Avatar f tn Hi. I think the question of recovery from the surgery is best answered by the doctor who is treating you, since he can actually examine you and tell you what else you need to do to hasten your recovery. In general, the speed of recovery would depend on how strong the patient's body is prior to the surgery, and the presence of any other chronic illnesses (e.g. heart disease, diabetes, COPD) which may hamper full recovery.
Avatar m tn at the site, especially when laying on my back or swimming, which is how I discovered the hernia in the first place. However, there is no visible lump or bulge that I can see this time, save for some toughness that my doctor identified as scar tissue. My question is: can scar tissue mimic the sensations of a hernia? The fact that the hernia site feels so much like it did before my surgery concerns me.
Avatar f tn Yes, I think a hernia can go into the scrotum. Hernia pain can also come and go. https://www.urologyhealth.
Avatar m tn Within an hour after my auto accident I was diagnosed by CT that I had a hernia in my upper stomach where my surgery (cabg) was 5 months prior. No pain or bulge prior to accident. Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar m tn Treatment involves reducing weight, avoiding constipation, avoiding strenuous work and lifting weight. Hernia is repaired by surgery. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn A male lower abdominal hernia? I am no doctor, paramedic and I am no longer a combat lifesaver. I work around a lot of steel. At times I have to hand pull 400 foot lengths of cable threw that steel. The big cables weigh in at least 5 pounds per foot. So a lot of people around me tend to get a hernia in the same place amoungst all the other straining injuries. I have also got a straining injury myself, from not wearing the proper underwear of all things.
625302 tn?1255485995 Now I face another surgery with this hernia. is this normal or common? What obligations or responsibility should my surgeon have? This discussion is related to Had hernia repair after tummy tuck and doesn't look right..
Avatar f tn ) The incision has healed well however right after surgery I had this bulge over the incision when I would stand. It has gotten a bit smaller but the more I stand it gets bigger and the pain feel like what a bruise feels like. The bulge goes away when I lay down. It is uncomfortable when I bend my knees up or try to bend over, other than that I feel really well. A little sore still.
Avatar m tn The aim of the surgery is wound strengthening, so that hernia does not occur again. If the gap is large, then a mesh may be used. Regards.
Avatar m tn I am 28 years old with what is likely a sports hernia. There is no noticeable bulge or hernia, and the pain has become unbearable and will confine me to a bed for a week or two at a time. The pain originally manifested in my testicles, but recently I feel pressure in my groin area, resulting in a pinched feeling in my femoral nerves. I've consulted both Dr. Krischkan in Ohio and Dr. Petersen in Nevada, and both do a modified Shouldice (i.e., 2 layers vs. the traditional 4). Dr.
Avatar f tn Surgical repair is generally avoided unless there is severe pain suggesting the intestines or tissue may be pinched or twisted along with a persistent bulge from the hernia. Best of luck to you and your relative!
Avatar m tn Caused from the thinning of the intestinal lining wall from previous laproscopic surgery. They found it when I complained about a bulge I had they did the ultrasound found it. I'm not sure though my pushed inward not back. So not really sure. I hope this helps some.
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
Avatar m tn Bottom line I went into get gallbladder removed now I need OPEN Hernia surgery to repair inguinal hernia. (My internist agrees the gas probably pushed the hernia out. Painful bulge, burns sometimes, but seems to go back in when I sleep and pops out next day.) Can gas cause this and if my surgeon read prior scans (he didnt) what could have been done differently. I am sure I am not the first patient to have suffered from gas-induced hernia.
Avatar m tn Six days ago I noticed a bulge in my right groin area.Since then the bulge has gotten bigger. When I bare down or cough the bulge gets bigger and feels hard.I have an aching feeling in my right pelvis and the inside upper right thigh feels sore.About a month ago I had MRSA on my left scrotum and was given antibiotics and antibiotic ointment. The MRSA on my scrotum has cleared up.Could I have an inguinal hernia or swollen lymph node from the MRSA infection?
Avatar f tn the reason I say usually is because I just had a Lipoma that was misdiagnosed as a hernia. It showed up as a bulge right beside my navel. An ultrasound failed to indicate what it was, so a CT scan was recommended. Even that was "hazy" since the bulge didn't correlate with either a hernia or a Lipoma; it only indicated that the bulge was not a solid mass so most likely not cancer.
415684 tn?1257329318 My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. She is now 4 months post op but still feels lot of stretch internally at the mesh site. Other than that she has had no problems. She was even able to take IP chemo with this mesh inside.
804014 tn?1237952414 Well I cant say for sure, you might want to check with your OB. I had a hernia with my last pregnancy. It was a noticable bulge around my belly button that never really went away. I could push it in but it always popped back out. Another thing I thought of when I read this is your muscles seperating which makes a bulge when your laying down and kinda crunch upwards like your going to do a sit up. I have that also from having so many babies, but I believe you can get it with your first also.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have a hernia, probably not an inguinal hernia, they tend to bulge down into the scrotum. There is another hernia near there, can't remember the name. I have had 6 children with inguinal hernias. Only one of them had pain before we had them repaired...he was 13 and it was bulging into his scrotum. You do not want to wait until you have pain. I personally think your doctor gave you bad advice. A hernia can become a big deal sometimes.
Avatar n tn And it all goes away when you lie down? Is the bulge in your belly button? That is the only midline bulge that I can think of that you would have had since birth other than some really rare situations with thin abdominal muscles that bulge (not hernias). Maybe you just have a very large, full colon that is protruding when you stand and is not obvious when you lie down. But, all of this is surmising. You need to see a surgeon.
Avatar f tn Also, the fibrosis after surgery can cause the discomfort. But if there is a swelling or a bulge, you need to consult your doctor to rule out an infection or a recurrence or hernia. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn It is possible it will go down or be less noticeable after you deliver, yet will always be there. If it gets worse surgery will be the treatment. I scheduled my hernia surgery just this morning for the end of NOV. YIPPY LOL Hope This Helps.
Avatar n tn Hello - I recently had an open inguinal hernia repair on 11/19. They did not use mesh because my tissue was so healthy, so it was repaired strictly with sutures. I'm going on my third week and feeling almost back to normal: I run a dog sitting/training business and am back to regularly walking and working with dogs (the ones that don't jump :). Yesterday I was walking two dogs down a hallway and they pulled after a cat.
Avatar n tn Now, after the first surgery, it did not take long for the hernia to grow fast so the resolution was to take the hernia out, than the bulge grew back, she went back to the dr who than said it was her gallbladder and a hematoma, now the bulge is back just like the last time and growing, is this due to a blood defiency disease or is this fatal? I am really worried about her even though her dr knows about it and is nonchalant about it.
1322711 tn?1278415855 I had gone to my doctor who sent me to ER thinking it was a hematoma from the surgery, tumor, or hernia. I had a CT scan done in ER and it showed up clean. Next step was my OBGYN who did an ultrasound. That came back clean. I was then sent to a GI doctor who did a colonoscopy and that also came back clean. I then went to a laparoscopy specialist who did not find anything either. I finally went to a general surgeon who also found nothing.
