If she has undergone a laparoscopic surgery, the recovery time is faster.She can go home in 2-3 days.She might have pain at the surgery site for which pain killers can be taken.Generally a semi-solid diet is presribed from the 2nd or 3rd day during the first week. If the semi-solid diet is tolerated well, then other foods can be slowly introduced. This usually takes 2-3 weeks.Complete recovery takes 2-3 weeks.
This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon.
I have 2 questions?
First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July.

I am sorry to hear you have a hernia but at least you finally have answers to the pain you've been experiencing. I have not had a hernia (or don't think that is the cause of my occasional twinges of pain/discomfort) so cannot answer any questions about surgery. Hope all goes well!
My question is what will the recovery be like. I looked up the recovery for a gallbladder surgery and recovery for hiatal hernia repair and I think I am in for a lot of pain and weight loss. the weight loss I can take. But the pain I am not looking forward to. I will be home during the day by myself. Would I be able to take care of myself and what will the recovery be like. Any help appreciated. Thanks.
I had surgery recently where I had a cyst removed through laboscrophy of my ovary on the left side. but recently I've been having sharp pains in my belly button usually when i'm hungary but sometimes when I'm not sometimes it gets sooooo bad I have to take pain killers cause i can barely move.
ve had a hydrocele surgery at the age of six, left side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 10, and a right side inguinal hernia surgery at the age of 24. My right testicle have been attached closer to my body since my hydrocele surgery and I can clearly remember how uncomfortable it felt to have such an abnormal position of your testicle. After 20 years, I still feel some discomforting pains (on my right testicle) when exercising.
(back pain, testicle pain, groin pain, what seems like butt muscle pain especially when you sit for a while, bend over, or warm up before the game, all associated with the same side of the body usually), let me guess, when you play soccer/football you are right footed : ) ? my advise see a hernia specialist as soon as possible because it could get serious....
This can be repaired through surgery. Recovery time varies depending on the size of the hernia, the technique used, age and presence of underlying medical condition. A male lower abdominal hernia? I am no doctor, paramedic and I am no longer a combat lifesaver. I work around a lot of steel. At times I have to hand pull 400 foot lengths of cable threw that steel. The big cables weigh in at least 5 pounds per foot. So a lot of people around me tend to get a hernia in the same place amoungst all the other straining injuries. I have also got a straining injury myself, from not wearing the proper underwear of all things.
Hi , I had a hiatus hernia ( sliding) and am in recovery (4th month) after key hole surgery for repair to the hernia. I had the hiatus hernia for the 10 years and suffered all of your mentioned symptoms. It got to the point where I was getting hard stomach pains ( felt like I was punched in the stomach) and felt like I wanted to vomit. I took over my life and I was afraid of eating so many foods.
In September of 2010 I had laproscopic surgery to remove my gallbladder. I had severe Right upper quadrant pain which radiated to my side and back. My recovery period of 6 weeks wasn't bad, I still had pain but thought it was from surgery as the doc said I had a lot of adhesions. At the end of two hours in surgery the doc had to call in a second surgeon, it took them four and 1/2 hours to complete the surgery. I woke up crying in pain and it continues.
( they are going to do it again in two weeks. I called them they said he didn't cry there at all just barked, which he does bc he has anxiety away from me. :( but now all he is doing is running in circles trying to get at the incission and crying.
Also, my lower esophagus pressure is very low, its a 5 and needs to be at least an 8 to keep food down so I am going to have the hiatal hernia removed and my esophagus tightened. What should I expect after the surgery as far as pain and the recovery time? Is it possible that the wrap will help my condition the first time?
I'm still recovering from emergency abdominal surgery. I'm so thankful I don't feel any of the pain I felt previously. What I do feel is my little peanut. He is so active. I really believe that hernia surgery helped him to have more room. I'm so thankful for every little kick even if it is at 5 am. Well I'm off work for two weeks so he can kick all he wants. I love him so much.
Lifting that first week after surgery is usually really restricted to help aid recovery and impede complications. While my gut says 10 pounds or under should be okay for a brief minute lifting of a laptop . . . I'm not an expert. I do think so anyway. If you continue to have pain, then call your doctor without delay. And follow your physician's instructions from now on to a T.
