625302 tn?1255485995 I'm about 1 year post tummy tuck and have a large, painful bulge above the umbilicus. The plastic surgeon said it was normal, that he didn't find anything unusual. I had an abdominal ultrasound (for another reason) and the report indicated that the umbilicus bulge was most likely scar tissue. I'm wondering what type of test would determine if this is a hernia and would making an appointment with a general surgeon be the next step.
Avatar f tn Saw another doc today unrelated to surgery and she said it could be a hernia. She did a quick bedside ultra sound and said it is not fluid. What did yours turn out to be?
Avatar n tn Hello, Repair of the hernia will be done by a gastro surgeon and diastasis of the abdominal wall(tummy tuck operation)will be done by a plastic surgeon. Both are not very complicated procedures but it should be remembered that no surgery even if a minor one is full proof.Complications can arise in any.A partial abdominoplasty (Mini-Tuck Abdominoplasty) can be completed between 1 to 2 hours and a complete abdominoplasty can take 1 to 5 hours.
Avatar f tn Hi yes you can kill two birds with one stone your doctor can submit it as a necessary procedure since you have to have the hernia removed any way. I just had a tuck and a hernia removed at the same time and not only did it save me money it saved me time.
Avatar n tn I have hernia after my pregnancy and my tummy did not go back to its shape before pregnancy .
Avatar n tn Therefore I elected a tummy tuck the same time the hernia was fixed. He reset my belly button, lipo, and a full Abdominoplasty. Then and still, 10 years later,The outer skin of my stomach is numb. Athough I asked the doctor to contour my waist, I have a big love handle bulge and I'm not not sure where my waist is supposed to be, above the bulge, below the bulge or somewhere in the middle of the bulge. He told me I needed a touch up, but I am afraid of further numbing.
Avatar f tn I had surgery 40 years ago on my left hand side, I also had a mini tummy tuck two years ago. For the last 6 months my stomach has become swollen like a basketball and distorted on my right hand side and often tight as a drum. My Doctor did all of my blood work and an ultrasound, thankfully all came back OK. He thinks it may be an abdominal wall hernia, caused by my original surgery scar tissue. I am waiting to see a plastic surgeon but does anyone have an opinion on this?
1311499 tn?1273675955 how much does a tummy tuck cost? can you have one after having 3 c-sections and cut vertical with all 3 of them? I have also had gull blatter surgery and my tubes tied. My last procedure was about 2 years ago. I have bad belly flab from my babies. I have had 4 babies. I have really bad stretch marks too. Is there anything I can do that is not surgery that will help with any of this too? I hate my body!! I just want to look good again. Any answer? Thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn They also informed her that if it keeps going this way the infection can spread into her blood which may cause death in the end. She tried calling lawyers and no one will take the case and no one will fix her surgery. Does anyone have an idea of what step we can take next?? She has 3 young children and i would hate for them to loose such a great mother!
Avatar n tn The burning sensation can be due to reflux or GERD or simply acidity. Smoking can slow down the healing process and cause burning and pain on and off. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
1342947 tn?1276200358 I agree it sounds like a hernia! After I had my second child I was diagnosed with Abdominal Separation, which is a lot like a hernia but not painful. Fortunately they can correct a hernia but with AS you are stuck with it unless you have a tummy tuck. So here I am trying to loose all this weight and I stuck with a huge egg bulging out of my belly! Gross!!!! Just make sure you mention this to your OB so they can monitor it so it does not get a kink in it!
Avatar f tn I had a tummy tuck 3 wks ago, and although my incision and navel are dry and well heal, i have a sharp pain in the left side of my incision. It is not a constant pain, but happens when i walk and its very uncomfortable. my apt is dam, cold and humid. my mother says this could be the reason. anything to worry about ? my doctor said to take motrin 600mg.
245285 tn?1220498346 1. How invasive is a surgery for something like this? I was reading about hernia surgery and it seems some are just done by laser - but I am guessing that mine be more involved than that? 2. If I were to get the surgery now, can I still have children later, or will it be too hard to repeat the surgical procedure once undone? I am in the Cosmetic Surgery section for this because my dr was going to set me up with a Cosmetic/General surgeon when it came time to do the surgery. Thank you!
Avatar n tn i am 4wks. post tummy tuck, my belly button is red, but when i do not wear my binder the reddness gets lighter. it seems like the air from not wearing the binder helps it. i am putting bacitracin on the area. the md said i can leave off the binder for approx. 8hrs., then put it back on. i really do not want to wear the binder anymore. any suggestions will help, thank you. hbrand@ aol.
Avatar f tn Good health is mandatory for a tummy tuck procedure. And for what you asked, tummy tuck surgery can be a great solution for your problem. It tightens the abdominal muscles and removes the excess fat and skin. It will definitely give you a better result. Because I know many people who are satisfied with the tummy tuck surgery they underwent. I can suggest you a doctor who deals with all these surgeries in a clean manner. Dr. Sammy Sliwin ( Location:Toronto, Ontario).
Avatar n tn Can the diastasis recti be repaired through exercise and then the hernia fixed? Does a severe separation require plastic surgery and if so, do I need to separate surgeons, one to do the muscle repair and the other for the tummy tuck?
229760 tn?1291467870 My husband just had surgery for an umbilical hernia. It was a pretty easy surgery, his only took 20 min! It was a small one though. the recovery time is a killer though. 6 weeks of not lifting ANYTHING over 15lbs. You don't realize how hard that is until you have to do it! Good luck when you do decide to do it!
Avatar f tn t have insurance. Although from my understanding, the insurance cos. consider it to be cosmetic surgery (tummy tuck) so i hear they don't cover it most of the time anyway. And that doesn't make a bit of sense to me. I may end up with a flatter stomach because my muscles are sewn back together but who cares how flat your stomach is if you have a scar from stem to stern?!
649905 tn?1223940508 You can get your insurance company to pay for the Diastasis Recti, but you would have to pay for the tummy tuck portion yourself. I had the surgery in October 2009. I had two surgeons: a general surgeon and a plastic surgeon. The general surgeon did the repair (which was covered by insurance). The plastic surgeon did the tummy tuck. This is how the procedure goes: The plastic surgeon makes the bikini incision and lifts the skin.
Avatar f tn Discomfort following any surgery varies from patient to patient and with the magnitude and details of the procedure performed. For most major surgery, the turning point when patients feels really well is typically by six weeks. Your surgeon should be in a position to advise you if your healing process is normal.
Avatar m tn I will have surgery 01/08 for the hernia repair and abdominoplasty(tummy tuck). For finance help try carecredit, many doctors will accept this program.
Avatar n tn I had a tummy tuck with liposuction 12 months ago. I am still swollen and sometimes my stomach looks distorted. I have not put on any extra weight since surgery.I am so frustrated because at times it hurts like a pulling feeling. I went back to the doctor a couple of times and he tells me to wear a ace band around me tight and i do but it does't help. Is this normal and if so how much longer does it take. i cannot exercise at all or lift anything heavy because it will swell even more.
Avatar n tn i would try and lose the weight first try and be around you ideal weight before surgery, i was around 15lbs overweight before my surgery, i planned on losing it, but no matter what i do i cant lose it i actually gained an additional 12lbs since my tummy tuck, but 40lbs sounds like a lot, tummy tucks are meant to make your belly tight and they are expensive and painful i dont thinkyou would want to do it twice
