Avatar f tn Hi, my cat has the similar problem. She was in "heat". You can see my post. Hope she is not having an infection. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Cats/My-cat-gliding-on-the-floor/show/1239384?
Avatar n tn hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), hypertension (high blood pressure), seizure activity, heart problems are all symptoms of stroke in cats.
1488781 tn?1301479298 There is no advantage to having her in heat before spaying. It is frustrating for her and for you. Kittens can be spayed as early as 2-3 months old. There are some advantages and disadvantages of doing it that young. Because young kittens have a high metabolic rate, they are better able to tolerate anesthesia and eliminate it from their systems more quickly as well as scar healing, since the incision and parts removed are so small.
Avatar n tn I have heard that once a person has had a heat stroke, they can not tolerate the heat anymore. It seems to do something to our body's chemistry. I have not had a heat stroke, but, I am extremely heat intolerant. I am always hot, and I must be in the A/C or I get short of breath, PVC's and feel horrible. I am even hot in the winter. One thing besides heat stroke that can cause heat intolerance is an over-active thyroid and also a lack of natural progesterone.
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar n tn Chinchilla's ears are very important to their thermoregulation. Since chinchilla's normal environment are the mountains of South America, they are resistant to cold and very susceptible to heat related issues, such as heat stroke. The chinchilla's ears function to expel excess body heat to keep the chinchilla cool.
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar f tn hi...I'm sure you'll get other opinions, I've always thought the kitten stage is over abt the 7-8month stage, thats usually when food manufactures urge a switch to adult food...also unaltered females can go into heat and reproduced at this 'young' age!! yes still babies..
Avatar n tn seems like my cats in pain when she comes in heat, she looks like a rabbit when she props herself, and every touch she acts like that, sometimes when she's touched i wonder if it feels to her like a thousand needles tips....but this last time she was in heat it seems like its wearing her out..she looks like she hasn't slept...and starting to act as if shes out of it..she EVEN act as if she like my energetic grandsons (1,4, &7) lol...
1729448 tn?1342094737 My cat was in heat for over a week even though i gave her a bath she wouldn't stop. i guess the day i left(or a couple after) she stopped, i was gone for a week and the day i came home she went back into heat, and i've been home 3-4 days(since saturday, its tuesday..well technically wednesday now, it's 12:36am). what can i do? she wont stop her meowing really loud and it's driving us crazy now. is there anything else that will work to make her stop?

1232362 tn?1333135406 LOL my aunt tells me that this is the cats' place and we (me and my husband) are guests and lucky to be allowed in the house LOL
Avatar f tn I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times. I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index). In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to.
Avatar f tn He only does it when we are sleeping, and it makes for a very unpleasant alarm clock! All the cats sleep on the bed at night (if it takes their fancy) but he is quite possessive of me, if another cat gets close to my head or wants attention he will block my face from them, although he has no problem with them getting attention.
Avatar f tn He is acting like he is in Heat. He is yelling like he used to do when he was in heat, wanting outside really bad (not for grass either...he actually broke out the basement window and got out the other day - we have it boarded up now and he is not allowed down there). He is also spraying!!!! He was at the Vet's Office not long ago and was in good condition...no signs of anything being wrong (by exam and blood work - check up). However, this just began over the weekend. It is very strange.
Avatar f tn When we had Miss Cerridwen Blythe (12/1983 - 04/2000) spayed, the vet told us it would take a month for all the hormones from her "heat" to clear out. We rescued her during a very cold January week in 1987. She went into heat a few days before the appointment we had to have her spayed. She had had an initial checkup when we took her in, before introducing her to our other kitties. She was such a sweet cat that they took to her right away.
Avatar f tn Its fine to go swimming, however I highly doubt you had heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and you would need to be hospitalized. What you are probably referring to is heat exhaustion.
Avatar m tn after doing so i did a little more research and read up that mineral oil is bad for cats..especially if they inhale it...and what worries me is i noticed all 4 of my cats cleaning their ears with their paws and licking it...now i'm worried if they could be harmed by this? they also sleep with me at night..so i'm a little worried if i could've inhaled any of it as well..
Avatar f tn That's not it at all, its called that cus when the baby is sleeping its creating ALOT of heat at cats love heat so they curl up on there face where it's nice and warm and suffocate them hens" stealing a babies breath". The baby is to younger to move its head. As ling as if you keep the cats or cat out of the babies room or around where they sleep your baby will be fine.
1305767 tn?1361192676 I have two girl cats and I already KNOW I need to get them spayed. They are only a year old and have only had two heat cycles. When my husband and I got them I was working but now he is the only one working so it's very difficult to set back $100 to spay both of them. Anyway when Sissy is in heat it's not so bad. It's pretty mild and she spends a lot of it laying by herself out of the way. Hootie though is freaking relentless!
