Common Questions and Answers about Heavy periods with large clots

period

For some reason its been 6 days and very heavy with varying sizes in the clots. I would think my period was about to end and then it'd get heavy again. Should I be worried?
Before I got on birth control, I had heavy periods with blood clots. Blood clots are a perfectly normal part of having a period. The lining of your uterus needs to be shed!
I was having almost six months of very heavy bleeding.....Have a talk with your gyn.she probably will be able to advise you............

This same thing happend to me not last month but the month before i thought it stopped than i passed one the size of an egg, what is going on can anyone tell me a friend of mine says its premenepause?
I am 38. I pass a lot of blood clots during my periods, large and small. Is it normal? I also have painful periods and lasts for six days. Is there anyway to stop periods in 3 or 4 days? Please suggest a remedy for this.
HI, Heavy and irregular bleeding can be because of some pelvic pathology like fibroids, endometrial hyperplasia, adenomyosis etc. Hence an examination and an ultrasound scan should be done to make the diagnosis. Consult a gynaecologist. Hope this helps.
sometimes heavy with lots of pain and lasts for 5-6 days, other times heavy no pain but last up to three weeks with very large clots and back feels sore. have been checked for PCOS was negative, used oral contraceptive doesn't work, and still can't find the problem. Need help because i am now in university and it is interrupting my studies as i have to be changing and wearing two napkins as often as six times per day and having fear of messing up when i stand after sitting.
I dont think it has to do with being overweight, when i was younger i was very thin and i always had really heavy periods too. LIke changing a pad every hour or 2. Now ive had a baby almost a yr ago and cant seem to lose weight but my periods are not that heavy as they use to be. Try getting on b.c.
I am a 44 year old woman who has never had a full pregnancy and I am now having horrible periods with very heavy bleeding for about 2 days with large heavy clots of blood and very sharp cramps, I have started taking birth control pills to help the bleeding but about two days into my period the heavy bleeding and sharp pains happen. what does it mean?
What I'm worried is since it coming back for the past 2 days, it been very heavy, I am passing huge black color blood clots (large one, very large). I do have blood clots but never I see this large before during my cycles in the past. Should I just wait couple more days and see? I really don't want to go to hospital, since I don't have health insurance to afford. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm just worried seeing the large blood clots.

I started my period about 1 and a half and i have been bleeding noone stop! Its not just blood that comes out but large blood clots, its larger than normal.I get them frequently in a day mabye 5-6 in a day and they are large.I keep having bad pains everyday always going and i don't know what i should do.I have been to the doctor about the pain and he gave me tablets for them.Last month he gave me tablets to help my periods become constant but they are just irregular , long and very very painful!
Ever since all my periods have been extremely heavy, and I pass very large and numerous clots. One clot last month filled the entire bottom of the toilet bowl. It was probably a 1/2 to 1 cup in size. Definately larger than a nickle or quarter. I used to think I had heavy periods before my last pregnancy, but this is ridiculous and worrisome.
When menstrual bleeding is heavy, clotting tends to occur. Experiencing menstrual clots can be upsetting. If the clots are large they can be painful and cause cramping as they pass through the cervix. The following is a brief explanation as to why menstrual clots (often large clots) are formed. All blood contains a clotting factor. To enable menstrual blood to flow freely from the uterus and leave the body without clotting, the uterus produces an anti-clotting agent: plasmin.
my period is always irregular but the past 2 times I got it I had huge clots with it my biggest one the size of a golf ball maybe a tad smaller...I feel fine I don't have any pain but I did have a miscarrige 2 1/2 years ago when I was 18. like I said I'm deathly afraid of Dr.s so I never got checked out. I was just wondering if this is really bad...has anyone had this happen before?
I am 47 and have had extremely heavy, uncomfortable periods, causing anemia for 21 years. This started after my second and last child was born and I had a tubal ligation. In the past year and a half, I have begun something new that is extremely difficult to deal with. During my heaviest flow, I will go "dry" and experience labor like pain for several hours. It is excruciating....
I am 43 yrs old and have had heavy clotty periods all my life they also lasted from 7 to 9 days each month was put on bc to regulate them and it worked then had my children and my tubes tied and everything seemed ok, my cycle went back and periods went back to what they were when i was a teen (heavy clots and 7-9 days), but manageable until i found out i am hyperglycemic and also put on wellbutrin for depression and now i have been bleeding for 20 days heavy and egg sized clots, dr is sending me
This even woke me up last night and I barely made it to the bathroom on time. Past periods have been heavy and even sometimes painful but never with such large clots or unpredictable flow. There is very little cramping with this period, which is also unusual. Also, it is about 1 week early. Just concerned, or should I be? Is this just another step towards pre-menopause?
Thus meaning that I will be getting my tubes tied at the same time the Novasure procedure is done. I have been dealing with heavy bleeding with my periods for two years now. The first time I even talked to my GYN about it was when I had my regular monthly period that lasted 7-10 days (that was normal for me since I first got my period at age 12), it stopped for one day, and then WHAM! another full blown period.
I was previously detected with PCOS, but when i try searching information on PCOS, it focuses more on missing periods rather than so heavy and long periods. Any contributions from anyone? any suggesstions?
However, I am noticing that I am bleeding very heavily, big clots...I never ever had such heavy periods, I need to change my pads every 1 hour or so...today is my third day. Its been 6 months since I have been married, I am not on any birth control pills. My last period was normal. I dont have a history of irregular periods. Could you please tell me..what should I do now?
I had my tubes tied in 2005 and before that my periods lasted for about a week with very little pain and always regular. After I had the procedure I have periods that are very heavy, last for about 4-5 days and sometimes I have 2 periods in a month. in the last 6-9 months I have also been experiencing severe cramps and pass very large clots, and I feel a pressure in my pelvis that is very similar to when I was in labor. Is this something that some women experience or should I be concerned?
it is normal to pass clots during mensruation, usually no larger than a small tangerine.
I also have the same problem. Some months I go heavy for about 2 days and pass alot of clots some large some tiny. Then it slacks off and I am regular and fades to nothing within 3 more days. My last period I started on the 24th of August and went really heavy for about 10 days and then it slacked off to only spotting mildly throughout the day. A couple of days almost nothing.
