Common Questions and Answers about Hernia surgery mayo clinic

hernia-surgery

Avatar f tn ve done a ton of research on my issues plus based on my doctors opinions, the severity of the pain and my previous history it is not believed that the pain is being caused by the ulcer and/or the hernia. I hope that the Mayo clinic will be able to help finally put an end to all of this, or at the very least be able to give me a definate diagnosis. thanks again for your help and I'll let you know if I find out whats up.
Avatar f tn Can you let us know which surgeon you used? Which hospital? There are so many warnings with surgeries, and they all seem to boil down to using a VERY experienced surgeon in a comprehensive center. Thanks.
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
627388 tn?1222198212 Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.
Avatar f tn I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!
582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.
1264955 tn?1381782221 Has anybody here been to the neurology clinic at the Mayo or in their inpatient pain treatment program?
792410 tn?1270315500 After being told by three different surgeons at three of the finest cancer centers in the world that I was not a candidate for surgery, and would be on chemo for the rest of my life, a surgeon at The Mayo Clinic said without hesitation that he thought I was a candidate for surgery and so I'm having surgery there on November 16th. The other surgeons said I was inoperable! I needed to learn to live with it because it was there to stay.
17213106 tn?1456525991 I used to wake up at 2am with a tight stomach and back pain. Felt like trapped air. Went to Mayo Clinic got an upper endoscopy and Got diagnosed with SIBO. Gave me anti-biotic to get stop the bacterial overgrowth. Still have burping after meals and bloating after meals and am checking for other things wrong, but it is greatly reduced got treated for SIBO. Make sure they actually check for SIBO MN Gastro did not check for this and missed it the first time.
Avatar f tn d do EVERYTHING possible before that to avoid it. The Mayo clinic has a system for pain like this. I do actually know someone that had similar symptoms. He had a nerve issue that they just could not find post hernia surgery. Almost identical symptoms. The Mayo Clinic embedded a pulsing device elsewhere. There is science and theory behind it. It distracts from the testicular issue and they begin ignoring the pulsing but their brain is aware and focus is taken away from pain.
Avatar n tn The first was done by a general surgeon yet the other two were done by a specialists. Recently I was sent to the Mayo Clinic due to symptoms and that is when we found out that the vagal nerve was severed during my 2006 nissen and now I have gastroparesis and all its glory. During my last nissen in 2006 my stomach was cut twice, lung was collapsed and it took over 7 hours laproscopically. I also have tried the domperidone from New Zealand with no luck so I discontinued.
Avatar f tn Mayo Clinic: "Because the maze procedure requires open heart surgery, it is usually reserved for patients whose atrial fibrillation has not responded well to medication, whose symptoms interfere with their quality of life, and those at high risk for blood clots or stroke".
Avatar m tn Truthfully, I've heard one of the best MS Clinics in the US is the Mellen Center at Cleveland Clinic. You might try checking out http://www.mscare.org They list all the clinics available, etc. My neuro said the clinic at Cincinatti isn't that great but thinks Cleveland Clinic is really good. I've never heard of the Mayo Clinic being highly rated for MS, but more for heart desease.
Avatar f tn From my reading in the website of the Mayo Clinic, everybody may suffer occasionally of reflux and that may not be sufficient to damage an esophagus. The damage happens after repetitive aggressions. So you can relax for once. You seem to be doing fine watching your diet, but review the suggestions from the websites of well establish medical centers (ie. Mayo Clinic and many others) that provide info via web. As far as recommendations, both caffeine and carbonation should be avoided.
655875 tn?1295695107 t hear back from them right away - I requested an appointment with the Mayo Clinic and it was almost a year before I heard back from them! If your current docs office does the request/referral, though, it should go a lot faster.
Avatar n tn I consulted two medical dictionaries for a definition of "rectal seal." Medical names come from Latin words, and are spelled differently in texts. There is a "recto" meaning relationship to the rectum. Another prefix for rectum is "procto", but no rectal seal. There is a "rectocele." Here is the medical definition for rectocele: a hernial(hernia) protrusion of part of the rectum into the vagina. Called also, "proctocele.
Avatar f tn I decided that I should travel to the United States and hopefully get a diagnosis. I know that Mayo clinic and Cleveland clinic have a good dysautonomia clinics but I don't know which one should I choose so I would appreciate any suggestions !!! Also I know healthcare in the US is so expensive and since I don't have insurance I wonder how much such a visit to one of those hospitals will roughly cost ?I know it's hard to tell but I'm asking for a roughly cost. Thanks.
1374347 tn?1279163392 She will still need open-heart surgery and possible surgery to correct the hernia. Reilly is also on two ant-acids that seems to be helping. She's put on about two pounds since the last time we spoke. She's also going to be attending physical therapy bc she shows poor muscle stability and strenght...never crawled...doesnt even know how. They're still searching for more issues because they don't think its over.
5959600 tn?1377396574 My boyfriend had double hernia surgery in the beginning of February, it's going on September and just recently he's had swelling of the veins that go into his sac, he said its very painful and it's followed by lower abdominal pain. Could this be serious and is there a certain type of doctor he should see rather than a regular check up doctor at a clinic?
Avatar f tn They were surprised to find a small bone tumor which is very rare and certainly not their specialty. Their in house pathology lab classified it as benign but sent it to Mayo Clinic for a second opinion. My doctor has been horrible with communication. It’s been two weeks and I’ve heard nothing. Now I’ve just learned my doctor is on vacation so the soonest I would hear anything is the end of next week.
