Heat kills salmonella

Common Questions and Answers about Heat kills salmonella

heat

Avatar n tn I'm just wondering what my odds of contracting salmonella are. I went out to the Wildlife Sanctuary today and fed the ducks, and two decided to fly up onto my shoulder. They even climbed on my feet. If there were any germs, they're now pretty much everywhere. I've touched my jacket, scarf, phone, wristlet, etc. Countless surfaces I could have passed any germs to.
Avatar f tn Chicken liver big no no I think it has copious amounts of vitamin a in it ( I think) and can do something to babies pretty much all cheese is fine if your in the usa. The only kinds you need to look out for is soft cheeses that are unpasteurized...even if it's not you can still eat it but there's a small risk for containing nasty things cos it hasn't been heat treated to kill bacteria . I eat rare steak all the time.
Avatar m tn You have to be very careful in eating raw eggs because of Salmonella. if you can find a farm that only has free range chickens that would be the only ones to eat. Still you have to be very, very careful!!!
Avatar f tn I would heat them to food safety standards just didn't know thanks ladies
Avatar f tn I meant shouldn't eat.
Avatar f tn I have done test on malaria and thyphoid which shows a single positive(+) thin and thick plasmodium falciparum also some presence of the salmonella thyphi. Each tym, i get a medication on this but after a week the symptoms retunrs which are headaches, internal and external heat, tiredness, leg aches, heavy eyes, eye aches, dizziness, muscle cramps. Pls wat can i do?
Avatar n tn This is absolutely a chance occurring and need not occur all the time. I guess you might be anxious because of the cases of salmonella infection reported from various places in the US on March 11. If that’s the case, Let me reassure you that though these cases were associated with ground turkey burger, not everybody who had eaten it developed the infection. Moreover, only 11-12 cases were reported till March (that was when I last read about it).
Avatar f tn People make a big hype over salmonella and bacteria but if you heat it up it will be fine. I have had subway on and off and I have been fine. 17+2 today and everything is fine. :) I even have deli meats at home.
Avatar f tn Thank you very much for this information! Is it mainly because of the "potential risks of salmonella"? I assumed it was because the eggs didn't get to a high enough heat to kill their bacteria.
Avatar f tn i was the diagnosed with salmonella at the end of january and given antibiotics. i gave another bowel sample last week and results today show i still have salmonella. i have been prescribed ciproflaxacino and sulfintestin now for 10 days.
1699466 tn?1306937018 What is this strain salmonella newport, C2 0149 ? what is the cause. Is this a common strain? I can't seem to find any info on the internet. I had this strain in Novermber 2010. Thank you.
Avatar f tn newmama2015 is right Listeria bacetria can grow in cold temperatures unlike salmonella e.coli and have a tendency to grow on deli meats however it doesn't take a ton of heat to kill it so if you heat it until it's steaming you're good...Listeria probably wouldn't get you as sick as say e.coli O157:H7 (found in undercooked ground beef) but it can severely harm your baby if it is passes through the placenta...
Avatar f tn I would talk to you doctor the problem is that if your egg salad gets contaminated with a bacteria called Listeria refrigeration will not slow it's growth unlike salmonella and e.coli...because your immune system is compromised during pregnancy you are 20 times more likely to get sick from Listeria and it can cross the placenta and hurt your baby...that is why they say no lunch meat unless heating until steaming...
Avatar f tn Ask you doctor for a Culture & Sensitivity (C & S) urinary analysis. In the mean time, you should increase your liquid intake, but not from coffee, tea or alcohol. This should ease a lot of the burning. Good luck.
237053 tn?1258828426 I know this has been brought up before and if I remember correctly many had a heat intolerance. Is this a symptom of lyme? Well, I DON'T! I actually feel better in the heat. Hot baths really help me especially when I add the Epson salt. And I def prefer warm sunny weather over cold. Is this abnormal for lyme?
Avatar n tn I know pizza is fine but my concern is that the slices were not from a pizza fresh out of the oven but were sitting under heat lamps and were only luke warm. Should i be worried about this??
Avatar n tn Ohh never mind here I googled my self just for a quick find for you Its long!! Soft cheeses It's best to avoid cheeses such as Brie, goat, Camembert, feta, queso blanco, and blue or other veined varieties. Why? They may be unpasteurized and contaminated with listeria -- bacteria that can trigger food poisoning.
Avatar f tn I don't think so... it's just water, heat, and steam, unless you use a starch. Check the tags first though because some materials burn when ironed.
5615074 tn?1378316840 Raw eggs are a no-no during pregnancy, because they sometimes carry germs such as salmonella. Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning, and in very rare cases, be fatal. Contracting salmonella during pregnancy rarely harms your baby directly, but the high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration that accompany a bad case of food poisoning could cause preterm labor or miscarriage. that's what I found on babycenter website.
7758733 tn?1402589420 At the end of the day, my back kills me so I'll lay in bed with a heating pad to my back. And my baby moves alot, does she feel the heat? Maybe a dumb question but it is safe to use right?
Avatar m tn She got blood and stool samples, I believe it was the blood sample that showed up salmonella (although it might have been the stool). They put her on antibiotics, and it didn’t go away. We later moved and she went to another doctor. Same thing, blood and stool and salmonella was found. More antibiotics, nothing changes. By now she thinks she can control her symptoms by cutting out certain foods like onion, garlic, bell peppers etc.
461838 tn?1255790216 It's the heat for me, regardless whether it's sunny or overcast. I went through most of my tx in the hottest summer NZ has had for years and I felt so sick and uncomfortable when ever I was exposed to the heat. Weird cos I've always been a heat lover... The brightness of the sun just increased my discomfort. Once we got in to autumn where we still had bright sun but not as much heat or humidity I found I could actually enjoy the sunlight for a while.
645800 tn?1466860955 Just got the latest info on my grad daughters illness. She has a Salmonella infection and is on amoxicillan. It makes me fell a little bit better finally having a name for what was wrong. I haven't looked up Salmonella on the web yet though.
Avatar f tn The heat kills me too. I'm in Washington DC where it gets hot and humid. During summer months we do a lot of field trips with my students. I would be ok with that in 'normal' circumstances but I'm 25 weeks preggo and I don't enjoy taking 20 kids out in the city! It's physically demanding and I'm not in the best shape of my life right now. I guess, I'm venting since you've touched the subject ;) I honestly don't have a recipe for surviving the heat.
