hernia surgery patch

i have had chronic pain in my lower right abdomen for almost 8 years. what started out as a simple inguinal hernia repair has been a nightmare. the doc put the mesh patch in for "good measure". the adhesions are massive. from many doctors i have been diagnosed as having probably 3 nerve paths trapped in the adhesions. The inguinal, hypogastric and genital femerol nerves are all involved. After years and years of procedures I have not had any pain relief that lasted more than a day.

Is it possible that this is shingles? My doctor says I have a hernia, but he only asked me some questions and poked at me a little. He ignored the rash. My operation for the hernia is scheduled for next week, but I don't want to get cut open if it's not really a hernia.

hi i am a 37 year old male. I have had a hiatal hernia for 17 years. I have also been dealing with panic attacks ever since. I can't smoke (which is good), I cant drink alcohol. I can't eat big meals. I can't eat much chocolate, coffee, caffeinated sodas, too much of anything that is a stimulant (pain meds, energy drinks, etc.). Lately, i had been smoking, it literally caused me a panic attack almost every time i finished one.

It started when I broke my heal and because I was morbidly obese as well my doctor kept me on the and sence then, a gastric bypass, two separate hernia operation, one exporitory surgery of my stomach bypass andt then, to top it off, one and a half years ago I had major back surgery. Well, as one could imagine over the years my doses have turned from viodic, to oxycodone to fentanyl patches and oxycodone.

I had many ultrasounds originally showing hernia, then failed hernia operation and fatty hernia, then I had repeat surgery to fix it all (more mesh). I had a very large stomach afterward that had to slowly drain...i forget the name...but all went well. I had a procedure that tightened up my whole stomach area too--i mini tummy tuck and also navel re-formation, the surgeon tried to fix me up as best he could with laparoscope the second time.

My friend was scheduled for hernia surgery today, but it was canceled because he used methamphetamine two days ago. What are the risks of interaction between methamphetamine and anesthesia and how long should he abstain before it's safe to have surgery?

Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.

I too looked into the Linx surgery and enquired but was told my hiatus hernia was too large and my grade 4 reflux was too severe. So back to the drawing board!

My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.

Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.

s Syndrome and Hypothydoiditis. I also have a hiatal hernia, sludge in my gallbladder and an ovarian cyst. I am having surgery on the 25th, at which time they will repair the hiatal hernia, remove my gallbladder and remove both ovaries. I have EDS and had surgery for chiari...u r right, in that EDSers need to have their pericardium used for a patch over the cadaver and bovine and synthetic ones...this helps limit rejection, Many times EDSers do have an issue with instability and once they have the decompression it can make this issue worse...I do have it, but have worked with neck exercises and have been able to put off the fusion surgery....

The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!

Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?

Any every have a hernia while pregnant? I was complaining the baby's head was so low it was hurting - saw my dr today & it turns out it's a hernia! Grrr- at least baby sounds great (got to hear her hiccups on doplar!). Guess I'll goggle hernias until my surgery consult in 2 weeks.

Hi Jenny, I have a hiatal hernia, but do not require surgery...I have known about my hernia since I was in my teens. I had a few flares that required meds...but, with proper diet and lifestyle I am able to keep it under control without meds. I just got my self off meds after being on them 2 yrs....I had flares from 3 diff surgeries....the meds they use to put u under alone can upset a balanced system.

I have already planned the surgery to fix the hernia for next week . 2 days ago I had an ultrasound which showed that I have gallbladder sludge and maybe some very small stones . I never had any pains in the stomach and the only thing that might be a symptoms is some digestive problems . I need gallbladder surgery in the near future. I have abdominal meshing and want to know if they can do laproscopic surgery on me or not. ANYONE have my issue?

I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!

Does this mean surgery failed? is hernia back (now they are referring to this as a paraesophageal hernia) The doctors never told us herina might be back so I am wondering when I see x-ray report and it shos Pre-demonstartion of hernia, does that mean there is a new issue or they are seeing repaired hernia? is it typical that Nissen wrap would slip so soon after surgery?
