Avatar n tn Hello, Repair of the hernia will be done by a gastro surgeon and diastasis of the abdominal wall(tummy tuck operation)will be done by a plastic surgeon. Both are not very complicated procedures but it should be remembered that no surgery even if a minor one is full proof.Complications can arise in any.A partial abdominoplasty (Mini-Tuck Abdominoplasty) can be completed between 1 to 2 hours and a complete abdominoplasty can take 1 to 5 hours.
Avatar f tn He lives in Pakistan where there is no health care insurance. Finding a donor of liver and then the cost of transplant is out of reach of a person. It could be in millions of Rupees and impossible for an ordinary family. Some people say that if hernia explodes inside the body, it will kill the person. Is there any way to contain the Hepatitis C and reduce the bulge of swollen hernia?
Avatar f tn Hello, I used to have extreme pain in the left lower abdomen area (groin area), which was the result of a hernia. I had surgery in July and that took all the pain away. Unfortunately, about two weeks ago, the same exact pain came back. For the past few days, Ive had extreme sharp pain in the same area. I went to the surgeon who fixed my hernia, and she proclaimed that "there is no way the pain is from the hernia".
942162 tn?1245428214 The risks of a diaphragmatic hernia depend on the size of the hernia. If it's large, chances are internal organs will eventually find their way through the hole and become strangulated, leading to emergency surgery to save the pet's life. If it's small, the pet can go its entire life and live a normal number of years and never have a problem with it. I don't know why it would cost thousands of dollars to repair, however.
1666825 tn?1303252659 I have a history of a lot of heart problems as well as had trouble with a hiatal hernia. I read your post on the Heart medhelp board and know your heart has been checked out and no problems were found with your heart. I can tell you from first hand experience angina and GERD problems from a hiatal hernia can cause a similiar symptom, but in my experience you just know when you are experiencing a heart attack. There is no other experience like it.
Avatar m tn It seems that there is a strange link between my left testicle with the area, and around the area, of my hernia repair incision. This link starts from the back side of my testicle. From the research I've done, it seems that the Vas deferens or spermatic cord have a discomforting link with the area around the hernia repair wound. This is not painful but it is discomforting to say the least.
1169557 tn?1263270893 My mother had the gastric bypass surgery about 3 years ago. The operation went horribly wrong and she almost died on the operation table. Fortunately she was able to make it through (barely) and faught for her life. She was in hospital for weeks until she was sent home. Even when she was sent home she was on bed rest with a feeding tube and cathater attatched.
Avatar f tn I think that the kind of hernia surgery you are looking at it is a relatively simple surgery, as far as surgery goes. I don't think the dog will have to be put under deep anaesthesia, the procedure is something that is done close to the surface, and it is a fairly quick operation. I would expect a healthy dog to recover well. Your boy might have some activity restrictions while he is recovering, to keep him from pulling the stitches loose and undoing the procedure.
Avatar m tn Hiatal Hernia repair - recently I had surgery to repair a Paraoesophageal hernia. The following notes were written by the surgeon whom has moved to an unknown hospital and I can not contact. I am wondering if you can tell me whether or not the surgeon has used a mesh in the repair or simply just sutured it. He writes - Two 2-0 Prolene sutures to close diaphram with pledgets. One suture anteriorly. Snug closure over 52 Fr bougie. Redo 360 wrap with three 2-0 Novafil sutures. Hemostatis intact.
Avatar f tn Dr Zenn at Duke told me the first step of Diep will cost sixty thousand.. with tmy insurance paying eighty percent of what they think he should have charged. I have Mega Life and they do not pay well. They only pay a maximum of two thousand for ambulatory procedures. Would breast reductioin and lift by ambulatory? Would tissue expander placement be ambulatory. How much would that cost... a range? How much for the implant placement. Is it ambulatory as well?
Avatar f tn I have no medical insurance and I have an agressive cataract in my right eye that has made me legally blind in that eye. Does anyone know what the range of actual cost of cataract surgery sans insurance payments is. It would be mono focal and only the one eye. Any information would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn None of the women who underwent mastectomy had breast cancer events during follow-up, versus 7% of those who did not have surgery. Similarly, prophylactic salpingo-oophorectomy was associated with lower risk for ovarian cancer. Salpingo-oophorectomy was also associated with decreased risk for breast cancer in both BRCA1 (hazard ratio, 0.63) and BRCA2 (HR, 0.36) carriers.
494961 tn?1250742077 Yes, your symptoms could be caused by a hiatal hernia. I also suffered from this until fundoplication surgery (which has opened up a Pandora's box of other syptoms).
Avatar m tn Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.
2121656 tn?1395674749 Please don't assume that I've demanded a Ultrasound for my issue, it was my PCP you ordered the ultrasound for a problem I'm having with my liver. Therefore, common sense would be at the time of viewing the aorta, kidney, pancreas, ect. so, I was only asking if the ultrasound on the kidney area would also show the lump under my 6th rib. It would make more since to me to examine the lump at the same time. With all due respect, I'm entertained by some Dr.
Avatar n tn My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.
Avatar m tn Dear Doctor,  thank you so much for entering in my post  I am a guy of 28 years, I've been suffering for 7 years from acid reflux with sliding hiatal hernia of 1,5 cm of diameter, diagnosed by endoscopy made on date 27/06/2009 caused by a bad use of my diaphragm studing opera my symptoms are:  1)pain in the central part of my stomach with presence of a sort of little ball which is visible even to naked eye  2)feeling of foreign body in the throat  3)feeling of burning to my oesophagus  4)
Avatar n tn Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.
