Avatar n tn If there are complications, such as the presence of an inguinal hernia, an incision is made in the groin area. This approach allows the doctor to repair the hernia or other complicating factors at the same time as correcting the hydrocele. Some surgeons use a minimally invasive laparoscopic approach to repair a hydrocele.
Avatar m tn I have had 7 abdominal surgeries. Gastric bypass 2012, lap chole 2013, exploratory lap 2014, panniculectomy 2015, ventral hernia repair 2015, mesh removal from hernia repair with exp lap 2016, and recently open epigastric incisional hernia repair 2/21/2017. I am one month post op from recent surgery. Immediately upon opening my eyes from surgery I knew something was different. I had extreme pain, more pain then I've had with any surgery I've had.
Avatar n tn I had an open repair of inguinal hernia. Incision is approximately 4 inches long. How long will I have pain and tenderness with this? I have no fever, and have already had followup with the surgeon with no return scheduled.
Avatar n tn I had open heart surgery 8 months ago - 3 bypass. Where my incision is on my chest, I have like a pocket of liquid. the size is about 1'' round and its swell out about 3/8'. Is this bad? What's the cause of this? What needs to be done? I am in some discomfort.
Avatar m tn I had laparoscopic surgery to repair an inguinal hernia. After 4 months, the hernia returned, and so I had a second repair surgery by incision. Now, 10 months after the second operation, I'm having some odd "tearing" pains and tenderness under the incision site, and down toward my groin. I'm trying to understand the geometry of the two repairs.
438877 tn?1224357489 Does anyone know if this could the a hernia, or just a normal occurence of using an old scar? the actual incision made for the laparoscopy is only about 5 mm long.
Avatar m tn An incisional hernia can occur years after a surgery, including a laparoscopic procedure. I have a hernia which has developed at the site where I had a procedure some time ago. The weakness in the abdominal wall is created by the incision, even a perfectly healed one. Then the wall is strained through excercise, heavy lifting and even weight gain causing the weaker portion of the abdominal wall to tear (herniate).
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?
Avatar m tn A hydrocelectomy may require you to have a drainage tube and wear a bulky dressing over the site of the incision for a few days after surgery. Also, you may be advised to wear a scrotal support for a time after surgery. Ice packs applied to the scrotal area during the first 24 hours after surgery may help reduce swelling. It is pretty common to develop hydocele after an operation, like for a hernia. hope all goes well. good luck.
415684 tn?1257329318 My mother had a mesh put during her initial debulking surgery and not due to a hernia problem. She developed a nodule at the site from which they drained fluid to diagnose her OVC. She is now 4 months post op but still feels lot of stretch internally at the mesh site. Other than that she has had no problems. She was even able to take IP chemo with this mesh inside.
1297477 tn?1295949511 I did have pain around my incision for a long time following my surgery. However, swelling did not increase after the surgery. My stomach was somewhat swollen after surgery and took a few months to completely go down, but the swelling never got worse during the healing process. If you do too much too soon, you do run the risk of delaying healing and even of getting a hernia. So, if it persists, I think you should call your doctor. Don't worry about overreacting.
Avatar f tn ) The incision has healed well however right after surgery I had this bulge over the incision when I would stand. It has gotten a bit smaller but the more I stand it gets bigger and the pain feel like what a bruise feels like. The bulge goes away when I lay down. It is uncomfortable when I bend my knees up or try to bend over, other than that I feel really well. A little sore still.
Avatar f tn from April to August 2010, and left it open wound for a space of three weeks.. They closed the incision again, and after that I had my first hernia surgery on September 2010. After that one, I had every year after, a hernia repair surgery and waiting at this moment for the decision of a new one. I'm really disappointed that I wasn't told about all the complications that this surgery can or might have.
Avatar f tn This was my second surgery (first... removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids). My recent surgery was also to repair a small hernia and removing bowel adheshions (scar tissue). Both are believed to be a result of my first surgery - possibly returning to work and daily activity too soon. I have 2 questions? First, what is a recommend timeframe to resume daily activities (I.e.driving,etc.). My tentative return tobwork dare isn't until July. And...
2042217 tn?1336527852 You may leave the same day but if the hernia was large you may be asked to stay in hospital for aday. After surgery your vital parameters will be monitored and depending on the parameters you will be discharged. Once back home avoid lifting or strenuous exercise for at least the first two weeks, light exercise like walking can be done. The recovery time varies person to person and depends on your general health condition and extent of hernia.
Avatar f tn In July of 2009 my gallbladder was removed leaving my navel looking the way it did before. In 2012 I started experiencing sharp pains similar to the pain immediately after surgery. Drs ordere CT and ultrasound and blood tests urinalysis all inconclusive. In 2013 a ballon emerged from my navel and Dr suspected a hernia so another round of tests inconclusive. The solution was simply to make an incision in the painful balloon to drain some fluid and pressure.
407716 tn?1201996498 I had inguinial hernia surgery on 12/10/2009 to the left side. Only thing I wonder so far is, if around the 6 inch incision, I should be swelled up as if I had a Bic lighter stiched up inside of me? Anyone else had this much swelling. Please humor me.
Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery 7 1/2 wks ago cannot believe the pain i have had. It was a spagelian hernia and I am a female. After surgery my incision & other private parts swelled up the size of a cantelope and turned black & blue , so pain full couldn't walk. bruising and swollen from upper thighs to belly button and around both sides. Said it's a hematoma. Used mesh but that's all I really know.
245285 tn?1220498346 1. How invasive is a surgery for something like this? I was reading about hernia surgery and it seems some are just done by laser - but I am guessing that mine be more involved than that? 2. If I were to get the surgery now, can I still have children later, or will it be too hard to repeat the surgical procedure once undone? I am in the Cosmetic Surgery section for this because my dr was going to set me up with a Cosmetic/General surgeon when it came time to do the surgery. Thank you!
Avatar f tn 12 years ago I had Exploratory surgery on my abdomen. 2 children CSections ages now 8 and 5. No future children. I had a lower area ventral hernia repaired last July have still been in pain everyday since surgery. Last 4-6 months that pain has increased and moved to the upper region of the incision. New ultrasound more incisional hernias found. My question is what are my options?
Avatar m tn I had inguinal hernia on both sides. I opted for open surgery on Nov 2015. Post that i haven't had any physical activity except walking. I went for swimming on 20th july 2016. I had slight discomfort on the incision area for next few days after swimming. Is this normal? should i take any precautions?
Avatar f tn That happened to me after gb surgery (in the naval incision), and thankfully my doctor noticed it and warned me it might open up. It did. I was in the shower and all at once blood seemed to be everywhere! Had the doc not told me what to expect, I would have freaked. It only took a few minutes to finish draining and all was well after that.
Avatar n tn After I had open inguinal hernia surgery the left side under the incision became numb and is still part numb after two weeks. But the left testicle has become enlarged has not gone down. Could their be something gonig on other than post op swelling?
Avatar f tn What cause a incision to open and leak fluid? I had a hernia operation Oct.19 2010. at the end of Nov.2010 my incision open up and started to leak fluid. It is now Jan 31 2011 and it is still open and still leaking. I have a nurse come every morning to clean and pack it. I ask my surgeon why this is happing, what cause's it to open and he say's that sometimes these things happen. Well he really does not answer my question.
Avatar n tn I have had a CT scan and an ultrasound, and they cannot see a hernia. Yesterday the surgeon told me I do not have a hernia, and this was instead a diseased gallbladder which I need to have surgically removed sooner rather than later, and the CT scan was pretty clear on that as it was full of stones and sludge. I do not have any of the typical gallbladder symptoms. I am worried that I will have my gallbladder removed only to find out my pain was from a hernia.
Avatar f tn My Gynecologist thinks I have a hernia. I have a CT scheduled for Friday and a follow up on Tuesday to discuss results and the plan. It's looking like, either way, I'm having another surgery. If it's not a hernia and nothing else alarming shows up, they will assume it's scar tissue and likely to a laparscopy to look for and break up scar tissue/adhesions. Anyone out there have a hernia after surgery?
Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery 3 weeks ago in my abdomen and now I am experiencing pain and swelling to the right of the incision. There is so much pressure there and the area is rock hard. I called my surgeons office and they said it might be a fluid build up and to try a heating pad. The heating pad worked to reduce the swelling and pressure for the next two days, but does not seem to be working anymore.
Avatar f tn Hi I have a 4 month old shih tzu puppy, I love him dearly. He got nuetered as well as a hernia repair , his hernia ended up coming back out that day. I'm a little concerned about him. He seems very uncomfortable, skiddish, scared, that's not like my pup :( advice please!
Avatar n tn Had biopsy on abdomen for lymphoma 2 yrs ago. Incision herniated and as result of surgery to repair I developed a large pocket of fluid measuring 10cm across 5.5 thick and 7.5cm long in the anterior abdominal wall above the umbilicus. Should this fluid be drained percutaneously with a needle.
