Common Questions and Answers about Heavy period during menopause

period

Avatar n tn the first week it was light now it is so heavy with blood clogs. Is this normal or is this the start of menopause. I will be 46 this June. Please help!!
Avatar f tn d say your period is the victim of hormonal changes. Heavier bleeding when on a period is common or menopause AND spotting like you describe also can happen. Talk to your doctor next time you see them. Mine says my few days of heavy bleeding are normal even though I went through 40 plus years of a different type of period preceding it.
Avatar f tn My mom is 53 years old and gets her period but it comes extremely heavy that she has to change her clothes often. She gets her period not every month but now and then ....im worried because she shouldnt be getting her period anymore what can be the cause of her heavy bleeding? ....her stomach also grows big and feels hard please help I dont know what to do for her anymore ...
Avatar f tn The other day I noticed a very light pink tinge on the paper after a pee, this usually indicates my period is coming. I had sex with my husband and there was blood all over him and I right after so I thought I got my period. I wore a pad that day and there was no more blood. According to the calendar I'm technically not due for my period for another few days. The sex was not rough in case you're wondering. Has this happened to anyone and any idea what could have happened?
Avatar n tn I am 48 and am pretty sure I am going thru menopause I have been having a period for over a week now and am bleeding really heavy and lost a lot of blood and I am real weak and kinda scared if I go to the er is there anything they can do or should I even go
Avatar n tn The erratic nature of periods during perimenopause wouldn't concern me, but the heavy flow/clotting is not normal for me, so that would spur me to call my doctor. Did you check in with your doc?
Avatar f tn I usually have a normal 5 day medium/heavy flowing period. But this past cycle it was flowing for two days without any clots, and then it stopped completely for almost a full day. I started spotting very lightly for the next couple of days. I took two pregnancy test as soon as it stopped and they both said negative. I haven't changed my diet or anything like that! Anyone have an explanation?
552580 tn?1296478693 You could pick up some natural progesterone creme at the health food store. It made all the difference in the world for me.
Avatar f tn Is your cycle still regular? I know during my time of going through menopause, I was regular but my gosh, my cycles were so heavy. I guess that is not uncommon. The first few days of my period were rough. I did have hormonal changes that included lots of breast tenderness when pregnant AND during the menopause years as hormones were shifting. If your period is at all regular, can you test when you get to the 2.5 week point past when it's due?
Avatar m tn These weird things happen at the start of and during menopause. So are heavy periods that go on 2 weeks or more, and 2-3 months or so without a period. Ovulation gets all messed-up so intervals between periods go wacky. But it's always best to have an obs/gyn referral from your doctor, and get checked out thoroughly so you can rule out any other problem first. (I was a regular visitor to my ob/gyn specialist for a couple of years!! They got sick of seeing me!
Avatar f tn I have friends say that it might be early menopause, something that justs happens sometimes during periods or even cancer. I dont know what to think or believe. Can you help me understand what this is?
Avatar m tn Are you saying that during her menstrual period, she does not have a very heavy flow at all, just some cramping? She could be in the beginnings of menopause. (It can take a woman 10 years to go through menopause, maybe this is the start.) But I would suggest she check with a doctor because 42 is a little young for that, possibly she has hyperplasia or a hormonal imbalance going on.
Avatar f tn They have been very heavy to and i used to never have clots well today i thought my period was over because the bleeding was gone since yesterday but to my surprise i sat down to use the restroom and blood poured out of me and i passed a clot the size of the palm of your hand! This same thing happend to me not last month but the month before i thought it stopped than i passed one the size of an egg, what is going on can anyone tell me a friend of mine says its premenepause?
1273473 tn?1270775840 well Im only 32 so I hope I dont start menopause yet!! I did however start my period early and it was quite heavy and lasted for almost 2wks!!!
Avatar f tn In January of 2016 just 2 months after having the blood test, I had a period that was very heavy. I then had another period in March that was normal. Now it has stopped again. My OBGYN is insisting I have an ultrasound and biopsy. I feel this is a bit much considering I never went a full year without a period. How accurate are the FSH tests? I still feel premenopausal. I am moody, tired, bloated, tired, and all of the symptoms that go along with being premenopausal.
Avatar f tn Break through bleeding??
Avatar n tn m very sorry that u experiencing this, I had a heavy period this month with some big block of clots but with no signs of pain or discomfort expert when the clots come out. went to the doctor and he said this may be because of stress and going through different emotions which indeed it was. he gave me some medicine and pain killer and now in same month my period was due which come one day before its due. it got heavy first day but the nxt day it was light very light with small clots.
198506 tn?1251156915 Prior to that I had a period about 6 times a year if that. During my last period the clotting had me a little frightened as they were so large and numerous. Plus I had lower back pain as if I had a fist inside of me pushing to get out. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn I am a little shocked that noone else responded to this post, I have been reading about peri menopause and finding out that irregular periods are normal during this time. I am on day 10 of my period which is hard for me to cope with. I still keep worrying that its something abnormal. I wish that society talked more about peri.......menopause. I thought that your periods slowed down during this time, not got longer...
Avatar f tn t sound like a super heavy period. It actually is what I think is a pretty common patter, starting out slow, then a day of heavier bleeding and clots and then slowing down over the next few days. To put it into perspective for you, as I've gotten older, I've gotten a heavier cycle . . . I can fill a tampon/pad in less than 2 hours on a heavy day. And sometimes much less time with leakage. I also have that membrane thing during periods.
Avatar n tn The reason I placed a IUD was because of heavy bleeding and the frequency of period which came every 20-15 days. I did a Follicle Stimulating Hormone test and it shows I have 64.8 mIU/mL. If I am on Menopause, should I removed the IUD? I know the IUD is a hormonal IUD, so it does provide me some amount of progestin. I am not sure if this effect the FSH test.
Avatar m tn From what I know and have read about menopause, if you are completely over menopause than you cannot become pregnant, because you do not ovulate and you do not have a period anymore. However, if you are in perimenopause you absolutely can become pregnant, because you are still ovulating and getting a period, even though your periods may be very irregular. If you have not had a period in 2yrs, my guess would be the likelihood of becoming pregnant would not happen.
Avatar f tn so glad I found this site. my journey began in 2010 when I started having very heavy periods this went on for over a year when I went to my family dr. he asked me if I was anemic I told him I didn't think so but was very tired. he checked my blood and found that I was. had to have other testing done to roll out other issues. after that I was sent to my ob-gyn which did a biopy which was ok then put me on depo shots for two years to get me to menopause.
Avatar n tn Yes, age 51 or 52 is the average age of menopause in the U.S.
Avatar f tn I have been bleeding for over 3 weeks, extremely heavy with clots, and very bad cramps. I am 47 years old I realize it is menopause, but when should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn s also quite popular to find fibroids and attribute any heavy bleeding to them. But heavy periods in perimenopause are not as nearly as attributable to fibroids as some sources indicate - at least 50% of women get fibroids after 30-ish - and most are actually asymptomatic- (only certain types of fibroids actually bleed) and begin to shrink as menopause gets nearer.
Avatar f tn Each lasted for two weeks long and were heavy and very watery. I bled twice in August. And just had a period from August 30th to Sep 5th which was very heavy and watery. So far I have had no more bleeding this month....yet. on top of the frequent periods my other symptoms are insomnia, fatigue from lack of sleep, mood swings, irritability, vaginal dryness, dry skin, hair shedding, frequent bathroom trips and I'm not pregnant, NO sex drive whatsoever.....
Avatar n tn Hello maybe you can help me out my question is that it has been 4 month since I got my period and I thought I was pregnant but I have check my self and its always negative and I thought its just I am staring to have symptoms of menopause so help me out.............
