Common Questions and Answers about Heavy periods flooding

Sounds like you are certain you are done with the babies, and this would be great with all the camping you do. I don't remember if it is a pill form or shot. Maybe ask. Heavy periods are the worst! I remember when I was a kid, my mom would wear two pads, one on bottom and one on back of panties so that she would not leak everywhere and then have to sleep on a towel! She had a hysterectomy when I was 16 and has never been happier!
I am 35 and have had three kids. I have had painful, heavy periods since starting at age 12. After having a breech baby, I ended up with a stage one bladder prolapse. Because of my heavy periods and the prolapse, my doc suggested surgery for the prolapse and a possible hysterectomy when I am closer to the age of 40. He felt I was still to young for a hysterectomy.
This is at age 46 after a lifetime of regular, heavy flow, intensely crampy but predictable periods lasting 5 to 7 days every 28 days, which last year turned into periods lasting 8 to 10 days with extremely heavy flooding. When will there be an end to this madness? It seems like I get about 3 days a month where I feel like my normal self, then it all starts again.
4) the presence of other than small clots for more than one or two days suggests heavy periods. 5) 'flooding' describes the sudden, unexpected onset of periods, like turning on a tap, and indicates heavy periods. Secondly we see side effect in Iron overdose. However heavy period is not reported as a side effect of Iron supplements. I bleed heavy for 3 days then ever since it is just enough to have to wear a panty liner...Also one time there will be no blood, then the next there might be a drop...Can this be normal at menopause?... I just wondered if other women have done this...
For the last 5 or 6 months I've had very irregular cycles. Heavy bleeding with large clots where I'm flooding through into my clothes after 2hrs. This does not happen every period but with the majority of them. I also have recently had spotting several days of the month about a week after my "normal" period. I am in my 20's, not currently sexually active. I've had a recent pelvic exam, pap smear etc.
I have the following symptoms: heavy menstrual periods (flooding), extreme menstrual pain, hiatal hernia, a few years ago my bloodwork showed high iron and high bilirubin. Stomach pain associated with the hiatal hernia and digestion issues. Major leg pain and cramping with periods. I've read a few things that point to iron and heme metabolism issues, menorraghia, anemia, liver disfunction, or endometriosis.
i was having the same problem for 8 or 9 years before i found a gyn that took me seriously my other gyns would tell me some women are more prone to blood clots and pain and longer periods than others i knew something else was going on especially when i was passing grapefruit sized clots on a regular bases and having 20+ day heavy periods my new gyn did an endoscomy and found endometreosis if i were you i would go to a gyn and try convince them to do something productive my gyn told me later that
when i was in my teens i had very clotty heavy periods. even after i had sex, they were still heavy. it wasn't until i had children that they became lighter and not so clotty. but i have PCOS and i must have had it in my teens too and didn't know it. you could just be normal. or there could be something else going on. but you need to see your doc to find out what it could be if it is not normal. i hope it is all ok. hth.
ive been bleeding since i was 10,now imnearly 52 id love to know when this is likely to end.im regular as clockwork and get clots and occasional flooding, some days im almost scared to leave the house, and dont trust my body anymore, for godsake when is this likely to be over?
Anyhow, she stated the obvious in that a hysterectomy is not the preferred method of dealing with my heavy periods due to my J-pouch and adhesions. She offerred me the Mirena IUD which would release a bit of progesterone in my body or an ablation. I am opting for the ablation (and due to a cancellation am booked in for June 1) and love the idea of NO MORE PERIODS!!!! What a great benefit on top of getting rid of the uncomfortableness around the heavy flow and the iron deficiency anemia.
have had a hormone dip or something but its not like my normal period bleed at all - i have always been extremely heavy bleeder usually have at least 4 bouts of flooding per bleed - usually overnight, have to use super tampons every 2hours, with large clots, usually have back & stomach cramps, hot flushes, bloated, nausea & have to take mef acid tablets for the bleeding its that bad. this time i am using regular tampons every 4hours -8 hours.
Over the past 4 months I have gained 10kg (always been thin size 8)I developed terrible off and on nausea/gagging around the same time as the weight gain and started having trouble sleeping, my periods started coming 3 weekly lasting 3 days day two with very heavy flooding (always been 4weekly last 7 days) I also had pain in my left side some days unable to walk, intermittent bowel probs and bloat. Was tested a couple of months ago for thyroid/diabetes, tests were fine.
I have been anemic for at least 10 years. My periods have been prety heavy but then I also hemmoraged 10 yrs ago when my son was born. For the past year I have been getting iron infusions once a week. Every time when iron stores and my hemoglobin is up, I then get my period and all goes down. I've used iron supplements and Bifera to up my numbers when we have stopped the infusions because the numbers are good, but once I get a heavier period all goes back down.

over the past 2 years I have gained 15 pounds despite increased exercise and have had flooding periods lasting 7 to 10 days with large clots the size of raw eggs; and for the past 3 cycles my periods are now coming 18 to 20 days apart with the worst cramping I have ever experienced but thankfully now only lasting 5 days. My emotions range from apathy to jittery anxiety, and I have had dizziness and actual vertigo intermittently for the past 3 months.
I had an ultrasound scan done few weeks ago. Due to heavy periods, pain inbetween periods and some flooding. I recieved a letter from my doctor last Saturday to say that scan had shown a right ovarian cyst and that he had reffered me to gynae clinic at my local hospital, he reffered me as he didnt know weither my symtoms were due to this. I recieved a letter from my doctor again with an appointment to go to gynae clinic on 2rd July enclosed with letter were my ultrascan films.
I have had prolonged periods for years. Mine last 9-12 days. Heavy bleeding with flooding the first 2-4 days, then lighter, then spotting for a few days. Sometimes I spot a few days before the heavy stuff as well. My periods in the past 2 years range from 18 days to 60 days. I have ovarian cysts and fibroids in my uterus....in addition to this I am 43 years old and suspect that all of the changes in my ovaries, uterus and my periods are signs that I am in peri-menopause.
I began having very lengthy periods and heavy flooding that lasted up tp 3 weeks. Before that, my periods were always normal and on time. I was given provera to stop the bleeding and it worked perfectly, as well as made me feel great mood-wise! I have been tested in every way to rule out any conditions or problems that would cause my periods to be so heavy and last for so long. But nothing has resulted from them.
30 p.m., with heavy rainfall causing flooding and traffic jams on are roads and highways. I-43 at Good Hope Road is closed in both directions because of flooding, and U.S. Highway 45 is closed in both directions at Hampton Ave. Streets surrounding the Bradley Center and the U.S. Cellular Arena were under nearly a foot of water at 6:45 p.m. Oakland Ave.
They have been very heavy to and i used to never have clots well today i thought my period was over because the bleeding was gone since yesterday but to my surprise i sat down to use the restroom and blood poured out of me and i passed a clot the size of the palm of your hand! This same thing happend to me not last month but the month before i thought it stopped than i passed one the size of an egg, what is going on can anyone tell me a friend of mine says its premenepause?
Since then I have had 3 heavy periods, with cramping (by heavy I mean flooding, I can barely control it!!) I have had the most normal, light cycles until now. Id never really had cramps but now I do and my emotions are a mess! I have vaginal dryness, heart palpitations, insomnia and the worst unexplained anxiety. :( Every time I google my symptoms premature ovarian failure, perimenapause, and menapause are the primary results of the search. I feel devastated.
Now, that I am in my fourties my start dates or more regular now, starting anywhere from day 21 to day 26. However, my periods usually last for 2 heavy days and almost done on day 3 or 4. My mom went into menopause when she was 42. Perimenopause can last for around 10 yrs. for some women and just a few for others. So who knows, I have no idea if that is what we are going through or not. : ( But it does stand to reason.

The pain ea month is contraction-like in strength, begins in what feels like an ovary and spreads down my back and leg, and is now in its 3rd day. Bleeding has (suddenly) returned to pre-ablation-like amounts (heavy, tho not quite flooding yet, clots) - and it makes no sense to me. How can your uterus shed its lining if it's been burned off???
I am 53 years old and am experiencing a prolonged heavy period that had two days of flooding. I am now into my 4th week with no sign of it stopping and am scared. I have had a vaginal ultrasound done at the beginning of the bleeding and it showed a thickened uterine lining. My estrogen levels are in the 800 range. I have an appointment with a specialist in November for a uterine biopsy to check for abnormal cells.
Typical symptoms Ive had, bloatedness, pain after sex, flooding and clotting on heavy periods, bad breast pain. Extreme tiredness, weight gain. Has anyone had these symptoms and it turned out to be something quite simple?
Can you call the doc's office in the morning and see if it is okay to take Ibuprophen (Advil)...and check on the dosing that would be okay to take (I took three or four Advil, but I am tall and my weight is around 150lb. so, do check on this...don't want you feeling ill from too much of this med). I am no longer having periods, but I recall having some incidents of "flooding" or heavy bleeding, and Ibuprophen would usually slow it down...
Within a few months of this I stopped having periods altogether. I started my periods at age 8. I figured between being so young and the deep coning I went through, early menopause. % years ago I developed breast cancer, estrogen sensitive. I do not take hormones, so now at age 51 I have started leaking blood tinged fluid with an unpleseant odor. Where do I go from here? My stomach is always distended and have urinary urges and low, low back pain. I am concerned.
