Avatar f tn I had hernia surgery 3 weeks ago in my abdomen and now I am experiencing pain and swelling to the right of the incision. There is so much pressure there and the area is rock hard. I called my surgeons office and they said it might be a fluid build up and to try a heating pad. The heating pad worked to reduce the swelling and pressure for the next two days, but does not seem to be working anymore.
Avatar f tn after my boyfriend had hernia surgery the Dr used mesh to cover the hole there is pinching and pulling on the left side where the hernia was, his surgery was July 29th, he still sleeps on the couch This discussion is related to Hernia complications.
1444487 tn?1284392849 I'm writing about my fiance. He had an inguinal hernia surgery (open), back in February. Here we are, 7 months later, and he's still in debilitating pain. He has a triangle of pain on the side he was operated on. It goes from his belly button to his left testicle, to his left hip. He normally was a truck driver, and did auto body work in his free time. He has literally been on the couch or in bed for 7 months.
Avatar m tn Gastric bypass 2012, lap chole 2013, exploratory lap 2014, panniculectomy 2015, ventral hernia repair 2015, mesh removal from hernia repair with exp lap 2016, and recently open epigastric incisional hernia repair 2/21/2017. I am one month post op from recent surgery. Immediately upon opening my eyes from surgery I knew something was different. I had extreme pain, more pain then I've had with any surgery I've had.
Avatar f tn I am 9 mos. Post op troupet wrap and hernia repair. At 3 mos problems started with some nausea and pain in wrap area. Then got colitis with rectal bleeding and nausea and diarrhea. Then the worlds worst nausea I have ever had started with intense stomach pains. Have no life and losing house and car and I'm a single mom who can't function anymore. Avatar n tn However, if you have symptoms of an umbilical hernia even without complications, you should consult your doctor for advice. In adults, most umbilical hernias do not correct themselves unless diagnosed at a very early stage and require minor surgery. Yoga is very useful in reducing the symptoms of hernia only in early stage. It relieves symptoms such as heaviness, fullness and pain.
Avatar m tn Bottom line I went into get gallbladder removed now I need OPEN Hernia surgery to repair inguinal hernia. (My internist agrees the gas probably pushed the hernia out. Painful bulge, burns sometimes, but seems to go back in when I sleep and pops out next day.) Can gas cause this and if my surgeon read prior scans (he didnt) what could have been done differently. I am sure I am not the first patient to have suffered from gas-induced hernia.
Avatar m tn Hello~What type of hernia operation was it? I have not heard of not being able to get travel insurance because of it. I would ask your doctor and see what he has to say, maybe he can shed some light as to why this is.

Avatar f tn A family member has a new inguinal hernia. It's not super painful, but there's a bulge about the size of half an egg cut longways, which gets bigger when he coughs or anything, but then goes back down to egg-sized. It also gets sore when he does too much walking or gets constipated. He's only had this hernia 2-3 weeks. It hurt much more at first, and never been nearly as painful as when it first happened, but he has some pain a few times a day, but its not really bad.
Avatar f tn i have had chronic pain in my lower right abdomen for almost 8 years. what started out as a simple inguinal hernia repair has been a nightmare. the doc put the mesh patch in for "good measure". the adhesions are massive. from many doctors i have been diagnosed as having probably 3 nerve paths trapped in the adhesions. The inguinal, hypogastric and genital femerol nerves are all involved. After years and years of procedures I have not had any pain relief that lasted more than a day.
5447645 tn?1368180755 Were you able to discuss the surgical procedure for the hernia and non-functional testes? It is important that you manage the hernia also to prevent any complications in the future. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar n tn its a defect in the abdominal wall that usually holds back whats inside (could be intestines, fat, or other internal organs) the hole may become bigger letting more out, but it also runs the risk that something (say intestines) can push out and have the blood supply to them cut off which then becomes serious(and needs surgery ASAP)... but some people may have a hernia their whole entire lives and live with them with no complications...

Avatar n tn A gall bladder that is inflammed or infected and has not received adequate attention in time can develop complications such as fibrosis or adhesions to surrounding structures which make it difficult to free the structure during an emergency surgery. There will be associated complications with this and response to the surgery may not be optimal. A stent would be placed for effective drainage of the bile into the duodenum.
Avatar m tn HI...I have not had this surgery and from what others have said about it I hope ur dr advised u in advance of the issues u will have afterward.....many post they were unaware they would not be able to vomit even tho they have the flu and feel sick.....also that the Nissen can slip...need to be redone and several have had a re occurrence of the same symptoms that had prior to surgery...u can use the search this community to get to older threads on this topic. .
1265027 tn?1284839951 From what I read, Sliding herinas typically cause no symptoms but can make acid reflux worse. I think this just maybe complications from your surgery. I have been told my GB needs to be taken out due to two small polyps but not sure if I want to since they are small and have no symptoms.
