Avatar f tn It sounds like you are getting dehydrated and almost a heat stroke. Try to keep very hydrated and don't stay in the car long without AC. Bring water and a wet wash cloth to keep cool. You may want to get your blood electrolytes take (sodium , potassium, chloride and CO2) to see if you have a imbalance of these. You can also drink gatoraide and a banana to try to increase your potassium.
1904989 tn?1321776648 i horrible, tearful excruciating pain in my inner thighs that i am forced to jump out of bed and i cant lay back down or sit and especially hurts so much i cry and scream with pain every night what is it and what do i do
Avatar m tn Truly, there are no doctors on this site. The fact you didn't pass out means it was probably not heat stroke, as you'd have likely ended up in the hospital when some passerby found you lying face down. The continued feeling of skipped beats could be skipped beats or just feeling like you're having skipped beats. But only a doctor's exam will tell you if something happened.

Avatar f tn Is it bad to be in the heat. I feel like crap and I wamma get sick and soo thirsty. I have to work on the weekends and its like 100 hundred degrees ): any suggestions?
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar f tn I had a severe heat stroke when I was 16 yrs.old. I can tell you what to expect, and how to handle it. I almost died from mine and since then I have never been the same. It did something to my immune system. If someone near me gets a cold, I get it four times worse than they do. I've almost died from the flu before too. I too get hot easily and my head starts to pound when I've been in the heat too long.
Avatar f tn I am 29. Car accident in 2000. In 2007 herniated my L5-S1. I now have severe pain ticking from the waist down. In the summer 2008 I started feeling like my ankle was coming out of joint (it still does) and I had severe "charlie horses" (i still get these, but both legs, now). I had a CT scan the verified a mass in my cuboid bone. In August 2008 I had a 3-phase bone scan that revealed nothing.
Avatar f tn , giving her a powdered medicine he gave us, trying to keep her cool in the (Arizona) heat, bluing in her water (these old cowboy remedies make the hair rise on the back of my neck sometimes). Within a couple of days, her temp was normal and she was essentially recovered. That was a week ago, and she is at 4-H camp with my daughter now. This is my new worry: After the cold symptoms, one side of her udder swelled (she has had heat cycles, but no pregnancies). It wasn't tender.
144586 tn?1284666164 under no circumstances I have ever had to blanketed my horses even in the coldest cold spells here in Alaska but at the same time we do not work are horses out during this time of year, blanketing them dose tent to make them lose there ability to keep there own heat in with there winter coat and I know that the winters there do in no way get as cold as we get up north.
1204073 tn?1265628271 I had the job of baby-sitting my neighbors 4 horses and 2 golden retrievers for the weekend. everything went well or so I thought. the day they left they had fed their dogs and I was to feed them sat. night and theyd be back on sunday to feed them. pretty easy huh? NOT! let me go back a little. they have 4 dogs. 2 of them are 12 yrs old and have been together since they were 6 wks old.
Avatar m tn I have called around a lot - $600 just seems to be the average rate in our area. I'm in Canada, in a mid-sized farming community where the vets also look after horses, cattle, etc. Maybe that's what makes the difference. The SPCA here is the Humane Society - and I guess the reason it takes 6 months or more for them to call back is because their spay/neuter fee is so reasonable compared to what all the local vets are charging.
Avatar f tn Its fine to go swimming, however I highly doubt you had heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and you would need to be hospitalized. What you are probably referring to is heat exhaustion.
Avatar f tn ve always been told stretching your legs before bed is supposed to help. I get really horrible Charlie horses in the morning unless I go for a walk the night before.
Avatar f tn I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times. I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index). In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to.
Avatar f tn No heat wave this year but last year it was horrible, and its very dangerous to get a heat stroke, but in Montreal they have a heat wave and humidity its horrible, and that his not a good combination for me because Im allergic to water and my own sweet so I can't do anything :(
Avatar n tn After a couple of days in the hospital, the result was the discovery of the previously undetected stroke and a recommended rehabilitation plan to that of a stroke. The key to me is that heat exhaustion triggered this lapse or acute stage of confusion and short term memory loss. My dad is under the care of a cognitive therapist and is scheduled to meet with a neuropsychologist later in September. Did your neuropsychologist consider the stroke/heat exhaustion connection?
Avatar f tn The other neurological disorder that makes symptoms worsen with heat is Mitochondrial disease. Heat plays havoc with the symptoms to the point of having heat stroke. I have to live in the air-conditioning during the summer time, which is why I love the winter so much.
Avatar n tn Does it work for Charley horses in the stomach? I get horrible Charley horses in my stomach ever since I had my surgery. My husband says he gets them because of dehydration, but I know that this is not the case for me. Ever since my surgery I drink 8-10 glasses of water a day. A never drink anything carbonated, 1 cup of coffee a day, but I do have to take Miralax every other day.
Avatar f tn ve been thrown and drug by several horses. Stepped on and cracked a rib. In about the last 6-8 months almost every time I move my back the right way it pops. If I sit up straight it cracks and pops and it relieves the constant pain for a few seconds then it's back. Trying to get to the doctor but it can get extremely painful at times. It gets so bad that it will knock the wind out of me when I move the right way sometimes. Any advice?? Help!!
Avatar m tn Hi there. The symptoms of dizziness or hypotension, bradycardia and shortness of breath do not make you more prone for a heat stroke. Though you may have dehydration due to heat stroke which can cause dizziness. You need a cardiac assessment for conditions like heart blocks where the heart rate is decreased causing hypotension as a result. Anemia could also be a cause for dizziness and shortness of breath on walking but there should be accompanying tachycardia in that case.
377493 tn?1356502149 I have a very fair skinned/fair haired 17 month old and want to make sure I am taking the appropriate steps to prevent heat stroke, sun stroke, etc. I know the obvious ones...sun screen, I always put a hat on him (which, to be honest, he promptly takes off..lol), always always have lots of water and continuously offer it and keep him in the shade as much as possible. He loves to be outdoors and we spend as much time as possible doing outdoor activities and playing outside.
82861 tn?1333453911 Heat stroke can strike very quickly and with no real warning unless you know what to look for. If the National Weather Service issues a heat advisory, heat watch or heat warning, treat your pets the same way you would treat yourself and stay inside with the air conditioner. Limit outdoor time and keep activity to a minimum, particularly in the afternoon hours. Be cool!
Avatar f tn It could be related to your pregnancy. Lots of people get funny pains and charly horses in their calves, and we think its related to electrolytes. I usually advise: extra calcium and extra potassium, lots of fluid, massage and regular gentle exercise. If all that doesn't help you can try heat or ice or Tylenol. It does go away after baby is born! Congratulations!
