Avatar m tn Hiatal Hernia repair - recently I had surgery to repair a Paraoesophageal hernia. The following notes were written by the surgeon whom has moved to an unknown hospital and I can not contact. I am wondering if you can tell me whether or not the surgeon has used a mesh in the repair or simply just sutured it. He writes - Two 2-0 Prolene sutures to close diaphram with pledgets. One suture anteriorly. Snug closure over 52 Fr bougie. Redo 360 wrap with three 2-0 Novafil sutures. Hemostatis intact.
1199621 tn?1265359349 I'm sorry, I'm not a doctor, so I can't answer your question. I would doubt that they can just "pop" the hernia back into place, but I know of people who have had surgery to repair hernias. You will need to talk to your doctor about that. Regarding exercises that are safe for it -- I really can't answer that either because I don't know how much pressure it can take.
Avatar f tn My question is... with a hiatal hernia this large, are they going to end up doing surgery??? I am a 48 year old female, 168 pounds and 5'3"....

Avatar f tn I have a hiatus hernia which has moved and along with part of stomach has moved up into my chest and is pressing against my heart. Is this quite a common side effect and what is the normal treatment. ie an operation ?
Avatar n tn Can the diastasis recti be repaired through exercise and then the hernia fixed? Does a severe separation require plastic surgery and if so, do I need to separate surgeons, one to do the muscle repair and the other for the tummy tuck?
Avatar m tn I just had double hernia surgery and i am worried about my condition. I just want to know if my testicles are suppose to be swollen and bruised?
Avatar n tn The surgery is a minor surgery and will help the hernia to not get worse. This type of surgery is common and is not a big deal. However, surgery in general can cause scarring and has the potential to cause other problems. So, you can leave the hernia. Perhaps it will get worse or perhaps it will stay the same. Hernias in adults rarely close. Or you can get surgery, it is an outpatient surgery and common. But surgery is surgery and can have deletrious side affects.
Avatar f tn I am having surgery to repair a Hiatal Hernia. Has anyone had this done recently? What can I expect? Is it in and out surgery, how long were you out of work, what could you eat, etc.?
Avatar f tn I had a double hernia surger (lower abdomen & between my ribs) both on top of old scars. Now, 8 months later, I have had an Ultrasound, CT, MRCP all indicating Chronic Pancretitis. I am scheduled for an ERCP. I am not nor have been a drinker and I have had no trauma to my abdomen (except the hernia surgery. I don't feel as if I fully recovered from the hernia surgery. Could a hernia surgery or the scar tissue from that lead to pancretitis or dammage to my pancrease?
1338953 tn?1276126156 My question would also be, wear you diagnosed with a Hiatal Hernia? I have also have a hiatal hernia. Surgery was recommended for my very severe GERD and to correct the hernia. However because surgery may place me in a life threatening situation I have close to mange it with diet and medications. Please tell us about your diagnosis. Have you seen a gastroenterologist or a Gastro-surgeon?
Avatar n tn There are medical procedures that can eliminate the hernia, and they take a few hours to complete (the surgery it self)
Avatar n tn Two years after double hernia surgery, I am experiencing a burning pain similar to the pain I had prior to surgery, although more mild and intermittent. I have cut down on sit ups and other exercising, hoping that is the problem, although it hasn't helped(yet). Any suggestions?
1322711 tn?1278415855 I had gone to my doctor who sent me to ER thinking it was a hematoma from the surgery, tumor, or hernia. I had a CT scan done in ER and it showed up clean. Next step was my OBGYN who did an ultrasound. That came back clean. I was then sent to a GI doctor who did a colonoscopy and that also came back clean. I then went to a laparoscopy specialist who did not find anything either. I finally went to a general surgeon who also found nothing.
Avatar n tn It is rare to do an umbilical hernia without mesh these days, unless it is a tiny hernia. While unlikely, after all this time, it could be an infection of the repair. It is also very possible that it is an infection completely unrelated to the surgery, but either way it should be checked out.
Avatar m tn Treatment involves reducing weight, avoiding constipation, avoiding strenuous work and lifting weight. Hernia is repaired by surgery. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
