Avatar f tn I feel its some kind of hernia, cause i can feel movement and gas high in my chest. I have had this for 10 years and now for the past 6 months i have developed a heart issue. Palpitations and something called pvc,s . I am concerned that a part of intestine is lying near my heart and causing this problem. Is this even possible? I know my body very well, and i have done alot of research on this problem and i really think thats whats going on. Please help.
Avatar n tn Hi Jenny, I have a hiatal hernia, but do not require surgery...I have known about my hernia since I was in my teens. I had a few flares that required meds...but, with proper diet and lifestyle I am able to keep it under control without meds. I just got my self off meds after being on them 2 yrs....I had flares from 3 diff surgeries....the meds they use to put u under alone can upset a balanced system.
Avatar f tn Yes, this is true. It takes that long for the internal parts to heal correctly. You could risk a hernia, or even ripped stitches if you try to do too much too quickly. Laparoscopic is also the procedure with the fastest recovery time. It's that vs. an open procedure. Best wishes.
504000 tn?1242500793 has anyone been through this? and if so did they have to do surgery or did the baby grow out of it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn You should have had a upper GI Barium Swallow to see if there is a hiatal hernia. However, I had this and it showed not hernia. When I had surgery for the funoplication wrap for my valve they discovered a hiatal hernia so bad that my valve and stomach were in my upper chest cavity. With a hiatal hernia it can cause breathing problems so bad that I got panic attacks with them. Also, it might be your asphogus is raw.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with mild esophagitis caused by GERD. I was put on Aciphex. I was also diagnosed with hiatal hernia during endoscopy. I already knew I had one because an upper GI series 6 years ago detected it. Even so, the doctor who performed the endoscopy, sent me to get another more current upper GI series. The results came back “no obvious hiatal hernia”, even though the endoscopy showed one and the upper GI series from 6 years ago did too.
Avatar m tn Selma is right about Chiropractor that can improve the sliding Hernia! If you can get Hernia fixed you should be able to do great without medication. But ultimately discuss your condition with your GI. Let us know how you are doing.
1199621 tn?1265359349 I'm sorry, I'm not a doctor, so I can't answer your question. I would doubt that they can just "pop" the hernia back into place, but I know of people who have had surgery to repair hernias. You will need to talk to your doctor about that. Regarding exercises that are safe for it -- I really can't answer that either because I don't know how much pressure it can take.
329165 tn?1515471990 Hi there, I had a consult with a Surgeon (telephonically) after my GI referred me. Long story and long history with uncontrolled GERD and now Barrets and upcoming surgery (Nissen Fund.) I had a 24hr PH study/Impedance study done in Oct. 2010 and I got the results from the Doc who did it and guess what? the Surgeon can not use it as the study was done WHILE I WAS ON PPI medication!
1666825 tn?1303252659 There is a manual manipulation of the hiatal hernia that may help to see if it is the hernia...at least b4 u consider surgery.....check around ur area for a chiropractor that specializes in this....but do have ur heart checked first to be sure there is nothing else going on, and that ur GI agrees.
Avatar m tn I'm a 47 year old male, a runner, lean fit body. I had hernia surgery a year ago, and since then my testicle on the side of the surgery hangs lower than before. The surgeon just dismissed my concerns saying that it would "take care of itself." Before the surgery my testicles hung evenly, the same height. I'm in great shape, and I have always felt good about my body. I have even modeled for figure drawing classes. But, since the surgery my right testicle is noticeably lower.
2001540 tn?1327492302 The surgery was to repair peroneal tendon subluxation in the R ankle, which is still swollen, tingling and painful from the June, 2011 surgery. I could have possibly also more recently pulled something in my groin, but said to have no hernia. I saw a neurologist yesterday and he put me on pain mgmt. meds, so at least some of the pain is gone.
Avatar n tn Please check the ASAP site for more info and dr info and the chiari institute for info as well. I do not know what area u r in, so I don't know if any of the drs listed will be near u.
Avatar m tn He diagnosed it as a Hydrocele (no hernia now or previous) and suggested surgery. He said that there is a 30% chance of reoccurance with the surgery. I told him I wanted to think about it. I did a lot of research and could not find a 30% chance of recurrance anywhere. The most I found on one site was 10% but most were 1%. I also found that in many cases the doctors seal off the passage between the abdomin and scrotum so fluid cannot reenter in the future.
Avatar n tn t seem to get more noticeable when I cough or strain although I do notice it more when I stand. Does this sound like a hernia or should I be concerned with something more serious? Does pain from a hernia come and go? I am female, 43 years .Could stand to lose a few pounds and have had 4 children.
Avatar m tn Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn Had Ist EGD. with presenting 3cm. hiatal hernia. Have not spoke with doctor yet, but have decided for 2nd EGD and monometry. Both myself and Dr. will have all info. Nurse said I was a good candidate for repair. This gerd has gone on 25 years, I am wore out with it. Prillosec keeps mostly in check, but my eating and drinking are increasingly more restrictive and the the PPI not holding well. Esophagus, stomach and biopsy normal, and my health excellent at 58. On no meds except PPI.
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
Avatar n tn my mother has had a hernia and hysterectomy and feels sick in her stomach since she had theoperation. She vomits up all she eats and is afraid to eat as a result.
Avatar f tn A hiatal hernia occurs when part of your stomach bulges upward out of your belly and into your chest cavity. There are three main types of hiatal hernia: sliding, paraesophageal, and mixed. A sliding hiatal hernia is the most common type and is generally not a serious condition. U want to elevate the head of the bed...not just ur pillows....usually 4 to 6 inches....this will help with reflux.....plus not eating 3 to 4 hrs prior to lying down...
1580703 tn?1651904887 The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? I think it's from the gym or coughing from this tracheotomy I'm getting this crippling nausea sometimes and sometimes protonix helps. is it from the hernia or diabetes or GERD? thanks!
Avatar m tn Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?
Avatar m tn The 2nd Neuro made a reference from the drop of the hernia to the level of the mouth. We are more inclined to perform the decompression surgery as there's a chance of brain haeomorrage from drilling the skull. If it is hydrocephalus that required a shunt, we'll get it done later as seems shunt has a lot of complication. BTW, we're seeking a 3rd opinion on Tuesday before confirming the posterior fossa decompression operation scheduled for 17/09/12.
