2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
440989 tn?1281001534 It is 4 weeks post laproscopic hiatal hernia repair. I am slowly healing. I am noticing my breathing has become more labored then pre surgery. First thing in the morning I am finding myself short of breathe immediately after standing up. Also, I have a second floor study and find myself breathing heavy after climbing the stairs. I have begun walking and doing breathing exercises which seems to improve the process. Is there anything else I can do?
454221 tn?1259445739 I'm almost 34 y/o. Have 4 kids. After the 4th pregnancy I now have an umbilical hernia that I would like to repair, but I might also need an abdominoplasty as well. Has anyone had an abdominoplasty/tummy tuck? Would like to know how the recovery part of it was afterwards. How much pain? Very nervous to do this. I'm not a fan of going under the knife. Want to know the risk involved? I've been told that abdominoplasty is one of the high risk surgeries for blood clots.
620923 tn?1452915648 Hi all a member is heading into surgery tomorrow for a hernia, it doesn't matter what type of surgery she is having we should all keep her in our thoughts and prayers.
Avatar f tn Hi , I had a hiatus hernia for 10 years and am in recovery from a repair ( key hole surgery ) to the hernia. Prior to the surgery I suffered with heart burn, waking up coughing acid reflux vomit, pain in my stomach ( over the diaphragm), bloating to the stage where I looked like I was 7 months pregnant, weight gain, wind and gave up alcohol, spicy foods and chocolate due to acid reflux.
Avatar m tn ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
Avatar n tn What do they do in an open nissen fundoplication, recovery time, food to eat after, i know a long term healing is expected anywhere from 8-12 weeks. I am scared to say the least. Especially with the second repair, paraesophagael Hernia with Mesh. Has anyone been through this before, what should I expect when I wake up after surgery, etc. Thanks so much. I am having all of this done rather soon.
Avatar f tn It is just healing, and sometimes healing can cause those pains. If you are both worried, than ask your surgeon, he should be able to put your mind at ease.
Avatar n tn Hi My sister has just had surgery for a hiatus hernia (360 degree wrap) but is very distressed as no-one (even the hospital) seems to be able to tell her about an aftercare. i.e Diet, what she should be eating after however many days and what to expect etc. When will she be able to do normal things etc.. Can anyone help please,.....
Avatar n tn My tram was performed May 07. I was out of the hospital in 4 days, but then again, my surgery was textbook pretty. I kissed my plastic surgeon goodbye this past Nov/Dec. If all goes well, 6-8 weeks from surgery to be able to lift things heavier than 5 pounds. If they don't do the nipple during surgery, after the 8 weeks, it'll be 4-6 weeks for nipple recovery enough to tattoo the areola, the 4 more weeks for that heal. That's the only "pain" after the intial healing.
Avatar n tn This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. However, a hernia can recur up to several years after repair. I hope this helps. Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation on August 19th, I had decompression surgery on sept the 4th. Recovery is going well. I have had a few headaches since the surgery and omg yesterday's was very bad! Since surgery, the back of my head is numb from ear to ear, and from the bottom to the top of my head!?!? The numbness on the back of my head feels like it spreads to the top of my head one day and then is just on the back of my head the next.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
Avatar f tn Hey ladies, and to anyone reading this! I'd like to ask a question that's been worrying me, and at the very end, I've included an update on my recovery from an ovarian cyst removal via laparotomy, re-opening the sutures due to a complication, and my new best pal, the KCI Wound Vac! Has anyone gone through an incisional hernia from a laparotomy? If a small one forms, does it progress fairly rapidly to a full-blown one with a noticeable bulge produced?
Avatar f tn Good news is that I'm recovering very well/quickly from my laparoscopy 11 days ago. In fact I feel soooo much better with my cysts gone (I can bend again! breathe again! no more back pain!) that I'm anxious to get back into working out again (which I haven't been able to do much of for over a year due to pain). My (very laid back) doctor gave me the all clear to resume all normal activities. But I'm still concerned about doing too much too soon.
Avatar f tn Incisional pain subsides gradually over the first month post-surgery. Many patients report a sensation of numbness on the left side of their chest which results from the dissection of the internal mammary artery. Some patients can barely wear a shirt for a few weeks following their surgery due to a hyperesthesia over their sternal skin. Fortunately, all these malaises subside within 1 or 2 months post surgery.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
Avatar f tn Hello - I have a fatty tissue hernia that is moderately painful creating a little lump above my belly button. The doctor has told me this will eventually resolve itself and I don't need surgery as long as I'm careful with my activity and keep a heat pad on my hernia to help the tissue dissolve faster. Is there anything else I can do to help that fat dissolve or my muscles heal faster and stronger?
202436 tn?1326474333 ( I have had hernia repair surgery but not that kind so I have know clue on recovery time and what not:( I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers!!
1257808 tn?1322762215 I had an inguinal hernia. Got out of surgery around 14 days ago. I had an open mesh repair. I have documented my surgery and recovery here: www.myhernia.co.
Avatar f tn The healing process after an inguinal hernia repair takes 8 to 12 weeks. to complete Because the surgery involves ligaments and is often a somewhat bloody procedure, it takes a lot of time (a week or 2) for the swelling to go down. Meantime, for at least 8 weeks you are not to lift anything heavier than a cup of coffee, and do not allow yourself to get constipated (straining is bad).
Avatar f tn No that is not a valid explantion and a second even third opinion is warranted. The healing from an uncomplicated cataract surgery is complete in about 6-8 weeks at most. (complicated cases can take much longer).
