hernia surgery child

Hi, 6 years ago i had my 2nd child and developed an umbilical hernia, which i had surgery for the repair. I now have had a 3rd baby - 5 months now- and have the umbilical hernia has returned.

t really feel it but that was typical of a c-section hernia. I am due to have surgery in March. After being told about my hernia I have been afraid to workout and gained 60 lbs. I would like to get fit again and do crunches and pretty much everything else. I'm scared that I will make the hernia worse. It doesn't stick out and only hurts when I lay a certain way.

I agree it sounds like a hernia! After I had my second child I was diagnosed with Abdominal Separation, which is a lot like a hernia but not painful. Fortunately they can correct a hernia but with AS you are stuck with it unless you have a tummy tuck. So here I am trying to loose all this weight and I stuck with a huge egg bulging out of my belly! Gross!!!! Just make sure you mention this to your OB so they can monitor it so it does not get a kink in it!

How old is the child and has the hernia increased in size.? Has the pediatrician of the child suggested surgery to you .?.

ve been told their is little point in having surgery again yet - as Im still carrying my child a lot. What exercises can I do to help maybe close the gap? I am fairly active and have recently started a bit of yoga again, but Im conscious of maybe doing more harm than good.

Can the diastasis recti be repaired through exercise and then the hernia fixed? Does a severe separation require plastic surgery and if so, do I need to separate surgeons, one to do the muscle repair and the other for the tummy tuck?

visit to check on health prior to surgery? Usually they schedule those right before the surgery. They will not put any child (or adult) under anethesia with symptoms you describe. But your doctor will make that call. So, give the doctor a call yourself and tell him the symptoms your child is having.

1. How invasive is a surgery for something like this? I was reading about hernia surgery and it seems some are just done by laser - but I am guessing that mine be more involved than that? 2. If I were to get the surgery now, can I still have children later, or will it be too hard to repeat the surgical procedure once undone? I am in the Cosmetic Surgery section for this because my dr was going to set me up with a Cosmetic/General surgeon when it came time to do the surgery. Thank you!

Cherie sorry about the misinformation, my wife has both a hernia and fibroids however only the fibroids are in the uterus the hernia is not in the uterus it is a normal hernia

Is this a result of surgery, the accident or both. I don’t understand how a car accident can cause a hernia.

My husband had the surgery many years ago and he did just fine. You will have to take it easy for awhile though. Depending on how extensive the hernia is, I would'nt be too surprised if they do the surgery out patient. Of course you'll receive pains meds and the Dr will send you home with a script for pain meds.

Hi my name it's Brenda and I'm 8 weeks pregnant, And my boyfriend can to the house today saying had he had hernia surgery and he can't have kids.. It makes me feels really sad. Anyway my question is has anyone had a surgery other than the nissen fundo to repair the hernia. I am interested in having mine fixed but do NOT want my stomach wrapped around my esophagus. I'd like for a surgeon to just go in and pull the stomach to its proper position and sew up the hole in the diaphram essentially returning everything to its natural order.

I was told they wouldnt do surgery while I was pregnant unless it became strangled. I had surgery about 2 months after my son was born. I got pregnant a few weeks later and went on to deliver my 4th child without difficulties. The surgery itself didnt take long and I left the same day. You are told to do no lifting afterwards. The insiion is maybe 1.5 inches long and kinda curved like a smiley face smile.

Also, I have to decide whether to go ahead with the hernia surgery. Seeing now that she has this heart condition I am a bit hesitant. The cardiologist told me that she could ahead with the hernia surgery and advised me about antibiotics and I have to revisit in 3 months time. My daughter was hospitalized on two occasions before and that condition was not detected.

They will have to take the baby from my side and there are many risks because of that. My insurance will NOT approve the hernia surgery because it is in Portland which is 4 hours away from me. I get approx. 70 bubbles a day (where I have to push them back in). They are getting harder to push back in.

The doctor examined me and found a groin hernia and I'm scheduled for surgery in sept. I think I want laproscopic but am I going to end up with permanent pain? will the mesh or non-tension method fail to stop the hernia from progressing? Have been on Plavix for 13 months and find I need Hernia surgery now as I am having having many problems due to the Hernia. What is the possibility of having surgery? If I have surgery is the Plavix stopped for a number of days and then resumed?

Is this a depression or i am just nervous? i was shock with my 3yr old son because his positive for Hirschsprung's disease, & hernia. my son is constipated for almost 8months the dr told me that my son is suffering a Hirschsprung's disease & hernia. my son need a hernia surgery, & Hirschsprung's surgery. it's awful.

Hi Jenny, I have a hiatal hernia, but do not require surgery...I have known about my hernia since I was in my teens. I had a few flares that required meds...but, with proper diet and lifestyle I am able to keep it under control without meds. I just got my self off meds after being on them 2 yrs....I had flares from 3 diff surgeries....the meds they use to put u under alone can upset a balanced system.
