hernia-surgery

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed a couple of weeks ago at my HepC semi-annual exam with a belly button hernia and was advised to not have surgery to repair it nor any other surgery because I have cirrhosis. When I asked how they knew I had cirrhosis, they said it was highly likely and they wanted to take every precaution. I have left messages for both HepC doctors, one highly qualified at a large teaching hospital.
Avatar m tn Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?
341655 tn?1240368839 Yes. The surgery for a hiatal hernia is the Nissen Fundaplication, where a portion of the fundus is wrapped around the esophagus in the area of the lower esophageal sphincter. As for the type, 90% of all hiatal hernias are sliding hernias, not paraesophageal, so it's probably a sliding hiatal hernia that you have.
378425 tn?1305628294 This is only my opinion, but if I was having a lot of pain (any time but esp after surgery) and I asked my Dr about it and all he would do is shrug his shoulders, I think that would be the last time that I saw him. I have developed a hernia after my surgery too, mu onc said that as long as it was not causing me any problems then it should be ok. Yours is causing problems (possibly, if that is what it is) so he should be looking in to it.
Avatar n tn Does this mean surgery failed? is hernia back (now they are referring to this as a paraesophageal hernia) The doctors never told us herina might be back so I am wondering when I see x-ray report and it shos Pre-demonstartion of hernia, does that mean there is a new issue or they are seeing repaired hernia? is it typical that Nissen wrap would slip so soon after surgery?

Avatar f tn Hi ladies! Im 11w and my question is the doctors found a small hernia above my belly button about a year and a half ago and they saw no need to go into surgery for it but now that im pregnant do u think this hernia is going to cause issues at all??? Or does anyone else have a similar issue? Thanks ladies!!!!
Avatar n tn I am totally confused about umbilical hernias and exercise. I have one about a dime-size in diameter that is reducible. I saw my GP who indicated that since there was no pain it might just stay that way for the rest of my life. (In her examination she said something about feeling the intestine.) Sort of doing watchful waiting and avoiding things like aggravating it. I let her know that I like to hike with a pack, bike, jog and exercise.
Avatar f tn Okay, I'm scared:( what exactly is a hernia, an extra piece of growth?
Avatar f tn i have had chronic pain in my lower right abdomen for almost 8 years. what started out as a simple inguinal hernia repair has been a nightmare. the doc put the mesh patch in for "good measure". the adhesions are massive. from many doctors i have been diagnosed as having probably 3 nerve paths trapped in the adhesions. The inguinal, hypogastric and genital femerol nerves are all involved. After years and years of procedures I have not had any pain relief that lasted more than a day.
Avatar m tn After an inguinal hernia repair ~1 year ago, I am still experiencing erectile dysfunction and weak ejaculation. No issues whatsoever prior to surgery but issues immediately after. In the surgery report it said they had to sacrifice the genitofemoral and ilioinguinal nerve branches due to severe adhesion to the hernia. Post-operation I have not since had "morning wood" and have experienced somewhat of a decrease in size (both flaccid and erect).
Avatar n tn I have been recently told by my doctors that I have a paraesophageal hernia. They don't want to do the surgery since I have had so many already: diaphragmatic hernia when born, repair of the diaphragmatic hernia, intestinal adhesions, flundoplacation, and hitial hernia. They said for now it doesn't show any sign of strangulation or getting worse. So my question is should I still try for a baby or will this hernia cause me a lot of issues with pregnancy?
Avatar f tn It is possible it will go down or be less noticeable after you deliver, yet will always be there. If it gets worse surgery will be the treatment. I scheduled my hernia surgery just this morning for the end of NOV. YIPPY LOL Hope This Helps.

Avatar n tn So the heart doctor thinks that the chest pain is caused from the hital hernia and the acid reflux and thinks that having the chest pain as bad as I have it that surgery is needed for the hernia. I need some advice on this can anyone help me.
Avatar m tn Hello, thanks so much for reaching out regarding issues post-inguinal hernia surgery. Do you experience erection and ejaculation issues post surgery? Have you noticed any improvement over the years in these issues? If you have any questions for me please feel free, I've been trying to reach out to anyone who has experienced the same issues but have struggled to do so. I also found this one article that is quite an interesting read and seems to support what we are talking about: https://www.
478868 tn?1209031705 I thought it was all due to the surgery. Guess not, she thinks I have an incisional hernia. I see my surgeon Thursday for further evaluation. Has anyone ever had this? I thought after the hysterectomy, removal of the malignant tumor, I was well on the road to recovery. What am I in for now?

Avatar f tn I had surgery months back (10/2015) to repair a hernia under my belly button as well as to close a small hole on the inner wall of my belly button. Now i dont have any pain, the incission looks like it healed properly but about 2-3 weeks after the surgery i started getting nauseated. It started out just when i was really hungry or over ate just a bit. It has gotten to the point now (the last 2 months) that no matter what i do i am nauseated.
