Avatar f tn The only thing you have to worry about is not taking Vitamin K especially because it causes blood clotting while on aggrenox. The other natural blood thinners include vitamin E, garlic, onions, and vitamin C because they also thin blood. That's why doctors tell you not to take these vitamins before an operation. My mother had a stroke about 5 months ago and we are considering opening the blood thinning aggrenox capsules and giving her half the dosages with applesause.
1349879 tn?1276896903 im a complementary therapist and i do aromatherapy and use lots of natural oils. Natural herbs, supplements and vitamins are essential for a good inner body. Depending on the detox you are doing depends on the things your body will need.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your post. It sounds like you really know alot about the best herbs and natural elements for anxiety. I will look for the book you suggest. I strongly believe in natural remedies over drugs since i seem to have more success with them and less problems and side effects. I still use panicyl which is a blend of several of the vitamin b's and herbs you listed. May i ask what you take and what works for you Paxiled?
Avatar m tn I am looking for a quality supplier for herbs, vitamins, and other natural products. I've heard there are differences in quality. I figure if I am going to spend my money, I want it to be on something worthwhile. So what does everyone else do? Do you have a favorite supplier? If so, why? I cannot really find any third party reviews on these type of products.
Avatar f tn I have been studying natural health and supplements for many years and have found that many over the counter supplements are not worthy of the money spent. A good friend of mine actually has owned a healthfood store for approximately 20 years and has taught me which over the counters are worthy.
Avatar f tn Hello I am going to begin taking herbs **** Quai Red Rasberry Chasteberry Wild yam the site says they help with fertility and menstrual discomfort Has anyone taken herbs with any benefit or have any other information you can share
Avatar m tn I agree with Paxiled on everything about natural supplements and pharmaceutical industry ( $283 billion worldwide in profit by the way ). And this is why you don't see too many doctors recommend the use of vitamins and natural supplements. It is also why you don't see many people get a high dose IV vitamin C treatment to replace or mixed with chemotherapy in cancer treatments. But people are waking up and sooner or later a revolution will happen in the medical field.
Avatar m tn I am more or less doing the opposite of what i was doing with my prevIous TX,which was taking a multi vitamins and a few other herbs...vit D...licorice tea, flax seed, but not milk thistle (even tho my doc said it was ok)...this round of TX i am gone totally simple with my foods...i hate to mention this ...but stem enhance is included too in my after TX...i took this just after my last TX...maybe it has helped me before goin into this round of TX....
Avatar f tn m just passing this on because for the past 35 years I have been a health freak, taking all sorts of vitamins and doing all sorts of extreme health routines and thought I was really helping myself. I believed all the literature I was reading. But it took a doctor who really knows body chemistry to set me straight about HC. I am now on treatment because this Doc told me that if he were me, he would pull out all the stops to get well.
Avatar m tn Well, I believe that vitamins, minerals, herbs, are ALL important, they need to be taken on a daily basis for them to really be effective however. You need good, reliable, name brands, the ones from most drug stores like Centrum are basically useless and do not have much of the so-called product in them, they are mainly fillers. I take mine from companies such as "Solar ray" "Thorne" "Blue Bonnet" Eclectic Institute" "Standard Processing Labs" etc.
Avatar n tn It's not that this forum doesn't support the natural way to good living but we all understand that taking vitamins and herbs will not kill the virus only interferon/ribavirin can CURE you of this disease. Herbs cannot. Having a nice level enzyme level is great but it does not mean that you do not have hep c or that it is not affecting your body in any way. Pretty simple.
422425 tn?1307992990 She is a walking Encyclopedia of information on health, nutrition, meds, herbs and vitamins. I am having major pain issues and have tried everything. I do not want to live on pain meds or meds the rest of my life. I believe they are causing me more harm than good. This is what she told me today...... I told her my story. She was not excited about the "cocktail" of meds the doc has me on (Lexapro, Klonopin and Nuvigil or Norco for pain). She said, no wonder I was all screwed up.
574118 tn?1305135284 I have done a significant amount of research on herbal agents, so I will try to help you, although you are asking many questions, some of which are not very clear. First, and most importantly: if you are diagnosed with bipolar disorder, you must be under the care of a psychiatrist, someone educated in the prescription medicines that you nee to control your condition. It is not correct that the natural herbs in your list are 'tranquilizers'.
Avatar n tn I started acupuncture and herbs for myself and a mixture of herbs, vitamins and supplements for my husband reccomended by my wonderful acupuncturist who is a renowned fertility expert. . We finally opted for IVF with ICSI ( the only option when you have male factor) and I just had my embryo transfer 3 days ago and am waiting. From my personal experience, the vitamins/minerals and wonderdrug Speman not only improved my husbands sperm quality but also his overall health.
Avatar f tn I dont understand why some of u are filling urself with so much vitamins..did u calculate ur body needs and do u overpass it? To much vitamins isnt good too..
Avatar f tn Anyone try natural herbs to help regulate their cycles? I have been married 19 years and want a baby so badly. Ive tried chasteberry and black cohash with neither of them working.
535882 tn?1396576685 The other thing with natural products is that herbs and amino acids are generally used in combination, since no one is all that strong. That's also what makes them safer than pharmaceuticals, but also makes them work less well independently. So look at that book, it will give you a good overall view of the scene. By the by, another problem with supplements is getting them where you need them, particularly past the blood brain barrier. Same problem with pharmaceuticals.
Avatar f tn Are there natural herbs that I could find at the health food store that promote mental health and help with depression/suicidal thinking? Going to a therapist or psychiatrist is not an option for me because it is against my healthy lifestyle (not to mention I've tried that already, including medication & talk therapy...both of which did not work & were a waste of my time). Just wondering...
Avatar f tn Within 5yrs I had 2 kinds of arthritis and hyperthyroidism and have been battling health problems ever since. Take your hormones...or at least natural vitamins and herbs that will directly keep your hormone levels up or you may regret it!
Avatar m tn Thank you! This is very helpful and leads me in a more positive direction.

Avatar n tn I need names of herbs take for my Thyroids troubles.. This discussion is related to Thyroid medication and swollen glands in neck..
667008 tn?1231126469 As for herbal supplements it is always best to consult your doctor as herbs are powerful and there are interactions with other medication your daughter may be taking for her kidney or certain herbs she should never take. The same goes for minerals and vitamins, it's always best to consult a doctor before engaging on that path. I started taking magnesium and find it helps, but it's more a combination of different things together that seem to work best.
