heavy bleeding between periods medical questions

I am 19 and i need a little help. Im not sure what this little bit of bleeding is and what it means.....Implantation bleeding? Ovulation bleeding? Cysts? Im confused. I usually get my period at the end of every month lasting until the beginning of the new month. My last period started the 18th of Dec. 2010 (which is werid because that is the middle of the month) with unbearable cramps and heavy breathing that usually do not occur, but went on like a normal period but just slightly heavier.

I also for almost 2 years now have had really weird menstrual periods( very very heavy one month and very little another month) most of the time they are heavy. also during this time i have been having back pain and abdominal pain. It comes and goes, sometimes with pain and sometimes without. For the past 2 days I have been haveing quite a lot red and brown blood when i wipe or just in my panties. Anyone has any clue?

I am 53 years old. I have always had heavy periods, but lately my periods have lasted a long time, sometimes two weeks or more, and they become very heavy with lots of clotting. I have to wear two super plus tampons at a time and a pantiliner because they always leak. I hate it! What should I do? What can be done to make this more tolerable or stop altogether?

I had very heavy periods, all the sudden they stopped to very light, I'm 47 should I be concerned

It started out as occasional spotting between periods and has progressed to feeling bloated, more frequent bleeding between periods, bleeding after intercourse every time, and cramping after intercourse. My periods are heavy and irregular - one month it will be 12 days in length, the next 2 days in length. I've had 3 OB/GYN's who have suggested a partial hysterectomy (leaving the ovaries). They suspect fibroids as the cause because of an ultrasound I had.

Unfortunately, I have no advice but to make an appointment with a gynecologist. Tell the doctor exactly what is happening: 10-14 days of extremely heavy bleeding with only 14-17 days between. Tell her you've tried birth control (have a list of the types and how long each worked). She'll run some tests from blood work to potentially an ultrasound. You may try a free clinic or Planned Parenthood to see what they can offer you.

I had the Paragard IUD placed in October 2013 and since then I have had 7 to 9 day extremely heavy (ultra tampons every two hours) periods every three weeks. Prior to having the Paragard, I was on the LoLoestrin pill for three months (which made me emotionally crazy) and prior to that I had the Mirena IUD (I had no periods for 18 months, but horrific acne and pregnancy symptoms constantly). I rarely hear of women having heavy periods with PCOS. Is this abnormal?

I would also ask you a few more questions, like is this common for you to have irregular periods, and how old you are. Irregular bleeding is usually caused by failure to ovulate regularly which can be caused by many things: stress, weight changes, PCOS, polyps, peri-menopause, to name a few. Give your doctor a call to get this all sorted out. Its UNLIKELY to be serious, but should be sorted out. Good luck!

Spotting between periods could be caused by uterine polyps. You should ask your gyno to do an ultrasound to rule that out before you get the IUD. The IUD helps for bleeding but only if your uterus is clear of polyps and/or fibroids. Otherwise you'll still have bleeding issues anyway even with the IUD.

I'm 21 and have been experiencing bleeding and mild cramping between periods. It lasts for days at a time, is a dark rusty red in colour with occasional small blood clots, and is not consistent with a certain time in my cycle (e.g. sometimes occurs days before ovulation, sometimes after). It is heavier than the light, brown spotting I have experienced between periods in the past, but not as heavy as a period.

The nurse practitioner said the doctor agreed that it would have to be removed by surgery. I do not have heavy bleeding during my periods but have noticed bloating, shortness of breath and pain in the pelvic area the last two months. I am meeting with the doctor again on Friday.
