Avatar m tn My husband suffered heat exhaustion a few days ago. He ran a fever of 101 all night w/ sweating off and on. Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness.
Avatar m tn its now three weeks but the symptoms persists....
Avatar f tn Dogs can get heat exhaustion and heat stroke just like people, and heat stroke can be fatal without immediate medical support. It's so easy to forget proper hydration and cooling during the beginning of the summer months. I'm guilty of that myself. Living in a sub-tropical region and being sensitive to heat, I have to force water and Gatorade down my throat regularly if I'm outside.
Avatar f tn I've been to the doctor many times. He has run blood tests and done check ups and says everything is fine and can't find anything. He thinks it's just my anextiety. I don't think it is. I am a 32 yr old male.
2030769 tn?1343647674 thank u. I already talked to the vet. My akita seems normal now but the vet advised me to keep an eye on him and bring him in right away if anything changes. He was out on the balcony earlier, in the shade & was able to come in & out of the house as he wanted. I think what happened was he fell asleep and the heat got to him and when he woke up & stood up, he fell completely over on his side.
1296191 tn?1280699873 Damage to the hypothalamus can occur from a brain infection (meningitis or encephalitis), or a poisoning. When the weather turns warmer, there is a danger of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. During heat stroke, the body loses the ability to cool itself and control body temperature, and brain damage can result. It is very important to remain well hydrated and cool during extreme temperatures. Another major concern for parents are febrile seizures (convulsions).
Avatar f tn Keep yourself hydrated and wear sunscreen , I'm 14 weeks and I go out and tan in my back yard lol
531005 tn?1286515532 ve been reading up on heat stroke and it says medical attention should be sought. But even until now as I write this and ask him, he says, "I'm 100% fine, and don't want to go." I'm scared, and don't know what to do. Maybe I'm still "freaking out" cause of the slushy. What to do?
Avatar m tn i was running in the sun for 3 hours and it was very hot suddenly i felt like my heart is beating rapidly and skipping beats and i was sweating and fatigued i stopped in a shady place for sometime and it all went back to normal, but the skipped beats kept happening to me afterwards for about a week, was it exhaustion or stroke?
Avatar n tn I began to continue playing the next day and in our second game I started feeling sick again. I ended up having heat stroke and passing out and being taken to the hospital by ambulance. My problem is that ever since then I have had problems with heat intolerance. As soon as it starts to get warm outside, I become extremely uncomfortable and suffer from weakness, headaches, dizziness, and sometimes vomiting.

Avatar f tn i would play soccer 3 to 4 times a week in al kinds of weather especially in the heat since i am in Texas. Now if i am in the heat for any longer than 5 minutes i feel shaky and weak. Hard to describe. Basically if its not under 70 degrees i feel like i am gonna have a heat stroke. This goes along with a ton of other things i have been feeling.
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar f tn as if he was in the high temps we have here,he may be dehydrated and have some minor heat stroke. So lots of fluids, pedialite ..You are doing the right thing, is he passing urine okay his diaper wet and as normal?

Avatar n tn Hello, Since you have anhidrosis, excessive exercise can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To prevent this, avoid excessive exercise, exercise in cooler climate, drink plenty of water, wear appropriate clothing and avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol as these liquids are dehydrating. Also get an evaluation done from a physician and check out the possible cause of anhidrosis.

Avatar m tn It probably was just the heat, especially if you followed up with a cardiologist and everything checked out. Keep hydrated with plenty of water and if this happens again, head back to the doctor to check again.
Avatar f tn July of 2010, I had a bad and assume heat stroke. I was sitting outside watching a game of softball. I had drunk a bottle of water before I went and had a bottle of gatorade while I was there. All of a sudden, I didn't feel good at all. I told my friend I had to leave. She looked at me and said I was beat red. By the time I got back to my truck, I was very dizzy and starting to blackout. My friend said I was walking like I was drunk.
Avatar f tn CPS results from damage to an area of the brain called the thalamus, which is involved with sensory perception and movement. The pain is a mixture of sensations, including heat and cold, burning, tingling, numbness, and sharp stabbing and underlying aching pain. It is intense in the area affected by the stroke, such as the face, extremities or trunk on one side, and is made worse by movement and temperature changes, especially cold temperatures." https://www.ninds.nih.
Avatar f tn Its fine to go swimming, however I highly doubt you had heat stroke. Heat stroke is a medical emergency and you would need to be hospitalized. What you are probably referring to is heat exhaustion.
583167 tn?1218308101 me too. The heat is more than I can handle I live in Canada and I have both extremes of weather but the heat does me in completely I sleep with my window open in the winter. I ride public transportation and the heat is terrible I look at other passengers and think can't you feel this were all gonna die of heat stroke! But when I open a window they look at me like I'm nuts! But it's not them of course it's me.
12773 tn?1328913186 Could be heat stroke. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/first-aid-heatstroke/FA00019 Not sure if being in a pool for 2.5 hours in the sun is a good idea if you're on treatment. Probably should call your doc if still have symptons.
Avatar f tn I'm in limboland, but I've always been heat sensitive. I had heat stroke when I was younger and have had or been on the edge of heat exhaustion quite a few times. I strongly dislike summer due to the heat. I'm in upstate NY and our summer isn't horrible, but we tend to be humid. And, I can count on at least 2 weeks worth of 90+ heat (over 100 with the heat index). In the last year, when I'm overheated it seems worse then it used to.
Avatar f tn I went out with my mom yesterday and ended up feeling as though I had heat stroke. I couldnt have though, seeings as I was hardly outside. I felt overheated, nautious and dizzy even. I am not sure what it was, but out of it nails it on the head. I have been sleeping horribly so maybe that had a part in it. Not sure. I went to bed at midnight though and besides the normal waking up a fee times to pee, slept off and on until 2:30 this afternoon.
