothing else alarming shows up, they will assume it's scar tissue and likely to a laparscopy to look for and break up scar tissue/adhesions. Anyone out there have a hernia after surgery?
Avatar f tn I was diagnoised in 1997 w/ breast cancer, bilateral masectomy/saline implants. I've had to have several implant replaced over the years along w/ surgeon dissatisfaction, so I was ref. to new surgeon & suggested tram surgery.
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
478868 tn?1209031705 Hi Gail, As a nurse in the recovery room, I see incisional hernias all the time. The hernia develops from a weakness in the wall of the muscle that was cut for your original surgery. Alot of times if it is bothersome or large enough, they will take you back to surgery, may place some mesh against the muscle to reinforce it and it can be day surgery. Most can do it laparoscopically, so less recovery time in the hospital.
Avatar f tn Hi, This is difficult to correct without surgery. In fact, delay will only gradually exacerbate the present hernia, and the gap in your abdominal muscles around the umbilicus will widen with time. Unfortunately, heavy exercises too will worsen the condition, so I would not recommend these till you are properly evaluated by a surgeon.
Avatar n tn It can be epididymitis or orchitis. In cases of hernia, a prominent bulge along with testicular pain is there and in cases of kidney or ureteric stones, pain during micturition may also be there. You can provide support to the scrotum by wearing an athletic supporter, apply ice to the scrotum, take warm baths if there are signs of inflammation, while lying down, place a rolled towel under your scrotum or try over-the-counter pain relievers, like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn My doctor suspects I have a hernia, a complication from having a large cyst, ovary and tube removed in May. I will need surgery to repair. Anyone else experience this? I'd appreciate your experiences and thoughts on recovery time, when I can return to work (I'm a preschool teacher), length of surgery, etc. Thanks!
440989 tn?1281001534 I am noticing my breathing has become more labored then pre surgery. First thing in the morning I am finding myself short of breathe immediately after standing up. Also, I have a second floor study and find myself breathing heavy after climbing the stairs. I have begun walking and doing breathing exercises which seems to improve the process. Is there anything else I can do?
Avatar m tn My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
Avatar f tn How old is the child and has the hernia increased in size.? Has the pediatrician of the child suggested surgery to you .?.
454221 tn?1259445739 Thanks so much for responding. I have 4 kids and I think I fear the most is dying after the surgery. I don't want take a risk that could possible leave my kids without a mother. Might be silly worrying about it. I'm suppose to see another plastic surgeon on May 4th and I will ask if they use the same procedures to prevent blood clots. Is it common for 34 y/o to have blood clots after this surgery?
Avatar m tn I am scheduled to get an open surgery for an umbilical hernia on the 25th. The surgeon specializes weight loss lap band surgeries. I found a highly regarded hernia specialist that I could use but may be a longer wait. Is it worth it?
Avatar f tn well from what the doctors saying they say i do have hernia and a hole in my belly button somewhere in there after the surgery also i may have a cyst that i'll be getting an ultasound to check to see if it needs removal sooo i belive god will bring me through the surgery and I will have strength to recover in jesus name amen So now i gotta get ultrasound.
Avatar m tn That is definitely a hernia. My husband had one in the exact same place as yours. It is very common in men, and usually occurs when lifting heavy objects or some other strenuous activity, although you will have quite the story to tell about ripping yourself a hernia by throwing up violently! A hernia occurs when some sort of pressure forces an internal organ out through a weak spot in your abdominal wall.
Avatar m tn After I had hernia surgery Surrey I was told not to do anything that could prevent by recovery.
Avatar m tn As there is no swelling or inflammation or redness of the scrotal sacs, so the chances of epidiymitis or orchitis are rare. In cases of hernia, a prominent bulge along with testicular pain is there and in cases of kidney or ureteric stones, pain during micturition may also be there. Lab investigations like complete blood examination, urine examination, ultrasound lower abdomen and sometimes a urethral swab will help in diagnosis. Treatment will be started thereafter.
Avatar m tn Sometimes, post inguinal hernia repair there are new sensations (such as a tight feeling upon ejaculation) probably a result of scar tissue in the inguinal canal. But most men eventually lose those sensations and in some cases it is several years before that happens. I'd give it some more time. You probably had a more invasive than usual repair and more scar tissue than usual, but I can't say. The impotence thing is unlikely related in any way to the surgery.
Avatar m tn The big cables weigh in at least 5 pounds per foot. So a lot of people around me tend to get a hernia in the same place amoungst all the other straining injuries. I have also got a straining injury myself, from not wearing the proper underwear of all things. All of them went into the pull that they hurt themselves were poorly prepared for it, including myself.
