Avatar f tn I have had a history of sun poision on my shoulders and chest, not on the places that I seem to being getting a rash from now. Is it possible that I am having a reaction to the cleaners or that I am getting sun poision now on my stomach? I know that I probably should stop tanning but I really dont want to. Any suggestions on what it could be from?
1025521 tn?1252507728 I am an RN, and I am not sure why you have a rash, but for your own safety, stay away from the tanning beds! There is a huge increase in the number of skin cancer cases from young women using tanning beds, and it just isn't worth it. Get a spray on tan; a lot of places are offering those now. I hope all works out for you.
Avatar f tn The effects of the deep over all heat from the tanning lights last throughout most of day. It is wonderful. I know people say tanning is bad...but when you suffer every day w/ no relief the benefits outweigh the risks. I do 3x a week for 10-20 minutes. I am 58 years old. Just thought I would share this treatment if it can help anyone else.
Avatar m tn t breathe which caused the heat rash. If one is burned from the sun or from a tanning bed then the skin tightens up and forms a layer of skin that is closed and the sweat underneath that is trying to come out of the pores that are now blocked or closed, can cause blisters from the sweat trying to get out. Also note that you can get planter's warts from tanning beds also. I had that painful experience and so am very cautious about having the bed properly cleaned before I get in it.

Avatar f tn Is it all because of the one time I went tanning before I got married? Is it PMLE or just a heat rash? Furthermore, while on vacation my rash won't show up until about the 3rd or 4th day into my vacation and then it covers my whole body. Why do you think this is? Side Note: I'm an spf nazi and cake 30-50 on at all times. I love swimming and vacationing, but the thought of going makes me depressed due to my ugly rash.
Avatar f tn Im only 6weeks& 5 days, do you think its safe to use tanning beds. I have heard mixed opionions about it?
Avatar f tn Why would anything natural like that be bad for you and the baby? On the flip side, tanning beds give you super charges of artificial UV rays from only a few inches away. That's what will fry your baby. Plus, tanning beds are just bad for everyone.
Avatar n tn Have spent some time in the sun and tanning beds my whole life (Im 23 years old). I havent been in a tanning bed in quite some time, but recently went. The next day I noticed red/purplish spots all over the inside of my forearms (rang in size of tiny-small freckles). I have had a few similar looking spots on the tops of my hands before after tanning that later turn darker brown, than lighter brown, then the disappear. This is also happening with the spots on my forearms.
1730786 tn?1310092814 I had the same problem it is the cleaning solutions that the tanners use to clean the beds. Before going tanning try wiping the beds down top and bottom with baby wipes. This has seemed to help with my rash tremendously. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I never use tanning beds or tanning lotions I just use some good old sunscreen and sit out for hours either sitting or doing things around outside but since I got pregnant in august 2014 and where I live some days were cold and warm then old again and now today I'm loving this heat and I was just wondering if it's safe but thank you
Avatar n tn I wen 2 my doctor a normal physician he told me to put neopsorin on it 4 for a week i told him how last summer i had 2 scars on my face from a red sun burned day at the beach that was picked off.I tan alot also in tanning beds wich i might think is part of the reason .So i tried the neopsoirn it helped dryed it up but then would come back in a couple days red and not dry at all.I started using cortisone cream thinking it was ecezema along wit another cream fluocinide.
Avatar f tn This may be a fungal infection or a reaction to the ultraviolet rays utilized in tanning beds. A fungal infection may present as a rash which may be itchy and scaly. A microscopic evaluation of skin scrapings from the area may help establish the diagnosis. Have you applied any medications on the area before? Was this ever assessed by a physician? Any other similar lesions in the body? Are these rash only associated with tanning?
Avatar f tn Yeah if your talking about tanning beds you need to stop, pregnant women should not try to heat their stomachs any ways ESP through damaging UV rays that are in those beds as well as saunas, or the spas. Now if your talking about laying outside to tan that's a different story which is completely fine for you and baby just make sure to put on oil and never sit out long enough that you become very hot and also drink lots of water!!
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor first. Tanning beds are not really healthy to begin with and can increase your chances of skin cancer with out being pregnant. The ultraviolet radiation increases your overall lifetime risk of skin cancer by up to 75% according to the World Health Organization. Tanning beds can also raise your body temperature, which can mimic a fever...and fevers are to be avoided especially in pregnancy. The excessive heat can also cause dehydration.
Avatar f tn I know tanning beds are a big no but is it okay to lay in the sun as long as I d
Avatar n tn I had it before. Somebody told me to go to the tanning bed a few times and it will go away. I am so against tanning beds now because I had to have 2 skin biopsies (both benign) which put a scare in me. I used to worship the sun and went to the tanning bed for special occasions. I will say though it did work and got rid of the rash.
Avatar f tn http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/11/health/indoor-tanning-poses-cancer-risks-teenagers-learn.html?_r=0 I was a tanner too until there was just too much data to support it anymore. I just want to pass it on because it really is considered very unhealthy. I think that is why tans in general have gotten so out of style. good luck (not trying to be too bossy or anything. I just didn't realize all of this and my doctor made it crystal clear).
Avatar f tn As an integral part of the prescribed treatment for Hepatitis C, some individuals develop a rash from ribavirin – and this side effect can be exacerbated by exposure to intense sunlight or other UV light, such as tanning beds. In addition, consumers are urged to be aware of the greater potential for a photosensitive reaction when combining ribavirin with one of the above listed drugs known for increasing sensitivity to the sun.
2102940 tn?1333643102 It must have been like you said a burn from the tanning bed. My skin is fair so it makes sense. It was just a funny place to be on my side under my arm. Thanks again!!
Avatar m tn I have been going in tanning beds on and off for the past several years. Last week I went into a stand-up bed for less than my normal time and later that night developed a rash/reddened welts on my upper arms, neck, and upper chest. It had been a couple weeks since I last tanned but I have done that before and tanned for the same amount of time, without a problem. I always use a lotion and haven't switched it for several months. I am not on any new medication either.
Avatar n tn HELP!!!! just a few days ago my friends and I shared a day at the beach bathing in the sun for the first time this summer. I am a little fair skinned but within time my skin can get very dark. and I've been in tanning beds and never been burnt badly. This day was a little different, in the evening i noticed my face getting really red. The next nite the swelling came, my upper forehead was puffy but it was nothing terrible.
