So my periods started as normal, but after three days it started bleeding abnormal. It is lasting now for 11 days and it is very heavy. I have to change my super tampon every two hours with huge clots.

I was blown away looking at peoples charts and their periods lasting only 2-3 days. My periods last 5-7 days and I usually have 2 days of heavy bleeding (around 5 pads a day) Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with me? How are your general periods?
about a year after the last had a tubal. ever since then been bleeding like crazy. 2 -3 - 4 weeks..heavy .then slow, after a few days it starts over again. sometimes the clots are so big i can't leave home. ever overflowed a toilet ...trying to catch all that's flowing...have had thyroid checked, ultra sound, internal exam, bloodwork, she can't find a thing wrong with me. all my life i've had a 5 day period...now this..it's ruining my life.
had the procedure done 2 weeks ago. I am 56 and still having reg heavy periods. I had had enough. I had it done in the dr's office and yes it hurt a little but only lasted 90 sec. nothing compared to the kidney stones i have had. but I have had constant cramping since the procedure and bleeding just like a period. I have to change pads every 2 hours. I also am so tired. Not sure I thought this is what would happen. I am going to wait few more weeks before giving full opinion.
I have always had irregular periods, sometimes non existent, some lasting forever. This time though, things seem a bit different. I started my period on October 1st, it has been extremely heavy, consistently passing golf ball to fist size clots. Last week, it stopped - wooohooo! Or so I thought. It came back three days ago and it is heaver then ever and EXTREMELY painful. The cramps are about to kill me. I feel very tired and weak and thought I was going to pass out earlier tonight.
This is at age 46 after a lifetime of regular, heavy flow, intensely crampy but predictable periods lasting 5 to 7 days every 28 days, which last year turned into periods lasting 8 to 10 days with extremely heavy flooding. When will there be an end to this madness? It seems like I get about 3 days a month where I feel like my normal self, then it all starts again.
Aside from this, two months ago my period lasted for about 2 weeks, and when I went to the doctor he told me that it was most probably due to stress (school mostly) However, this month my period started normally. I didn't have any heavy bleeding at all and didn't feel any pain (I never do). After the 7th day I thought my period might be extended because of stress, but now it's been almost 3 weeks and I've noticed a lot of clotting.
Sometimes my periods last 3 weeks to 4 weeks out of a month .Is this normal? My periods can be very heavy. Some months I don't get anything at all.My periods have off since my last child was born which has been 10 yrs now.
I've been suffering from painful periods for years, but lately there has been a new development too... first some history... I started my periods age 15. They started out being every 3 weeks, lasting 8-9 days, fairly heavy, and painful. Seeing as I'm small and quite light (back then around 41kg/90lbs), I was put on the contraceptive pill to reduce the frequency and length of my periods. However, the pill didn't change the flow or the amount of pain.
the first week was very light and its usually heavy. the second week has been progressively been getting heavy. My periods are usually irregular. I am sexually active. I do not experience any pains. Its just been over two weeks and going and i am very concerned. I am 19.

Hi. Since we've been TTC, then m/c, now TWW - I've been obsessive with tracking & especially research, reading everything (credible) that I can get my hands on... Ya know I read something the other day that said stress doesn't effect when you get AF. It can delay ovulation but not cause AF to be early or late. It is normal for your cycle length to vary +/- 7 days. An entire week! Stress CAN however affect your flow, causing what they call a "scanty" period.
i started my periods very young, i think i was 9, and mine were like that for a while, id have ot so i was on for like 2 weeks then wouldn't be on the next, then back to normal then really heavy, the doctor ended up putting me on the pill to see if that would help, it kind of did buit ended up getting other symptoms. i've just been given those tablets now as my periods have started to get heavy again, but have found they don't make any difference.
Everything seems to be going good now, heard my baby's heartbeat yesterday and feel it moving everyday, still have 2 weeks to wait for next u/s, and praying that goes well. So, just try not to stress or panic(easier said than done), maybe your bleeding will stop like mine did. Take care, you're in my prayers!
These weird things happen at the start of and during menopause. So are heavy periods that go on 2 weeks or more, and 2-3 months or so without a period. Ovulation gets all messed-up so intervals between periods go wacky. But it's always best to have an obs/gyn referral from your doctor, and get checked out thoroughly so you can rule out any other problem first. (I was a regular visitor to my ob/gyn specialist for a couple of years!! They got sick of seeing me!
For the last ten years I've had extremely painful, heavy periods. I started seeking help in Feb when periods began becoming even more heavy, painful, and irregular and having incredibly bad mood swings.. Pap came back normal. Transvaginal US showed endometrial hyperplasia and a 2cm cyst on left ovary and multiple follicules. Endometrial biopsy was negative. Began apri. Bled consistently for 6 weeks, then 23 days between stop and start, which is fairly common in my cycle.
I switched my birth control prescription because Ortho did not stop the extended bleeding, and began taking Yaz, and switched last year to Loestrin 24 because of the risks associated with Yaz and my periods once again began lasting 2 or more weeks. With Loestrin, I initially did not experience any extra bleeding, but after several months once again began experiencing 2+ week periods. They are not very heavy, but still inconvenient and tiring.
About 8 months ago I started having major heavy bleeding. Perioid lasting 2 weeks. I went to the Dr. 5 days ago and had it taken out, hoping that will help my periods. I was supposed to start my period 3 days ago. I am never late. My husband and I had sex, (no condom or any other kind of BC other than the IUD)a few days before I had it taken out. Does the IUD kill the sperm or just redirect it? Is it possible for the sperm to hang around and then get pregnant after the IUD was taken out?
I have long periods lasting 9 days. I am soo sad and getting very depressed. I just want one more baby, but I can't keep trying if my periods keep getting so bad. I am anemic because of the bleeding, now on iron. The doctor says it might be adenomyosis, he doesn't know for sure. Does anyone have any similar experiences to this? Please help- this is consuming me and maybe just some hope would help. Thankyou in advance!!
I did lose tissue and placenta fluid. My period returned about 3 1/2 weeks later, returning to my normal cycle prior to the pregnancy. In October, I had four abnormal periods, each lasting 3-5 days, about a week apart - over a six week period. They were heavier than usual, had more clotting, did not have the usual lower back pain I experience, etc... In December and January, I have had normal periods, although they are arriving a couple of days early - but that isn't too unusual for me.
She is breastfed, but less often since solids have been introduced. I have just got my first period since her birth and it has lasted three weeks and counting. It is considerably heavier and longer than my 'pre-children' periods. I never got my period after my first child was born before I got pregnant again, so I am not sure if this is normal for me. Is this typical? At what point do I need to be concerned about how long this period is lasting?
Anyways I got my period march 15 it stoped 2 days before the month was up wasnt to heavy, I only had 2 day inbetween before i was on it again the first day of april and I have been on it ever sence. They then told us they could see 1 sack inside the other sack, leading them to believe i was carrying twins, and thier were abnormalaties which caused my body to miscarry them. I bleed heavy for 2 weeks, with a lot of big clots. Worse time of my life. Now 2 weeks after my bleeding stopped, it started again, is just like my miscarriage, what a nightmare.
I had my Novasure ablation recently on April 9, 2008. I'm 52 yrs. old and have always had heavy, long-lasting periods. I was hoping to begin menopause and be done with this, but I had a period the first of 2008 and it just wouldn't end. I was on birth control medicine temporarily before finally having the endometrial ablation done. My dr. did a D&C along with the ablation. All went well and my dr.
I first started having depo injection in June 2002 with my last being in August 2005. Since the end of January I have been having a very heavy period every 2 weeks. My breasts have been very very tender to the point I can't sleep for about a week before my period. Is this normal? Should i go to my doctor?
i started at age 11 and at first it was heavy usually lasting almost 2 weeks with one time lasting almost 2 months nonstop. a few years later my period took a sudden turn and rarely comes usually 2 to 3 times a year. i started taking several different birth control pills to regulate it but it didn't work. it made me depressed plus the weight gain. now recently, i began bleeding nonstop for 3 months, then it'll stop for a few weeks, and then i bled again for over 5 months.
