hernia-surgery

Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar n tn I am 31 male and have an umbilical hernia. 1.5 cm in size from my ct-scan, I don't have insurance anymore. Just lost my job after they found out i was going to take time off for a surgery. What's the best way to get help for surgery and what are the best exercises to do without straining it???
Avatar m tn I am a 24 year old male who had inguinal hernia repair on left side 3 years ago. Weeks after surgery I as well returned to my surgeon complaining about my right testicle not hanging as low or where it use to hang. He said don't worry about it and to workout, run, do whatever I want at 100%. Well off and on over the past years I get pain in my right testicle still. Any pressure over my surgery repair, and I can feel pain in my right testicle.
Avatar f tn My question is since my dog was neutered what could have caused him to get the hernia? I thought neutering male dogs kept them from getting this type of hernia.
Avatar f tn I’m a 35 year old male. 22 years ago I had surgery to remove my left testicle. I am currently experiencing pain in my scrotum on the left side. There is a small bulge that is tender to touch. It becomes more noticeable and more tender when erect. Pain radiates up into my groin area. Was very painful at the beginning of the week and has gotten better, but still some pain there. Any idea what this could be?
Avatar m tn A male lower abdominal hernia? I am no doctor, paramedic and I am no longer a combat lifesaver. I work around a lot of steel. At times I have to hand pull 400 foot lengths of cable threw that steel. The big cables weigh in at least 5 pounds per foot. So a lot of people around me tend to get a hernia in the same place amoungst all the other straining injuries. I have also got a straining injury myself, from not wearing the proper underwear of all things.
Avatar f tn (22 y.o male, 180lb) 2 1/2 weeks post op of my umbilical hernia surgery (small hernia, open repair, no sutures needed) I went to a friendly get together and drink about 7-8 beers throughout the night. I was simply standing and talking casually while drinking. Is there any possibility whatsoever that that amount of beer could stretch my stomach enough to the point of actually tearing the sutures?
Avatar m tn I am 65 year old male. I had hernia surgery yesterday. When I pee the urinary stream is very weak. Is this common?
Avatar f tn He is opposed to even twilight sedation, so we are looking for a surgeon in Rhode Island or Massachusetts who will be willing to do open surgery on his hernia, using mesh and spinal anesthetic to numb him below the waist. He wants to be awake for the procedure. Please let me know if you know of a surgeon like this in our area, who will be willing to meet his preferences. Thank you.
Avatar f tn That sounds like the pressure of lifting has triggered an inguinal hernia. The hernia can actually go into your scrotum.
4706518 tn?1358198536 I`m a 63 yr. old male, 150 lbs.decent shape. I had open surgery with mesh 2 1/2 yrs. ago, had pain everyday, surgeon says that the mesh must be removed . Avatar n tn 52 yr old male asks..A few years ago I had an umbilical hernia repaired. As far as I can remember she did not use a mesh, just super glue. Over the years it has produced skin tag type flaps that would get painful and itchy. Recently it really flared and a few of these "tags" erupted and now the area around the belly button is like a hard ring and tender. There is also a pinkish red ring around the belly button as well. No discharges just tender and uncomfortable.
Avatar n tn What if you have had hernia surgery already? Can you do situps then? I had hernia surgery Jan 23 2009 and now I have mesh around my whole abdomen.
Avatar n tn The surgery is a minor surgery and will help the hernia to not get worse. This type of surgery is common and is not a big deal. However, surgery in general can cause scarring and has the potential to cause other problems. So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects.
Avatar m tn I am a 58 year old male. Two CAT scans show a diaphragmatic hernia on the left side. My stomach is basically under my left breastbone. I have some breathing issues but thought most of those were due to being about 30 pounds overweight. Other than that I had no idea this problem existed. The surgeon said surgery will be through the back, cutting the muscle and putting in a material to hold everything in place. He has only performed 4 or 5 of these surgeries in his 15 year career.
5447645 tn?1368180755 Were you able to discuss the surgical procedure for the hernia and non-functional testes? It is important that you manage the hernia also to prevent any complications in the future. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I'm a 47 year old male, a runner, lean fit body. I had hernia surgery a year ago, and since then my testicle on the side of the surgery hangs lower than before. The surgeon just dismissed my concerns saying that it would "take care of itself." Before the surgery my testicles hung evenly, the same height. I'm in great shape, and I have always felt good about my body. I have even modeled for figure drawing classes. But, since the surgery my right testicle is noticeably lower.
Avatar n tn If by chance at the back of your mind you ever feel surgery may be necessary, then leaving a good gap between his neuter surgery and possible hernia surgery should be fine for him.
Avatar m tn Also, you may be advised to wear a scrotal support for a time after surgery. Ice packs applied to the scrotal area during the first 24 hours after surgery may help reduce swelling. It is pretty common to develop hydocele after an operation, like for a hernia. hope all goes well. good luck.
Avatar m tn Ok thanks! I have not had sex in 7 months and it was giving oral to a male, I had anal sex 16 months ago, I believe is was protected, I asked the guy to use a condom but can not confirm he did. Could a swollen lymph node apear now? I just have a single bump, its tender and it kind of behind my testicles, on my leg closer to my but cheek.
Avatar m tn The tightness is not painful like I could have a heart attack but more irritating. I had surgery for a hiatal hernia and had laparoscopic fundoplication done and I also have scoliosis. I've been to a chiropractor for my tightness to see if that would help but it just came right back. Wonder if this could be related to my scoliosis.
Avatar m tn He diagnosed it as a Hydrocele (no hernia now or previous) and suggested surgery. He said that there is a 30% chance of reoccurance with the surgery. I told him I wanted to think about it. I did a lot of research and could not find a 30% chance of recurrance anywhere. The most I found on one site was 10% but most were 1%. I also found that in many cases the doctors seal off the passage between the abdomin and scrotum so fluid cannot reenter in the future.
Avatar m tn I am a otherwise physicaly healthy 43 yr. old male. Had surgery 2 yrs. ago for torn librum in hip. Surgery went well I was told, had presribed therapy and after 4 months had a feeling of a pop in area. Was told therapy should be readjusted to concentrate on strengthening core muscles. No improvement of pain in area. Doctor said to see hernia specialist, answer no hernia. To make a long story short, after many different doctor and therapyst visits and MRI's.
