Avatar n tn My husband had an stroke 6 years ago in his thalamus which caused him to be confused, short term memory loss, some long term memory loss, etc. The good news is that he regained almost all of his functioning, but some small short term memory issues. 3 weeks ago he worked in the yard in 100 degree temps for several hours. The next day he woke up with the same symptoms as the stroke 6 years ago and we assumed he had another stroke.
Avatar f tn Dehydration can cause nausea and lead to a vicious cycle where the dehydration and heat do lead to heat exhaustion because the nausea prevents the intake of fluids which just adds to the dehydration and leads to the body getting hotter and hotter.
Avatar m tn You might be losing too many salts due to sweating and on that exhaustion episode might have lost minerals in salts. You have to rehydreate yourself with water and salts. Measure your blood pressure and keep it in normal range and go for testing of your minerals. Take care!
Avatar n tn Me again. Since I posted, I have done nothing but worry about going along with heat exhaustion, altho I imagine this is the case. But as the other two have said, better safe than sorry, and I DO think it's rather unusual for an 18-year-old to get so hot from just a shower that she'd lose her sense of reality for ANY length of time...unless she's terrible about drinking plenty of water.
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar n tn Have you consulted a orthopedic surgeon to get evaluated further. Continue to apply local heat, pain gel and applying the heat at least for couple of weeks. Rest is best way to get better. Take care and share your thoughts.
Avatar m tn It is likely that you experienced some degree of heat exhaustion if you were sleeping for such long hours in direct sunlight. Also it is concerning that you did not have ventilation in the car when you were sleeping. It is quite possible that you had been inspiring air poor in oxygen and have had a buildup of carbondioxide in the blood. It is difficult to say whether it was this is the cause of your current headaches though.
Avatar m tn I have had an episode of heart palpitations lasted for a week, it was triggered by heat exhaustion, they come to me at the form of single strong heart beats (extrasystoles), i'm 21 with no heart problems, how long will it take for them to go away?
Avatar f tn I have addison's disease and have been on hydrocortisone about 20mg a day for 15 years. Maybe not a "potent" dose, but it's been a very long time. Can I be certain this won't impact my results? The doctor on The Body website told someone with an almost identical question that it could.
Avatar n tn I got heat exhaustion (Or similar) while at work during wed/thursday last week, and I still can't handle any semblence of heat, my eyesight is goofy, and my mind sluggish. I have a terrible sense of balance and I have trouble typing properly, I sometimes have to type the same word over ten to fifteen times to spell it right. Even if it's something simple like 'the'.
Avatar n tn I was in bed for days with it back then and ever since then I have to be very careful how long I am out in full sun and/or heat in general. Humid heat is far worse than dry heat, but both are bad. Frequent, short breaks when I am outside where I can get into FULL shade or indoors, with fans going and COLD WATER, preferably ice water. I have tried the towels you can wet and wrap around your neck and they DO help.
Avatar n tn A hot environment while doing any intense exercise, including yoga, on people’s health is harmful. ‘Hot yoga’ will lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, heat cramps, and even heart failure. Avatar m tn I have had 2 heart attacks (age 46 and 48) from clots in a tiny artery, branch of a branch of LAD and ever since have issues breathing when it's humid outside. I am working for 1 month in a carpenter shop with no A/C, only fans and it has been as high as 99. I think I've gotten heat exhaustion twice now, missed 2 days of work. This is not my career, only a 1 month learning experience and I'm considering going to half days, early mornings only.
Avatar n tn As of now there are no scientific studies that indicate SSRI medication as having any long term adverse effects on health. (There could be problems, but nothing is proven) If you wish to get off Paxil there are a couple very key things you must understand first: (1.) Even with a very slow tapering of the medication, you will get several week or even months of withdrawl symptoms. These symptoms can vary between mild to very severe. (2.
Avatar f tn It turned out to be heat exhaustion. I live in Florida with all the wonderful humidity. Turns out someone cut the wires to our outside air conditioning unit. I feel loads better now though :) even better than normal.
Avatar f tn If this happens often at all you need to worry, heat stroke (unlike heat exhaustion) can atually kill a person becuase it messes with the hypathalmes (aka body heat control central). But because you said she was cold and numb, she could have been in the late stages of heat exhaustion so you caught it in the transtion. Make sure she's drinking plenty of water all day before meets. I'm a cross country runner myself and it's very very important.
Avatar f tn Dogs can get heat exhaustion and heat stroke just like people, and heat stroke can be fatal without immediate medical support. It's so easy to forget proper hydration and cooling during the beginning of the summer months. I'm guilty of that myself. Living in a sub-tropical region and being sensitive to heat, I have to force water and Gatorade down my throat regularly if I'm outside.
Avatar f tn Hi, It is good that you are feeling better already. Heat-related illness such as heat exhaustion occurs when your body gets too hot. This can be caused by physical exercise or hot weather. It can present with heavy sweating, feeling weak, dizziness, nausea, headache, fast heartbeat and dark-colored urine, which indicates dehydration. It is important that you get out of the heat quickly. Drink plenty of water or other fluids.

Avatar f tn I don't know about early labor but you could easily get heat exhaustion or heat stroke so take extra care and make sure you are staying hydrated and do anything you can to try and keep yourself cool.
Avatar m tn i was walking in the sun for probably 3 hours it was very hot 46 c this day, suddenly i felt my heart is racing and beating so fast with 3 ectopic beats in very few second, i stopped and put my hand on my heart it was beating too fast and strong, i cooled myself down and drank some fluids it all went back to normal(but the ectopic beats lasted for a week), went to a cardiologist he said i'm fine and it's just heat exhaustion, is it AFib or just palpitations with heat exhaustion?
