Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
1503777 tn?1289497132 the causes could be injury causing persistent muscle spasm as a protective mechanism, vigorous use of muscles following activity, rest cramps but your husband doesnot have these at rest, dehydration causes true cramps in hot weather and can be an early sign of heat stroke, loss of sodium, cirrhosis of liver where you have unusual fluid distribution due to ascites.
Avatar n tn After a couple of days in the hospital, the result was the discovery of the previously undetected stroke and a recommended rehabilitation plan to that of a stroke. The key to me is that heat exhaustion triggered this lapse or acute stage of confusion and short term memory loss. My dad is under the care of a cognitive therapist and is scheduled to meet with a neuropsychologist later in September. Did your neuropsychologist consider the stroke/heat exhaustion connection?
529159 tn?1224991026 I get these muscle cramps, but in my arms. I know exactly what you mean and how excruicating it is!!! I literally will take my knuckles and dig into my arms. I know it sounds nuts and my husband looks at me like I am, but it is the only thing that helps, although technically, it really doesn't. Those are the days the pain meds are maxed out! I have also had my electrolite levels all checked and they were -surprise- normal.
Avatar n tn Do you have any idea what is going on? I had blood work done in June. I had a heat stroke. The quacky doctor said I was ok, and gave me MORPHINE, sent me home, No I.V. Liquids were given, Just Pain medicine? I thought that when you have a heat exhaustion or stroke from heat that you are dehydrated, Pain Meds? I really have not felt right since, but this other stuff started a few weeks ago. Let me know what you think, maybe I will find some direction from that.
Avatar f tn Sounds like possible heat stroke/exhaustion . I know that some doctors don't like for you to "self diagnose" but it's worth mentioning. ERs are for emergencies and although a heat stroke is a true emergency, you waking up and passing out wouldn't give them the idea that it was heat stroke/exhaustion unless you forfeited the happenings of the prior day.
Avatar f tn Are muscle cramps/spasms that appear out of the blue (doing literally NOTHING) across your thoracic (I think I spelled that wrong) region an MS symptom? Or just tough luck? I have a huge spasm across my back, over my ribs, which started this morning, when i was just sitting in a chair drinking coffee.
Avatar m tn I was walking in the sun for about two hours the weather was very hot it was 45 c i think, suddenly i felt like my heart is racing so fast with PVCs or skipped beats and i was sweating and very fatigued i went to a cool place where i drunk lots of fluids and it all went back to normal(but PVCs lasted for a week then it went away), was it Afib or just heat exhaustion? i want to a cardiologist and he said my heart muscle is fine, i run every day for 6 km, should i be concerned?
1412929 tn?1281756606 what causes muscle spasms or cramps in the upper part of your body that occurs on the inside like its your organs like up by ribcage, lungs, and breast that last anywhere from 1 to 5 minutes and makes it where u can be incertain positions or if you stand to try to relieve them and it doesn't even help, its just this nagging awful pain you wouldn't wish on anyone.
Avatar n tn d pulled the muscle off the bone, between my writst and elbow. If i tried to use it, the muscle just burned white hot and when i wasn't using it, it just flopped like it was hanging there by the skin. I did it to the other arm a few months later lol. Today i think it was too odd for it not to be related to all my other odd muscle issues, but i may never really know.
317217 tn?1456286778 Magnesium oil rubbed onto the skin helps with cramps and aches generally. Maybe its something you can try?
Avatar n tn I have heard that once a person has had a heat stroke, they can not tolerate the heat anymore. It seems to do something to our body's chemistry. I have not had a heat stroke, but, I am extremely heat intolerant. I am always hot, and I must be in the A/C or I get short of breath, PVC's and feel horrible. I am even hot in the winter. One thing besides heat stroke that can cause heat intolerance is an over-active thyroid and also a lack of natural progesterone.
Avatar n tn ok so I am a 15 going on 16 year old and my cramps have been so severe for my last 4 periods. They wake me up at night and if I don't take 3 Advil (doctor prescribed) every 4 hours than I am in pain for the rest of the day. does any one have any advice ? I've tried all different kinds of methods and have two heat pads and nothing is helping. thank you so much for the help!
Avatar n tn is there ANYTHING at all I can do to relieve the muscle cramps until they find my true illness? Neurologists, rheumatolists (at Uchicago or Mayo Clinic cant find any other cause for my cramping). In hypothyroid should I have had light cramping all over my body to start, or is it common to start in the legs and then later on spread to the arms, back etc? I have hd cold intolerance for 6 years but just this past year heat became even worse. Is heat intolerance possible for hypothyroid?
2000542 tn?1327419650 all of which who had theses diseases are deceased. My left arm goes numb at least once a day and I have muscle cramps in my left arm and leg quite often. I also have had to blackouts, one resulted in me stopping breathing, lips turned purple/blue and my blood levels were off the charts saying I had a heat stroke. It does hurt when I breath especially when I was laying down and I do out of breath when doing extrenious activity. Just recently I have developed a dry cough.
Avatar m tn you need to get an MRI lumbar spine to consider the paresthesiae in the lower limbs. Muscle cramps can be due to simple causes like muscle fatigue, heavy exercise, dehydration, hypothyroidism, hypomagnesemia and hypocalcemia, side effectsof drugs like diuretics, caffeine. muscle cramps are cause by more serious neurological causes like motor neuron disease, muscle diseases, denerevation usually accompanied by weakness and atrophy of the affected muscle group etc.
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar n tn Treatment includes injecting local anesthetics and other medicines, moist heat muscle relaxants and NSAIDs along with physiotherapy. Multiple sclerosis would also need to be excluded. Treatment for migraines include drugs that prevent the attack like anti convulsants and drugs which treat an attack like triptans, ergots etc your queries should pertain to all these possible differential diagnoses. Trigeminal neuralgia needs to be considered.
Avatar f tn Feels a lot like a ripped of pulled muscle, although have done nothing physical at all today. Hurts when i move and kind of cause cramp like pains. Should I be worried??
