Avatar f tn My daughter and I have head lice. We bought the shampoo and sprayed and washed everything. I do not want he'd lice in our hair once I have my son next Thursday. Any ideas for at home remedies??? Please help!!!
Avatar f tn I treat my daughters head every 3 months with mayo.
Avatar f tn I vacuumed like crazy, put all stuffed animals in plastic bags and threw them out in the garage, washed bedding like crazy and dried bedding in hot dryer. Heat kills lice. Vinegar rinse helps on the hair, along with a natural lice shampoo (no pesticides), combing through the hair, and blow drying the hair. You have to vacuum the house in all corners. The brown/blackish lice are adult lice. Lice starts out being clear and gain color from biting.

Avatar f tn My friend has a new born and her baby has head lice . She's a good mother but the baby caught head lice from her. My question for her is what's safe to use on her hair what should she do ? She's breastfeeding and doesn't want none of the medicine falling down towards her breast. What does she do about her baby ? Thank you.
Avatar f tn A lot of sites about head lice say that you're supposed to wash linens after you do something about the lice, but no one mentions anything about the next few days. I used nix on my hair (maybe incorrectly), and when my mom combed through my hair I still had live lice. I know for sure that I still have a live louse in my hair. Can't that get on my new bedding? Should I be washing and drying on high heat everything I use for the next few days?
Avatar n tn in june 2009 my son brought a case of head lice from flordia to georgia. He is back in Flordia lice free my parents and self are here in georgia with a very severe case of lice. Have you had any patients deal with this wide spread of lice? I sleep with plugs in my ears and noise. My eyes even have lice in them a thick gule like subance.
Avatar f tn Yes you can talk to her teacher. Go buy some head lice shampoo.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever found one louse on a head and not found any eggs, nits or lice. I found an adult louse in my hair Monday when doing my weekly check with my Robi comb. I proceeded to do 2 full comb outs each on my two children. Using a metal nit exterminator comb, licekiller brand products and hours of meticulous combing. I found nothing. No eggs, no lice. Next day my friend did the same comb out of my hair. (took 6 hours, My hair is shoulder length) and found nothing.
Avatar f tn My daughter and I have head lice. I have my schedule c section next Thursday. We've used the special shampoo and combed everything out. We've washed and disinfected everything. Is there anything else I can do? I do not want lice in our hair once my baby boy is born. Anyone have ideas or at home remedies?!?!?!
Avatar f tn All areas need to be free of the lice or else you will keep getting head lice as well.
Avatar m tn Hello I am a RN and when my daughter was little she too got head lice. Lice can be an expensive and aggravating problem if the treatment isn't done properly the first time around. I made the same mistakes you have made and also learned the hard way. You need to treat the child's head with RID or NIX, (I used NIX), again pick out the knits and 4 days later treat her again.
Avatar f tn Lice can become resistant to lice treatments like nix. I don't think you can use them on such a young child though. My siblings and I once had a really bad case of them once and my mom got rid of them but putting mayo on our head for 24 hours. She put mayo on them, then a plastic bag around our hair (make sure it's tight so your daughter won't try to put it over her face), then she took a hair dryer to it for about an hour.
Avatar f tn Otherwise, if you can find a person that does this in your area who gets your head lice free, you will be re-infested. Lice are very tenacious critters that have claws that latch onto the hair. It is absolutely necessary to get all the nits and eggs and not just the adults, which is why I suggested having someone do this nit-picking for you.
Avatar f tn I recently got head lice, so I no longer use my gym locker, I just put my clothes in NY bag. If it is pubic lice, could it also live on my scalp? Could the lice have moved from my pubic region to my head? It isn't on my head anymore, but I have not told anyone was out the itching down there. There are no red marks or signs of the lice down there besides what I think night have been a possible egg. I would love any help. How should I ask my parents? I am also 13.
Avatar f tn The only thing I've ever used, and my mum used to use on us as kids also is white vinegar in the last rinse... Also go buy a nit comb and once washed conditioned(as the lice find it hard to cling to), rinsed with vinegar, run the head lice comb through you're hair. Get someone else to do it if you can and have a white towel around your shoulders in case any try getting away. The vinegar usually kills them though, but not the eggs so you'll have to do this over a few days...

Avatar f tn For about 3 weeks now my head, neck, and ears have been itching really badly. There was some kind of bug in my hair that I found today but I hadn't found any bugs before and I worked outside today. The bug was a darkish color. I didn't really get a good look of it because as soon as I saw it was a a bug I hurried up and threw it in the garbage can. I think it might be lice but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what it is?
Avatar f tn They sell this awesome lice comb at walgreens that you comb through the roots of the hair and it zaps the lice and kills them on the spot. It cost $20 plus batteries but it is so much easier than anything ive ever used before and after the first time doing it do it 2-3 times a week for to weeks to kill anything that may have hatched and they will be gone takes 5- 10 mins to do a whole head.
Avatar f tn going on to where its like prickles of heat on my entire head that I swear is lice running a marathon. My friends older two boys didn't get it and neither did she and she shares a bed with the girl. If they didn't get it how the heck did I?!?! A lice expert told me that not everyone that comes in contact with it gets it. I can't handle being one of those people that has piles of bugs falling out of their hair. My gf gave me a hug and if I have it she has it :( She has eczema bad!
Avatar n tn When my son got head lice, we began to search for a lice treatment option....we tried everything from oils to shampoos but nothing seemed to help us rid our son of the lice problem. In fact it began to increase over the months, interfering with his studies and games. Someone told us about the Nit Free Noggins treatment, and we tried it. Surprisingly the head lice was gone in a matter of days....and these people came home too.
Avatar f tn If you have not seen adult lice, you may not have head lice. Research *Morgellon’s Disease regarding what is “eating you”. If your eyes; your eyebrows itch and you feel crawling on your eyelashes, you are probably also suffering from a **Demodex mites outbreak. I too had these *hard white granules appearing on my hair and scalp.
1434608 tn?1283534333 i have one and a half year old daughter she has head lice and nits but i was told i can't use lice shampoo what else can i use
Avatar n tn Yes you can. Head lice is the human flees.. They jump from head to head with just the simple fact of one head sitting next to another. Or picking them up. I am not saying always, but yes usually. No biggie. Plenty of shampoos that are meant for lice. They arent hard to get rid of.. Make sure you wash all your bed sheets, they tend to sometimes linger. Not too long for they need a head to survive..Good luck.
Avatar f tn Another thing if u can stand it, shave the hair on the back of ur head, underneath(its a far measure, but if u can deal w it it works). Lice mostly live on the back of ur head and above the ears. Well, I hope this helps and keep me posted!!!
Avatar f tn And you can just put blankets and things out in the sun. Head lice only live for 6-8 hours without feeding off a human so if your away from you'r bed ext.
