Avatar n tn they can not figure out what brought on this stroke! he was over heated, dehydrated, said it could have been a heat stroke but it was in oct 2007 not a hot month.I have had him in and out of doctors offices and still at a dead end.he has developed a few nose bleeds these past two days. should i be concerned?and what should i look for other than passing out spells and numbness. he turns pale out of nowhere.
Avatar n tn I have heard that once a person has had a heat stroke, they can not tolerate the heat anymore. It seems to do something to our body's chemistry. I have not had a heat stroke, but, I am extremely heat intolerant. I am always hot, and I must be in the A/C or I get short of breath, PVC's and feel horrible. I am even hot in the winter. One thing besides heat stroke that can cause heat intolerance is an over-active thyroid and also a lack of natural progesterone.
Avatar f tn If a massive stroke victim is about 42yrs old and his doctor is not sure what caused the stroke (all test done and all are normal). Does he still need to be on medication and back for routine checkup? How effective would the medication and check up to prevent the 2nd stoke?
Avatar n tn But let me tell you something about hemorrhagic stroke. This kind of stroke is almost of the worst types because of its life threatening conditions. But as a physical therapist, I never give up, and the one who know better about your nephew's condition is his physician. Also, there is so much we can do as health care team/physical therapist and you as a family (talk to your physical therapist and discuss that with him, he should know).
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar n tn does anyone know what it means when a stroke victim has tingling and numbness in the back of the head

Avatar f tn So I have a decade of undiagnosed hives under my belt now. The only thing I ever get is an I Don't Know from every doctor I see. Now I am living with my face in constant swelling mode. I look like a stroke victim, and can't even look in the mirror is there any new studies or findings that can help me?.
Avatar n tn Yes a person can get a stroke from too much Morphine...I am a R.N. and work with stroke victims , Look up water shed strokes...
Avatar f tn Its fine to go swimming, however I highly doubt you had heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and you would need to be hospitalized. What you are probably referring to is heat exhaustion.
Avatar m tn My nearly 84 year old mother suffered a "major" stroke 2 days ago. She has not opened her eyes, though she shows signs of awareness and can follow directions when asked. She is sleeping allot. Initially she lost movement on her left side, but it very slowly seems to be coming back. She is saying words, though they are hard to understand. She is receiving IV fluids. The doctor said they would give her another day and see if she "wakes up".
Avatar f tn I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times. I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index). In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to.
