(Such as: heavy panting/breathing TOO deeply/salivation/distress of any kind?).....[later stages include: dry gums as the heat prostration progresses, weakness, confusion or inattention, vomiting or diarrhea and sometimes bleeding. As the condition progresses towards heat prostration or heat stroke there may be obvious paleness or graying to the gums.

Chronic dehydration can cause renal calculi (kidney stones) to become more present, however, what kind of kidney stones were they? Does your husband take calcium supplements? Eat a lot of protein?
Avatar m tn I have had 2 heart attacks (age 46 and 48) from clots in a tiny artery, branch of a branch of LAD and ever since have issues breathing when it's humid outside. I am working for 1 month in a carpenter shop with no A/C, only fans and it has been as high as 99. I think I've gotten heat exhaustion twice now, missed 2 days of work. This is not my career, only a 1 month learning experience and I'm considering going to half days, early mornings only.
Avatar n tn Generally, hydration and cooling are your only treatment options. There is no essential difference in treatment of heat exhaustion or heat stroke between a diabetic and non-diabetic. As far as heat goes, encouraging hydration is the best way to prevent the problem. Salt tablets are issued in the military, but that is a decision for your medical director.
Avatar m tn My husband suffered heat exhaustion a few days ago. He ran a fever of 101 all night w/ sweating off and on. Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness.
Avatar n tn m on my feet 3 days a week for at least 10 hours. Suffered from heat exhaustion a month ago. Could the heat exhaustion have caused this unusual pain for me? I do have 4 herniated discs in my neck and suspect I have at least 1 in my lower back, have had 2 cortisone shots for cyatica many years ago, could any of these problems cause this problem I'm having in my legs? I don't have water on my knees, just pain behind them and that pain started several months ago.
Avatar m tn I ended up with extremely severe heat exhaustion toward the end of the ride, I probably should have went to the ER following my return home. Upon awaking the next day I had a severe, crushing headache with pressure. Four weeks after this incident I have sensations of vertigo when moving my head side to side, up or down, or bouncing my head such as when I run.....it's as if my eyes can't follow along with my head.
Avatar f tn s important to know the signs/symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and steps you can take to prevent them. Medications can also affect the body's ability to regulate temperature, so it might be worth asking your pharmacist some questions on this topic. Avatar n tn It sounds like your dog is suffering from heat exhaustion, so make sure she has access to plenty of fresh water. Heat exhaustion can quickly go to full-blown heat stroke which can be fatal if not treated. Hosing her down with the water hose in the heat of the day or after a walk will help. I recall my boss from several years ago who had an Italian Greyhound who nearly died of heat stroke here in Texas.
Avatar m tn i was walking in the sun and it was very hot suddenly my heart started to beat faster with ectopic beats maybe 3 or 4 i cooled my self down and it went away in seconds, but the ectopic beats or PACs lasted for a week could this be AFib? the doctor tells me it's just heat exhaustion, it never happened before. i'm 21.
Avatar f tn I have read several commments regarding heat stroke/exhaustion. No one has mentioned swelling. If I exert myself when temps are hot and humidity high, my face and ears swell up. They itch and are bright red. The only thing that seems to help is a steroid shot and prednisone pack. My face and ears will peel almost like a sunburn. Does this happen to anyone out there? If I sweat during the night I will get itchy. Gold Bond medicated powder helps tremendously.
